Sandies Baobab Beach

Best hotel in Nungwi (north part of the island). Great value for money, the room was spacious and clean, bed comfy, the food was absolutely amazing and great variety of different cuisines.
The location is one of the best of Zanzibar: no matter the time of the day, one can always go for a nice swim.
Highly recommended!

Very beautiful and well organised for a beautiful holiday to remember. The beautiful Dinner sets like an event, the stunning entertainment after dinner and during the the day very interesting, Good food, friendly workers and the beautiful beach is just amazing. definitely going back.

I've been lucky enough to travel the world and stay in many great hotels - but Zanzibar, and being the guest of Sandies Baobab especially, was one of the grandest experience of my life. I actually had tears leaving this place, which I can't recall has ever happened before...

This hotel is beautifully located right on the beach, on a particular plot not especially affected by the tides. (It is, however other parts of Nungwi and Zanzibar get so affected it is at times impossible to actually go for a swim which is not the case here.)

The entire resort is stunningly taken care of, beautiful trees and flowers throughout and a reasonably sized private beach and pool area. We stayed in a Superior Room that was perfect in size and design, meticulously cleaned and looked after every day. The bar serves great drink & snack options throughout the day, and the restaurant has an impressive buffet of various choices in very high quality. As with any All Inclusive food servings, it can of course get a little tideous if you're someone (like us) who loves food. Which is why we ventured down to Stonetown for a full day (where the hotel helped in booking a driver) and enjoyed fantastic cuisine and atmosphere. Favorite part of the week was "African Night" where the kitchen excelled in their cooking!

What sets this hotel apart though, is the people. I have never been met with more warmth & joy in my life - some of the people working in the kitchen, restaurant, cleaning and activity teams I will seriously carry with me forever because they elevated our trip with their personalities and hospitality. I simply can not recommend Sandies enough, if you're considering going to Zanzibar - this is the place to stay.

A few "good to know"s:

- As with most hotels nowadays, the sun beds gets booked by people in the very early hours, around 6.30 everyday. Obviously this is on us as guests, not at all on the hotel and shouldn't be reflected on them. However my one wish to Sandies would be that towels were removed after one hour as some other establishments are now implementing. We had a few days where spots we wanted were without people for up to 5 hours before they laid down. (Again, emphasizing here that this is a behavior of us who are guests at the hotel. So shoutout to all of us who enjoy to travel; let's all be less selfish next time we go somewhere and perhaps it will bring even more enjoyment to our joined experience?)

Beautiful hotel with an exceptional staff service. People are really kind and always ready to help. The hotel is well located with a beautiful beach in front. Highly recommended for a relaxing holiday!

Amazing location straight on the beach! Great staff, always present, joyful and helpful, the chef at the restaurant must be a fan of ratatouille, because the food is incroyable! Fresh fish every day and plenty of activities the rest of the time!

I absolutely loved this place: food, beach, staff, drinks. Everything was just perfect. I think this has been my best stay ever. And the views from the restaurant - awh, breathing 💘💘💘

We stay in this hotel for 10 nights on Christmas time this year. Just coming back today from Sandies Baobab Beach.
Rooms are clean. Everyday bedsheets and towels was changed. Fresh water bottle everyday leaved in our rooms.
Everything works perfect at our rooms. We broke a safety box 😢 in 5 minutes maintenance guy come to fixed for us.
Swimming pool with cristal water same as ocean. Fantastic beach with soft and white sand (in ocean is good to wear a swimmimg shoes as some stones are in to water). Planty of Sun beds on pool and beach never was struggle to find a Sun beds for our 5 People family.
Lovely spa the best feet massage I have in my life. For us all was perfect from rooms, spa, swimming area, beach and ocean, food and drinks but this what make our holiday so special it is of course a People.
The best and the most friendly Staff we meet in our live. From gardener through cleaning lady, pool boy, bar and kitchen Staff or towel center to management. Hotel orgonize Christmas Eve and Boxing Days with Santa and small gifts to our kids. This was a stunning. Such a great job. Specialy the Christmas Eve Dinner. Customer care in Europe can learn alot from Sandies Baobab Beach Staff. Always friendly, happy to help, smile, fun, hard working.Can feel very safe there alot of quard.
Dont forgot that Zanzibar is one on the poorest country on the World so please dont be surprise that local people try to stop People on the beach and try to sell something.
This is how the poorest People make a money in this country.
Also if you fly to Zanzibar do not forget about local kids they struggle with very simply thinks as sweets or school stuff. For as it is nothing for them everything.
We will coming back for sure.

Baobab Sandies is a fantastic resort in Nungwi .
The room was beatiful and also food was ok but, please, stop put curry on everything.
I think Baobab’s beach is probably the best to have a swim in Zanzibar in front of the village.
There are a lot of beach boys and Masai but it’s not a negative point. They are all good people and they do a lot of interesting excursion like swim with Dolphin (Mnemba) or Nakupenda Island . Thank you CICCIOBELLO and JUMA, you are so funny and professionally.

I want to do a special mention to Mussa , you made our vacation very special .
My girlfriend has every day Acquagym with him and she was so happy! Also good footballer , like sadio mane :)
He is also a very nice entertainment man : The ngoma ngoma traditional dancing show and Micheal Jacson show was very interesting.

I have just came back home and I cannot forget our wonderful holiday and the resort. A big thank for the staff, especially Entertaining team: Mussa, Erick, Saleh and others (I did not have a chance to know the names), they are so friendly with guests, make a lot of activities together: aqua gym, stretching, yoga, volleyball, table tennis, darts, village tour,also they make good presentation for evening shows or even have a good talk.

We will never forget these kind and funny people.

The room was nice, clean, and quite spacious, although it could be improved with a mini fridge like in many other similar hotels and resorts.

The service was very good, the only negative thing I can think of was that the hotel does not provide irons to guests upon request - you have to fill in a form, send your clothes to laundry services and pay to have your clothes ironed. Quite inconvenient. Otherwise service was very good and staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming.

A very big thank you to the restaurant manager Abbas; he went out of his way to make us feel welcome. Shukran Abbas!

The biggest negative of this hotel is the location. Although the entrance to the beach is nice, the entrance to the hotel from the main road can take up to 10 minutes by car, due to the bad condition of the road. Difficult to walk through too.

What a great place. Perfect position in Nungwe. Rooms were great. Food in buffet was excellent with change each night. Will be back

We spent 4 nights at Sandies. The rooms were small, but more than adequate as time was spent at the beach. All rooms have air conditioning. Bathrooms and shower facilities are well laid out. The hotel is ideally situated to take advantage of the beaches and sunsets which were spectacular. The bar, pool area and eating area have great views over the beaches. The buffet style foods were plentiful. The staff are attentive to all your needs and are great hosts for your stay. Highly recommended.

We have spent 4 nights in the hotel and we were very happy of our choice.
The best is the staff of the hotel, the service is great in general. My daughter celebrated her birthday during our stay and she got a welcome message in the bedroom, a cake and a great celebration at the restaurant. Thank you all!
The beach is great and clean, the view, the sunsets.. Toys are available for the kids. The beach is very easy to access and close.
Thank you to the hotel team and in particular to Mussa of the animation team! Our kids had fun with him and we liked his energy!

Points for improvement:
1/The restaurant is great, very close to the beach and great view. However too many birds sometimes, I don't know if something can be done for that
2/We were travelling with kids and they like to have ice cream when it's warm. The ice-cream was not included in the "all-in" package.

Our experience at the Sandies Baobab Resort was amazing. I would give 10 stars if I could and not for the luxurious style or posh or fancy that some people may look for during holidays. Most of all for the staff, the security, always kind, always smiling, always trying to accomodate people’s request with peaceful and sweet attitude. I will never forget my yoga lesson during the sunset! These people work so hard and do everything they do with love and care. I was crying the last day, I felt so much at home and I hope to go back one day. Asante Sana for everything you have done, my honey moon was perfect because of you! We came to Zanzibar for our beach wedding ceremony. Originally I had booked one resort on another part of the island and this resort to experience Nungwi. After spotty communication and my constantly following up with the other resort, I had to move on from them just a month before our trip. I reached out to Sandies and they were quick to help answer any questions that I had. I felt immediately relieved and knew I made the right decision. We arrived at the resort the day before our ceremony and met with 2 managers the next morning. They gave us some different ideas and options for our ceremony and dinner after. They thought of things that I hadn’t and truly made me feel great. And then the ceremony itself! This was truly amazing and made us both feel special! All was gorgeous and perfect! Our room was clean and made up everyday. The beach is gorgeous and great for swimming during the higher tide and perfect for walking and scenery when the tide is low. I cannot recommend this resort enough! Thank you, Sandies Baobab!

Best hotel in Zanzibar!!!!
- The beach at the hotel is the most beautiful around!!!!! Like at the Maledives!
- There are many nice restaurants around, to go for dinner or only a drink.
- The hotel is so nice, there are not too many people around and no big hotel komplex, just some rooms on a big areal with nice "garden".
- There was so much good food and drinks at breakfast, you could'nt choose :)
- The people are so kind and friendly, also if you have a problem or need something
-They also have a doctor in the hotel. Just be careful, it is expensive, especially, when he sends you to the hospital near. (North valley hospital)
- We loved to stay here and the time was much too short.
- The hotel areal is very safe, because there are security men all the time.
- The view is so amazing, the sun goes down at the beach so you have a beautiful sunset.

A super super beautiful hotel, in a natural area, with a private beach. I don't even have words for the hospitality of these people, their sympathy and attentiveness. We couldn't have chosen a better place for our honeymoon. Very affordable prices, lots of activities, lots of surprises and shows. It has a very good restaurant, with a lot of variety
