The Holy Cow Hostel

The hostel is in a very good position on the main street. This make it perfect to walk around the city but can be noisy during the night. The host were very helpful with any information needed. Great and abundant breakfast with perfect service. The kitchen and common spaces are big and equipped with anything would need. Very clean and tide place with bathroom in the shared rooms.

The Holy Cow Hostel is a fantastic place to stay. The rooms are very clean and have an own bathroom. Goncalo the owner has always some Tipps for the best hike or the best restaurants. It’s only 5 minutes walk to the city center. The breakfast is always delicious with fresh bread, sausage, cereals, local cheese and fruit. When you come home after a long day of exploring you will always find some handmade cake or cinnamon-rolls. Overall I had a fantastic time here.

I stayed here for a couple nights when visiting the island. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay! The owners are great- very responsive and made check in easy. They make a yummy breakfast and give great recommendations too. I would recommend the Holy Cow to anyone looking for a place to stay. Very clean and comfortable rooms too!

Loved our stay at this cozy little hostel. The place is fresh, well decorated with hotel level private rooms. The rooms have a really stylish bathrooms and a ventilator above the bed which turned out to be really helpful in such a humid climate.

Breakfast was delicious with food prepared by the hosts. The hosts accompanied us during the breakfast and gave great tips about discovering the islands, overview of their history and culture.

Great place to stay! Clean, comfortable rooms. Breakfast included was really great. Check in and out was easy. Location was great for hiking up near sete cidades and exploring Ponta delgado. Street parking was easily available. Great stay for the money- I would definitely recommend staying here!

Gonçalo is such a kind host! He is very helpful and provides a great service. The hostel itself is well designed, clean, cozy. I felt at home! It’s also a quick walk to the city center and a car rental is down the street. I would definitely stay here again! Até já :)

Found a bed here at the literal last minute. My original accommodation had got canceled at the last minute due to Covid and this was my 2nd hostel on the island.

On the website they were fully booked, but I decided to call and ask and I got lucky. The hostel is one of the absolute best hostels I've been to!

It's got a very calm lounge vibe, maybe also thanks to the very relaxed and warm José and his partner. It's got a beautiful modern design and they seem to keep the upper bunk beds free, so it doesn't get overcrowded - which hostel is so cool? The breakfast was unexpectedly great - I got to know about the special jams of Sao Miguel and this Carob bread. And they had diary-free milks 😍.

Yes, it takes 15 minutes lf walking into Ponta Delgada, but if you happen smart like most travellers (not me lol), you will rent a scooter or car ahead and then it doesn't matter. (You. Have. To. Have. A. Car on Sao Miguel!)

I would come back any time. Hope it stays like this!

Host was nice, hostel was clean and my bed was clean and comfortable. Apron arrival, I was offered tasty food and had clean towels for my shower, WC was impeccablely clean. In the morning the host had my table set up for a nice breakfast with fresh bread and homemade banana cake. Absolutely worth all your time to stay this amazing hostel.

We arrived at late evening at the airport of Ponta Delgada and planned to stay one night, until we continue to Sao Jorge on the next day.

When we arrived, Goncalo waited for us and gave us a warm welcome, together with some tips for how to spend the next few hours in the late evening.

The room itself was clean and we had a pleasant night.

In the next morning, Goncalo waited for us downstairs with a nice breakfast and he as a local gave us valuable tips and insights that helped us to plan the next days on the Azores better than we could have ourselves.

We three would absolutely recommend The Holy Cow Hostel to everyone who is watching out for some pleasant nights in familiar and personal atmosphere, coupled with amazing insights of a local.

Gonçalo & Ana are very friendly, the breakfast is delicious and the hostel is very nice, cosy and clean. 2 bathrooms in the dorms that's handy. Everything you need in the kitchen. I was there in low season so mostly alone there but it was great. Breakfast is delicious!! I returned there a few times during my trip in the Azores and would return there in the future ;) thanks again!

Perfect hostel at center of Ponta Delgada and just 10 minutes from the airport.

Rooms are large and extremely clean.

The quality of the wi-fi is excellent, which made it easy for us to search for places to visit on the island.

Definitely a good choice to stay in Ponta Delgada. Goncalo and his colleagues are very friendly, give you advices what places to visit, and you feel like at home during your stay. The hostel is really cozy and near the city centre.

Best place to be in island. Very clean, excellent breakfest, owner is and others are so welcoming. We will return again.

I knocked on the hostel door without any booking and could't expected better welcome. Goncalo offered me a delicious breakfast and gave me some great tips on visiting Ponta Delgada. Super staff, super cozy, super clean!

I booked for two nights but only stayed for one, Gonçalo very graciously only charged me for one. Holy Cow is prime hospitality, and Gonçalo was very helpful.

Our stay here was wonderful, it had very comfortable beds and great bathrooms, large spotless rooms, a good breakfast, and amazing staff that were so kind and helpful. We would highly recommend as a family of 4, also it was very good for kids.

We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Holy Cow Hostel. “ Holy Cow” is very appropriate to describe this place. We have been travelling in numerous places in Portugal and by far this is our favourite accommodations. First time staying in a Hostel and will not be our last. Goncallo is an excellent host and always available to provide help and guidance. Staff is also friendly as well. I cannot say enough nice things about this place . “ Holy Cow”…….
