Don't miss out on this small cafe! The food is fantastic and the staff is attentive. We had the Gyro and Reuben. Both were exceptional! The Reuben must have had 1 lb of meat. Very filling. I'll definitely go back when I'm in the neighborhood.

Awesome little Cafe. Very friendly. Owner is a spry spunky senior. The cook made everything just as I requested (crispy bacon, well done hashbrowns, thick toast perfectly toasted). It was incredible how fast my order came out. I would definitely highly recommend this friendly cafe.

I didn't even know this place was here & I'm so glad to finally discover it! It's cozy, the service was very friendly, and the breakfast was really tasty. Best sausage gravy I've ever had, anywhere, hands down. My friend also loved her Butter Rum French Toast. I highly recommend & will definitely be back!

Even though the cafe is under new owners, they still serve the same menu. The butter rum french toast is still as goodas before.
They were willing to break out the french toast for my wife and give me the rest of the breakfast of eggs, bacon and hash browns. Toast and coffee extra.
Hrs are 8-2 with breakfast served all day. Great lunch menu.

I stopped by here when I had some extra time between errands. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The people and the staff all had that friendly, small-town feel. It's a very welcoming place. The chef (who I believe is the owner), came out to greet us and check on our food. The place was clean and the service was fine. The portions were large. My only complaint is that the iced tea tasted thin.

I had an amazing breakfast! It was hot and delicious and I'll definitely be back. This was my first time eating there and I got an omlet that I customized. They weren't working with the usually staff they explained but they made the best of it and it was fabulous!

Amazing Butter Rum French Toast, bacon done just right. I highly recommend the food.

Note that they don't serve specialty coffee drinks. I actually came in hoping for an espresso but ended up getting the French toast and was just as happy!

Food is good and they have great portions. (Not greasy like some other breakfast cafes!) Home fries are some of the best in town. Prices are very reasonable and parking is easy. Give the biscuits and gravy a try!!

Came in for a quick breakfas and experienced great customer service. The food was out real quickly and my over-medium eggs were done perfectly. The portion was a perfect size. It’s a great little neighborhood gem with some great breakfast and lunch options at affordable prices. Definatly recommend checking it out.

Love this little hole in the wall. The owner is cool, and I always chat with him and the other staff while waiting for my food. Good food with great pricing, always comes out hot. Their hash heaven is a hangover cure for sure!

Best breakfast in the metro, hands down. Ive never had a better breakfast. Service is great, the chef is even better. Dont go for breakfast often, but when i do this is where i will go everytime. We have kids and they are super with food and options for picky eaters. When i have family or friends in town this is the place. Just go, you wont be disappointed. Oh! And get the rarebit cheese sauce too. 😃 it makes everything better, quite possibly could be a solution to the healthcare costs in this country. You will NOT be disappointed.

A wonderful little cafe with great food, large portions and affordable prices. The staff are friendly and attentive with an understanding of their clients. Get there early because there is limiting seating and it fills up quickly, which is one of the few drawbacks. It also is not wheelchair accessible, so be warned. Otherwise a fantastic place to grab a bite or share a meal.

What a gem! We avoid franchise restaurants whenever possible and we stumbled on to this cute little cafe. The food was delicious and the owner/chef came out to personally make sure we were happy with our food. (We were!) If you find yourself hungry for a home cooked breakfast or lunch in Johnston Iowa...eat here. You won't be disappointed!

Oh my goodness are the biscuits and gravy fantastic!! So flavorful! And the butter rum French toast is out of this world! I love the little diner atmosphere.

This place is one of those gems you find in the metro area of Des Moines. The food is amazing! The wait time is usually a little longer than you would expect but it's because they make the food hot and fresh. They're also usually pretty busy. I can't recommend this the Brick House Cafe enough! Keep up the good work ladies!

Food was really good, place is small and they were not sure how to seat a 6 top. They moved tables around to accommodate and then it was good. Love the small family owned atmosphere here.

This is a small and cozy cafe with great food and service. Happy to support local now that we’re getting back to our normal way of life with this pandemic. You can pre-order online as well. Will come here again the next time I’m in town.

What a great home in the wall. Service was friendly and the food was fantastic. Greattach place to grabe a bite with friends. The breakfast mac n cheese was fantastic. Pancakes are huge, fluffy, and delicious!!
