Super nice staff and love the rooms! I was shocked at how nice and calm the area was. During the busy hours and nighttime it can get a little loud but other than that it’s a really great place and I would totally recommend! ❤
Again, LOVE the staff 😄👍

Great hotel! The food at the 24 hour restaurant was fantastic (note: no alcohol). Rooms have cool decor and are very comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful, but can be slow to respond if you call the front desk.

I just spent 2 nights here and absolutely loved the hotel. My room was off the breakfast area so not sure how representative it is of others, but I felt I had stepped back in history but with all the modern conveniences. The staff couldn’t have been nicer. The pool area was clean and the location on the water made my dinner views memorable. Would happily return if I ever have the opportunity.

Magnifique views 😍! The rooms are equipped with a working air-conditioner that keeps your room cool while you are out swimming or exploring stone town. The bed is so comfortable! I think the only thing that was sub-par for me is the breakfast. Very simple options not palatable for my preference personally. Also the beach front was very crowded for Christmas which I later learned why

Excellent stay at tembo house hotel. The rooms were extremely clean, service was great and the restaurant on site was a nice addition. It was right in front of the beach which was super convenient. We got the bungalow right next to the water and it was such a fair price considering how large the room was and the proximity to the beach. Only small complaint is the shower water sometimes would be too hot or too cold no matter how many times you adjusted. The water pressure was also odd at times but nonetheless we mostly had hot water and great water pressure. Staying here again next time we come to stone town.

Beautiful historic hotel, with fantastic location by the sea and in the heart of Stone Town. Everything perfect, excellent quality and variety of breakfast, large and suggestive swimming pool, with sunbeds and towels always available, even near the sea. Excellent dishes also for lunch and dinner. A few days at Tembo are absolutely recommended.

Floating in that pool and looking up at the charming historical designs was amazing! Great food & service at beach front restaurant, but no alcohol served on property. The restaurant next door has good food, drinks & music.
Huge bedroom & bathroom with excellent hot water & AC. Staff very helpful.

Lovely hotel for a stopover in Stone town for one night before going to the East of Zanzibar for the rest of the week.

Food and location were excellent with incredibly helpful staff, particularly Ali who always greeted us with a smile and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

I and my gf enjoyed Tembo House a lot. Clean, Central, Pleasant ; The Best Hotel in Town. I really loved the design which is very historical and modern at the same time. Our room was really really wide. Shower was great, wifi works perfect, and the bed is super comfortable. Staff is absolutely kind. Especially the manager Rahim took care of us a lot and he helped everything we needed. Their restaurant has delicious food by the way, we had our open buffet breakfast during our stay. There are dozens of food.. lunch options are also amazing. The pool is clean and enjoyable. When you walk out of the hotel, you find yourself in the heart of the town. You can go everywhere walk distance. I recommend all of you to stay here, you will love it!

Tembo House in Zanzibar is simply unforgettable. The staff went above and beyond from the get-go. When my girlfriend's luggage got lost, they were on the case at 4 am, offering to help before we even got to our room. The next morning, waking up to stunning beach views made us feel like we were in paradise. Exploring Stone Town, chatting with friendly locals, and enjoying a spectacular dinner at the hotel, topped off with a mesmerizing performance by a local artist—each moment was special. The traditional Tanzanian room added to the charm, with its clean, romantic atmosphere. The staff's warmth and genuine conversations about football and Zanzibar's culture made our stay truly memorable. A big thank you to everyone at Tembo House for their hospitality. We hope to visit again someday!

We were there for 5 days and it was really nice. Not a great luxury hotel but for sure better than what we expected. The staff was helpful and polite, we never encountered any problems. Our room was cleaned every day and all supplies were restored. Also there was a tv, air-conditioner, celling fan...
There are 4 buildings. One of them is with the main desk, restaurant, two pools and it is located on the public beach. We were in one of the other three, but we could use all the facilities in the main one, and we also had a pool in our building. All four of them are 10 steps away from each other. We only had breakfast in the hotel restaurant but it was diverse and satisfying.

Absolutely lively accomodations with incredibly friendly staff. I felt so at home. Smack in the middle of Sone Town, where I walked for hours.
I definitely would stay here again!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Tembo House Hotel during my visit to Stone Town, Zanzibar, and I must say, it was an experience to remember. From the moment I walked into the historic hotel, I felt like I had stepped into a bygone era of Zanzibar's rich cultural heritage.

**Check-In and Reception.

The check-in process was smooth, and the staff at the reception were warm and welcoming. They provided me with a refreshing welcome drink and a cold towel, which was a lovely touch after my journey to Stone Town. The check-in area itself exuded an old-world charm, with its antique furniture and Persian rugs.

**Accommodation.

I stayed in one of their Deluxe Rooms, and it was absolutely stunning. The room was spacious, elegantly decorated with a blend of traditional Zanzibari and modern furnishings. The four-poster bed with mosquito netting added a touch of romance, and the room's high ceilings and large windows offered a view of the courtyard and the Indian Ocean in the distance. The room was impeccably clean, and the air conditioning worked perfectly, providing a welcome escape from the Stone Town heat.

**Dining.

One of the highlights of my stay was the food. The hotel's restaurant offered a variety of local and international dishes. Breakfast, served on the terrace overlooking the sea, was a particular delight. Fresh fruit, pastries, and traditional Zanzibari dishes were on the menu, and the coffee was exceptional. The only reason I'm not giving it a full five stars is that the service during dinner was a bit slow on one evening, but the quality of the food made up for it.

**Historical Charm.

Tembo House Hotel is a historical gem. It was once the American Consulate in the 1830s and later the home of a famous Swahili princess. The architecture and interior design of the hotel have been preserved beautifully, with intricate wooden doors, antique furniture, and a sense of history in every corner. Exploring the corridors and courtyards of the hotel felt like a journey back in time, and I was fascinated by the stories that seemed to linger in its walls.

**Location.

The hotel's location is unbeatable. It's right in the heart of Stone Town, which meant I could easily explore the winding alleys, historic sites, and vibrant markets on foot. The hotel also has direct access to the beach, so I could enjoy both the city's cultural attractions and the beautiful shoreline.

**Service.
The staff at Tembo House Hotel were generally friendly and attentive. They helped me with booking tours and transportation, and they were knowledgeable about the area. However, as mentioned earlier, there was a slight hiccup with service in the restaurant during one dinner, which was a bit disappointing.

**Overall Impression
My stay at Tembo House Hotel was a truly memorable experience. The combination of historical charm, comfortable accommodations, and an unbeatable location made it a fantastic choice for exploring Stone Town and the rest of Zanzibar. While there were minor service issues, they did not detract significantly from my overall enjoyment of this unique and enchanting hotel. I would highly recommend Tembo House Hotel to anyone looking to immerse themselves in the history and culture of Zanzibar while enjoying modern comforts.

I look forward to returning to this historical gem on my next visit to Zanzibar.

The best hotel in whole Zanzibar. The best quality and the best service. Especially the service I got from. Yusuf Talib, Faisal and Mansour. Everytime professional and open for a nice chat. Once the boss will fire them, I will never come back. 🌹
