Casa do Mar - Porto Formoso

We loved having this quiet property all to ourselves. The view from the porch to the jetties and ocean is stunning. We had morning coffee and evening wine and snacks every day on the back porch. We spent most of our days exploring the island but enjoyed time relaxing at Casa do Mar. The seating in the living room was good for the two of us and we were able to connect to the tv to stream an a movie from Prime one evening. The kitchen is good for a short stay, appreciated the refrigerator and two burner oven. The kitchen was very well stocked with plates, utensils, and cookware. Nunos left us coffee and sugar with boxed creamer to get us started, along with a very nice welcome basket. The bathroom is a good size with good water pressure and heat. The beds are comfy with plenty of space in both sleeping areas. We walked down to the jetty and enjoyed exploring; we also walked down to Praia dos Moinhos beach one sunny afternoon and really enjoyed it, very tucked away and not crowded. The snack bar was nice to have available even though we didn't order. The location is good for exploring the island, but you'll definitely need a car. Nunos was an excellent host who answered any question we had. We would stay here again.
We didn't get to explore the Formoso area around Casa do Mar; we visited a little before busy season so some of the restaurant opening hours didn't work with our schedule. But it is a quaint and quiet little area.

Just spent six nights at this amazing place. The house is exactly as advertised--clean, quiet and well-appointed, with stunning views--lending itself to a fun and relaxing vacation by the sea. We also really loved the easy access to the nearby beach (Praia dos Moinhos), with its amazing snack bar, and the wonderful Maré Cheia restaurant, where we ate three times in six days. We can't wait to come back!

Small facility beautifully maintained with video explanation of events and beautiful tea building with tasting or cafe style ordering. Lovely grounds and view.
