Trostel's Greenbriar

Such excellent food and excellent staff! It is one of the nice restaurants in the area and it is completely worth it. The food items were in the $20-$30 range and very filling. The seasonal items are great! Visited without reservations but will recommend reservations especially for mid to large parties, this helps the staff to plan ahead of time. This location is great for celebrations!

I dined at Trostel's Greenbriar to attend a seminar on February 28, 2024. We all were served the same items. The large mixed greens salad with their homemade buttermilk ranch dressing with tasty bread was a wonderful start. Then came a center cut New York Strip steak, a whopping 16 oz (!), and a hefty sized perfectly baked potato with butter and sour cream. I asked for a very, very, very, very rare steak and that's exactly what I got! I was in Heaven!! For dessert, we were served an oversized wedge of cheesecake, which was 3-1/2" - 4" high, with ample strawberries and sauce. It was to die for!

Our servers, Cheyenne and Meredith, were very efficient, attentive and friendly during my whole time there. I commend them wholeheartedly!! I would definitely like to try more menu items at this establishment!

I usually take pictures of my dishes when I dine. However, I simply forgot this time until I got my dessert.

We've dined here multiple times, whether for lunch or dinner, both on the patio and inside the dining area. Each time we visit, we're impressed with the quality of the food, as well as the relatively reasonable prices.

During our most recent visit, I was particularly impressed with the tenderness of my steak. You sometimes hear of meat that seemingly melts in your mouth, and this did.

Another nice thing about the restaurant is that the music isn't overpowering, so you may have an enjoyable conversation with others in your party without having to raise your voice. It makes the restaurant feel upscale and relaxing. We look forward to returning.

This was our first time and everything was absolutely fantastic. Very professional staff, quick service on drinks and appetizers. The blueberry sour and peach cobbler mule were top notch.

I ordered the ribeye with gunpowder crust and it was AMAZING. Try it with the garlic mashed potatoes. My wife got the chicken tortellini and it was fantastic as well. The blueberry marscapone dessert was also fantastic.

Prices are steep but the quality is worth every penny.

If I had to nitpick something, I'd suggest some light music playing in the restaurant. It was silent and felt kind of awkward at such a high end place to be sitting in silence. Smooth jazz would have been the cherry on top! 😀 Overall, we'll be back. 9.9 out of 10!

Had a wonderful dinner here! Our server was very friendly and all our food was delicious! We got the coconut tempura shrimp for our appetizer and it was delicious! Nice big shrimp and the pineapple salsa and the sweet Chilli sauce were so good! I got the new york strip and my Fiancé got the cheese tortellini for our entrees and split a chocolate torte for dessert. Everything tasted amazing and the atmosphere was excellent! We are having our wedding reception here next month and I can't wait!!

Service was off to a slow start, but rapidly staff noticed and did everything to fix it. It was especially meaningful since we went to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. It was just the two of us and we were so excited. They gave excellent service.

The food overall was great, besides the smashed baby red potatoes. They tasted like oil and we couldn't eat them. The pieces of cake were excellent. The food was great overall and flavorful. Highly recommend the coconut shrimp especially.

My boyfriend and I stopped in here for our anniversary dinner and it was wonderful! Staff was very friendly Reagan was our waitress and she was exceptional! Food was also amazing loved the filet mignon with the gunpowder seasoning. Will definitely be coming back.

Attended an estate planning workshop and despite being a conference setting it was still elegant and fine dining!
Although dinner was paid for we still tipped according to what the 20%of price would have been.
Hats off !

One of the better restaurants in Johnson. It's a mix of trying to appear classy but also pretty casual. Good for a date night or business meeting. Highly recommend reservations ahead of time as it always seems busy.

The food was pretty good. For appetizer went with the Calamari. I decided to go with the Chef special which was Sliced Wagyu, it was delicious but slightly small portion that left me wanting more. Also had the Three Cheese Pizza which I enjoyed. Then finally dessert was the Tiramisu which I also enjoyed.

Fantastic experience. Food was excellent, service was fantastic (being professional, prompt, and friendly), and overall a great experience.

We went for lunch, and everyone in our group commented on how perfect the portions were. Definitely will be back!

The food is always amazing,and the service is the best I've ever encountered. Everytime. Once we had a waitress there who would bow as she backed away with our orders. Not going to lie, we loved it, talk about above and beyond! If you're looking to try it out, the borsin sliders are reasonably priced and a great way to introduce yourself to the restaurant.

The.young male server provided exceptional service. My food was good. I was with a large party, and I had a very good time.

We showed up at 8:45. They close at 9:30. Literally had one of the best meals ever staff was very professional and almost over the top literally one of the best meals I’ve ever had Greenbrier never let you down.

Celebrated a 60th anniversary for my in laws. Could not have been a better evening. Set us up in private area. Food was wonderful. Serivce impeccable. Shown are Apple chutney pork chop, Whiskey sirloin special , and of course Carrot cake . Thank you Greenbriar for a memorable celebration!

We had an amazing anniversary dinner last night! I felt incredible and my husband did a double take and stumbled over his words when he saw me. (Anyone who knows Randy, knows this is very hard to do.)
We had never been to Greenbriar before, but we were THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED! The food was amazing! Our server IMPECCABLE! Stacy was really able to understand our needs and prioritize her tables accordingly! (She had a hand in a homecoming party of 12, a party of 9, 2 top, 4 top, 5 top, and us!) I have never been treated so well in a restaurant, especially an upscale restaurant! I will always be back only to see her! I was most impressed with how Stacy was able to gage and read the needs of each table. She knew we needed little attention, the homecoming party A LOT, the 2 top more than us, her regulars(the 4top) little attention and the 5 top would be good as long as they had their bar drinks. She is a pure gem and deserves all the recognition! Thank you Stacy for making our anniversary dinner one to remember! You are amazing girl!
The food was incredible. The appetizer of baked mushrooms was pretty standard 4 rating. I could make the same thing at home. The prime rib melted in your mouth with a healthy helping of horsey sauce and au jus. The scallops over mushroom risotto has so much flavor and just enough lemon to bring out the scallops! Both entrées 5/5!

Amazing dining experience! Both the service & food were top-notch. Everything, from the sweet and sour brussel sprouts and bread to the prime rib appetizer to the orange roughy and gunpowder ribeye, were perfectly seasoned and beyond phenomenal. Definitely will be dining there again!

Shane served our table in a very timely manner without rushing anyone. The food was served hot which enhanced just how delicious the dinner was. Presentation of the food was a pleasant plus. Our thanks to the entire staff.

Service, ambience, food and drinks (ooooohhh the drinks) were lovely! We were there for Valentine's Day.
Spanish Coffee is fun and tasty, Malbec wine was on point. Beef Oscar (crab meat and beranaise with asparagus) with baked potato add on. We did have to ask for a beef to be sent back and cooked more. Beef was served with a salad starter, creamy parmesan dressing was great! Not pictured is the spinach artichoke dip appetizer which was served with pita chips and tortilla chips. Very creamy and rich.

Took friends to lunch this week and highly recommend Greenbrier in Johnston. The food was fabulous, our waitress was outstanding and the dessert presentations were out of this world. High class restaurant with very reasonable Iowa prices!!!
