This was a fantastic spot to slow our vacation down. It is FLAT! We had done a lot of difficult hiking, and this was a lovely location to wander around. It has free parking and free entrance. There is also a supermarket at the end of the block, which was very convenient. There is a really fabulous little Cafe inside with fantastic food that I highly recommend. Even if you don't want to walk around, eat at the Cafe!

What a well done, clean, manicured park. Free entry, loved all the animals. Flowers are beautiful and several different varieties. Easy to get to, easy to enter, several paths through the different sections.

One of many beautiful botanical gardens in Ponta Delgada, although this one is probably my favorite thanks to it being free to enter! It's worth spending an hour or so wandering around and enjoying the flora and fauna.

So beautiful. You can park and walk around for free or you can pay to into a more curated garden area with waterfalls not far from parking. There is a museum nearby as well that costs 3 euros. It explains the volcanic history of island.

In the heart of Ponta Delgada - a surprise, for us! We were early for the cave tour nearby and decided to spend a half hour wandering around the grounds. That small walk turned into an hour and a half visit, with a small lunch at the cafe embedded into the grounds, and a photo session for a lovely Portugese family at the massive ficus tree to the southeastern end of the park. For parents: there's a fair amount of trash stashed away in the corners of the basalt structures at the gardens, watch your kiddos!

A MUST SEE site if you like plants & animals, and have time to meander the pathways, this garden is pleasing even during Winter!

Antonio Borges Botanical Garden (Part 1 of 2): Free Admission, delightful park with a heartwarming community feeling. From the 19th century, created by António Borges, an Azorean merchant and politician. Lava rock & basalt were used in the garden design to create fun grottoes, caves, bridges, interesting pathways, plenty of benches & growing environments. Today a surprise drama erupts.

Antonio Borges Botanical Garden (Part 2 of 2): Free Admission, delightful park with a heartwarming community feeling. Today the park is a municipal heritage and the green lung of the city center. It portrays the romantic and picturesque spirit of the 19th century and is used for diverse community activities and a surprise drama resolves as volunteer city residents care for the animals who live within this charming garden.

A beautiful, peaceful spot in the middle of the bustling city. Open to the public, no admission, and just the most stunning, secret spots to sit and admire the hundreds of flora specimens from around the world. Also, ducks, roosters and cats. ❤

Very pretty part to stop at! They have a small cafe there, but it was pretty busy in early afternoon. There's a small pond where we saw baby ducks. There's also some paths to walk which are nice.

Beautiful and well kept garden, free to enter, there are ducks and chickens living there. Inside there is also a lovely coffee shop/cafe. Unfortunately it was raining when we visited but I would recommend even on a drizzly day.

Great improvements on plant life and general mantainance.
We found the park very family friendly.
Warning!
You will be attracted to one or two plants and never want to leave.

Beautiful garden.

I came here instead of paying a whopping 5€ at the botanical gardens near the presidential palace😑. I guess the president is short on money 🧐?

Can't speak to what I missed, but I spent over an hour exploring all the caves and various paths in this lush and beautifully preserved park from the mid-1800s. Considering I was unknowingly stuck in the town during the public holiday on October 5, I found this to be a great respite.

This is a very nice little park. Compared to the Jardim Botanico José do Canto it was very well maintained at the time of our visit (late February) and unlike the José do Canto it is free to visit. I really liked the little winding paths through the park. A very nice, quiet and green place that I can recommend to visit.

A beautiful botanical garden a few minutes away from the city center of Ponta Delgada. It is easy to find, a nice, relaxing spot, recommended for everyone. The garden has a nice, modern style small restaurant as well.
