Not small but homier and less overwhelming than the largest shuls nearby

Welcoming and warm people and Rabbi, and the shul itself is beautiful physically and spiritually.

Proud to say that my Grandpa Willie was one of the founders of the 'IS' back in 1935. His name remains stamped on a cornerstone inside the sanctuary building. Rabbi Reichel presided at his funeral in 1974. Over the years, several acquaintances of mine, both male and female, had taken advanced Talmud workshops here. Given the Upper West Side location, the IS should well survive.

Beautiful House of worship. Nice minyan. The chazan is exceptional, with a phenomenal lyric tenor voice, a real pleasure to listen.
However I have just two questions:
1. why're the seats placed in this way, and not facing mizrach (like from the ezrath nashim), because like that's painful to turning to the Aron's direction. It's very possible to correct it, and so the whole assembly can be seated and mostly can pray easily to the right direction.
2. The beautiful Temple's acoustics is far to be good. Unfortunately I couldn't follow the Rabbi's certainly excellent drashah. Maybe we can do something about it?

Rabbi Sherman makes everyone feel welcome. There are no feelings of discomfort. He is a true leader and role model for congregants.

Awesome, welcoming synagogue. Founded in 1917. Very beautiful aron kodesh and sanctuary. Photos can be seen in the book, "Ten Times Chai: 180 Orthodox Synagogues of New York City."

Had a most meaningful and inspirational Shabbat service this week Parshat Balak with Chazzan Mueller and his brother as an extra bonus,
and an amazing talk by Rabbi Reuven Kahane.

I’ve been coming here for the last few years for Slichot with Yehuda Green. Just One Word: Amazing! Avery type of Jew is here singing and praying, it’s just awesome!

As a House of Worship it was Serene and a good place for thought and prayer. The people I met were very nice.
