East Lake Barber Shop

I LOVED my first experience coming here. I'm only a 5 minute walk away so it's so nice to have a great local barbershop. The store was clean and nicely decorated and had a friendly, calm atmosphere. Sam, who cut my hair, was so friendly and did a fantastic job. The online booking system was easier to use than other shops' too.

I have followed Joe from shop to shop and now he has his own, he has created the PERFECT barber shop. It has the best vibe, standards, and quality. If I can’t get in with Joe I can go to any other barber here and get a perfect cut. East Lake Barber Shop is a jewel in Oakland’s crown. Reggie loves it too!

I trust my hair to these fellas. I drive from pinole passing I'm sure many barbers, they really are the best. Very professional and personable guys who show you respect as a customer. Always leave feeling great about it.

I’m a Senior and have visited dozens of barber shops. I’ve found many that are good, but a few months ago discovered East Lake barber shop. This the very best shop, by far. Every barber is excellent. It seems only the most talented are members of this team.

Nice clean shop, cool/chill barbers, super dog friendly. All around decent situation and welcoming atmosphere. You couldn't ask for more. Would definitely go again. Look up Natalie, she does great work!

I have been getting my hair cut with Joe for about 8 years. I started with him over at Al's in Alameda and had no problem following him to his new shop in Oakland, which worked out now that I live close by. Joe built a beautiful space in East Lake. A modern space with old-school touches. While Joe is my main barber I have also had cuts from Sean and Dickie when I've had to shuffle appointments around and I trust them all equally with my temperamental curls. On top of giving great haircuts, East Lake also provides a great atmosphere. I always feel comfortable engaging in conversation across the shop or sitting in silence when the mood suits me.

ELBS is a great spot! Regardless of who's chair you're in they will take care of you. Special S/O to Sean and Samantha, they've done right by me every time.

Great service at reasonable prices. Hot towel treatment and everything. Incredible attention to detail. Fade on point. This is my new go-to neighborhood spot. Samantha is the best. She knew exactly what I was looking for and consistently provides a great cut every time.

One of the coolest barbershops in the country. Joe the owner is one of the kindest and most talented barber that has ever existed, and the manager Larry wears a cologne that is truly intoxicating. I would give it more stars if the fat cats at google would let me.

I've had more than a handful of regular barbers over the years, but these folks are hands-down my favorite. Nice, clean, local shop and they're all super nice. I can't recommend them highly enough. Do you and your head a favor and check them out!

Dickie did my haircut. It was good. He is quite friendly. He listened and understood what I was looking for in my haircut. I had a really good experience. Dickie and I shared an interest in rock climbing so not only the hair cut was good but also the conversations. I'll definitely recommend this place for short hair styles.

The barbers here all great. Joe is obviously the go to guy, but just take a look at everybody else leaving the shop and it's clear all the barbers are mad good. I've tried at least 10+ barbers in bay area and this is the only place that can nail it every time.

Also, prices are incredibly reasonable. Just beware that reasonable prices means having to book ASAP or everything is booked up.

Awesome new shop. Have been Following Joe/Dickie since their days at Temescal Alley. So happy that Joe was able to open his own shop. It's got easy parking and is super easy to get too.

Shop is clean and looks amazing inside, I love the old time barber chairs. Always get a great haircut from Dickie. Looking forward to many more haircuts from Dickie and Eastlake Barbers!

This is the new location for Joe P and Dickie, who were previously at Al's Barber Shop in Alameda. Highly recommend them for haircuts & beard trims. I've been going to Dickie for 2 years and he does a great job! The interior is entirely new and clean, which is looking great.

Rely cool clean shop with great barbers. Parking is super easy and free.
The haircuts are always on point, and you even get the hot towel treatment afterwards. Be sure to say hi to Larry the shop dog and check out their merch, the shirts are rad!!!
