Abeid Amani Karume International Airport Reviews

It's probably one of the best public buildings in Zanzibar!
The current score doesn't reflect the new terminal.. because they are different things (Google should modify).
There is a little of everything in there..free wi-fi, AC, small eating area, duty free, souvenir shop, clean toilets (in general clean and new building).
Easy check-in, informative panels.
Well done 👏 !

Negative (minor) aspects :
1. it's a must to take off your shoes during security check (and no disposable slippers provided - probably because of plastic interdiction).
2. Souvenir prices are big even for airport prices

*For those with negative reviews :
1. please don't relate the delay of your air company or the lack of professionalism of your travel agency with the airport itself. They have nothing in common.
2. Don't forget where you are..score the building for its entire environment..

The new T2 is so amazing. Clean, airy, full of natural light and smells so good. The efficiency of the immigration is unmatched.

It looks new. Inside and out it is neat and clean. Airport formalities are also very fast. Abeid Amani Karume International Airport is the main airport in the Zanzibar Archipelago located on Unguja Island, Zanzibar, Tanzania. It has flights to East Africa, Europe and the Middle East. It was previously known as Kisauni Airport and Zanzibar International Airport. It was renamed in 2010 in honour of Abeid Amani Karume the island's first president.

Well, bring some time with, but it’s getting better, they took a lot of Money to make the airport nice and modern, they are better organized then I expected. The business Lounge is also new and nice and the people are all very friendly.

I flew into Abeid Amani Karume International Airport during my recent trip to Zanzibar. The airport is modern, clean and well-organized, with friendly staff and efficient service. The check-in and security processes were smooth, and the airport provided a comfortable waiting area with several shops and restaurants. The airport has private taxis that offer easy transportation options to and from the city centre, making it a convenient gateway to the island. Overall, my experience at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport was positive, and I would recommend it to anyone travelling to Zanzibar.

Good facilities, friendly personnel, clean toilets. Not too big, not too small. Only few to none shopping possibilities.

Unboarding, collection, security, boarding and flying here is incredibly fast. Not sure at what cost the speed comes at though in terms of safety compared to North American standards.

This small airport but modern. I expect some time getting through immigration.
Prioritypass lounge is unique, in middle of gates. Offered lot of drinks and food.

This is a tiny airport with two terminals, ample space for parking, not too crowded, trolley facility to take your bags as you enter the airport.

Baggage drop and covid booth accessible as soon as you enter the airport, clean and small washrooms, courteous staff and lot of chairs for one to spend time reading/texting whilst waiting to board your flight.

The immigration system is super quick and smooth, won’t have long queues for there are fewer people.

Two cafes located inside to access coffee, pringles and quick snacks

Landed here for our holiday in Zanzibar. Wow what a lovely clean airport. Much better than Dubai airport. Toilet’s really clean and staff very helpful and happy. Would like to see a note about what visa paperwork is required to be completed before you queue up as some people only did one then held the queue up. Would also help if airlines landing had enough blank visas for you to fill in to save time. Thank you for the staff who work very hard to make sure the airport is kept in a very good condition.
