Very cool place. It is down a minimum maintenance road that looks like you are going the wrong way... you are not. The road is closed to the public when Freedom Park is not open. You drive on this road for about 1 mile. Alot of cool stuff, and the volunteers were very knowledgeable and kind. Unfortunately, due to some bad flooding, the submarine is not open for tours which is pretty obvious it is surrounded by piles of dirt, but you can see it from the ship. The ship was absolutely amazing and had a ton of neat things to see. We brought 2 small children and they were fascinated by it all. We spent about 1 hr looking at all the things.

Lots to see here! The volunteers have done an incredible job making history come to life. I was so impressed by all the details (particularly aboard Hazard) I kept forgetting to take pics, so these really don't do any justice. You'll just have to check it out for yourself!

This visit was a birthday gift to my husband. We weren't sure what we'd see but this was more than we expected! The volunteers are so valuable to the experience as are the exhibits and their place in history.

Beautifully situated alongside the Missouri river, this park is home to some of the best preserved WW2 memorabilia available in this century! The Minesweeper, or U.S.S. Hazard, is the only surviving WW2 vessel in it's original outfitting, and being on it is like sailing up the river of time to 1944. Highly recommended for enthusiastic historians, or as an engaging educational tool for children. The park also boasts a full submarine (U.S.S. Marlin) and an assortment of airplanes, helicopters, and a garden of tremendous anchors. I would also recommend leaving some appreciation in the donation box, as this park is deeply underfunded, and run by volunteer efforts.

WW2, Vietnam, and later era battleships, submarines, and helicopters. Vietnam vets maintain the facilities and give you a detailed tour if you'd like. Practically nothing is off limits, you can climb all around inside and out of the boats, subs, and choppers. Not only do you get an accurate and detailed account of the purpose and workings of the boats and subs, but you get first account stories from the men who lived and worked on the subs. A very educational and inspiring experience.

5 stars cool place and it’s free. Only thing that sucks it’s only open on Saturdays for a few hours but definitely worth checking it out. U can explore the ship and if u want to donate they have a box on the ship.

It is so good to see that the park is recovering well from the flood. During my latest visit, I was only able to explore the USS Hazard because of a lack of time, which is the only downside. It is only open from 10-3 on Saturdays because the park is exclusively led by volunteers. However, the ship is kept in great condition. Everything is as clean as can be. There is information provided about the ship and submarine as well as signs inside the ship and on the guns. Another great thing about the Hazard is that most of the ship is open to the public, meaning you get to see a great deal of everything in the interior. Sadly, as of now, the park still has no running water and only has one port-a-poty. I highly recommend visiting the park and exploring all of the aircraft and ships it has to offer.

I visited here yrs ago and at that time toured inside of submarine Saturday 2022 I visited with my fiance from the amazing sight just driving into park and seeing the Minesweeper i knew i was in for a fantastic tour. The nice tour guides and men were there to welcome us aboard and was onhand to answer any questions. I was in awe the small quarters in which the crew indured i took over 70 photos so interesting and the size of the anchors and other things we seen. Just Amazing. We will tour again definitely!!:)

We had a fantastic experience at Freedom Park. Dwayne gave us a tour of the Minesweeper ship that was like a walk back in time. Excellent preservation of the past!

What a lovely gem! So thankful to the volunteers that provide tours, information and maintain the military equipment. Very relaxing spot on the river, casual atmosphere where you can wander around at your own leisure.

TOP NOTCH. The owner took time to get old records out and show us journal entries from the submarine's time in action. Well maintained and so many cool things to see here. Would love to go back again.

Wonderful gem! They have lots of WWII naval guns, a few aircraft, and two naval vessels. These last you get to explore or go on tour. Really exciting if you have never been on a ship but have only seen in those old movies.

Great place to check out! My 3 daughters aged 5 to 13 had a blast and thought it was mind blowing and so cool, as well as the 4 adults with! The volunteers are great too and knowledgeable! Very sad that with all of the construction and funding going on currently around and in Omaha, spending millions/ billions of $, states can't or won't get funding to keep places like these goin. Nice entrance to a park and gazebo and a restaurant I thought, but people that come to visit have to drive down a gravel road guiding you with hand made signs? No one comes to that park for the nice entrance or dumb gazebo. Pay the veterans! There is plenty looking for a job that would be a great asset to a place like that. Our family went at the end of the day so had to skip the submarine tour but definitely will visit again if in the area and OPEN.

Glad to see they reopened the park. I was sad to see how much damage was done to some of the displays and no one has even given them a fresh paint job. The naval area has been restored but, the aircraft have sadly been forgotten.

A great place to see and explore some US Navy history and warfare.

A US Navy vet guided us through the whole sub, and we were shown through the whole boat, with tons of vintage WW2 equipment. The museum is inside the ship, and you can touch a ton of real history!

It has short hours and is only open on summer Saturdays. Don't let the dirt road deter you, they are still trying to fix it up after a bad flood.

Came last year and came again this year.

Check Freedom Park's Facebook page for the hours. It's open 10 to 3 on Saturdays right now. Kids love the Hazard and Marlin. This is a volunteer operation, so the ships could really use your donations. You won't find a better naval museum this far inland anywhere else in the world.
