Praia dos Moinhos

Had a tea and a piece of homemade banana cake at the Cafe. It was lovely even in the winter.

Nice small beach near Praia do Formosa. Guarded beach, facilities to shower plus toilets on top. The terrace cafe "The Mill" provides a beautiful selection of beers and simple, but good food.

Best beach in existence. I like my beaches, as my tapas: hot. And this beach is hot, sometimes the waves are calm but sometimes there are big waves. Big waves 4 life 🤙🤙🤙.

1. Bring sunscreen
2. Try the restaurant on the beach, its good
3. Bring swimwear
4. Bring sunshade, as there are no shadows.
5. Entry is free
6. And the most important rule: ALWAYS BEWARE THE PORTUGUESE MAN O' WAR

Locals will tell you this is the best beach on the island. And it is. Cliffs run along both sides with a little rock island in the horizon. The waves in Praia dos Minhos feel like the breath of the island with a current that's manageable which is always nice for those who want to experience the beauty of waves. That said, never underestimate the power of the ocean or you'll be reminded ;)

The most picturesque beach on the north coast. The water is rather deep though, with mighty waves. Has a smal stream leading to a secluded waterfall in the woods! A place not to be missed.

We found this lovely Beach and bar/restaurant by chance, we had the best prawn sandwiches ever !. A circular walk starts from here. Parking space a nightmare. ...The beach is known by locals and is not for swimming or children by the sea unless you know where the rocks are. The surf is very high and crashes onto the Beach. There are lifeguards there.

The beach is breathtaking. The sea warm and peaceful.

Nearby restaurant Maré Cheia was great, always share your meals, huge portions.

Beautiful beach, very clean and the ocean is very calm (compared to other places) because of the little natural bay. Perfect for swimming. They also have showers and wc and a bar.

A great beach with volcanic sand and clear water! The waves are big and fun. There is a lifeguard there in the season. An awesome way to spend the afternoon. It might be difficult to find parking and drive through the small town but once you're there you can have a great time.

Clean, sandy beach. It has a clean bathroom to change and use the toilet. It's very clean as well. We enjoyed sunbathing there in a sunny late afternoon.
