Out of the Blue Azores

Had an amazing experience staying a night here last summer. The service is great and the location is very convenient - most attractions in the city are easily within walking distance. The hostel has an awesome vibrant atmosphere, but quiets down at night allowing for a good sleep. Clean facilities and outstanding breakfast. Lots of local dishes available at dinner too, including a very-tasty Bacalhau a bras.

Good hostel with great accommodations. The reception staff are majority volunteers so there's probably someone there who speaks your language. There's a lot going on here, definitely a good hostel for an active solo tourist or a young couple. Breakfast is outstanding, price is hard to beat.

Beautiful hostel with awesome staff + travellers!! The garden is gorgeous with a very chill and social atmosphere. Ducks and cat are so cute. Free and great breakfast, good discounts for dinner at Taberna. Met awesome people. Honestly, would come back to São Miguel just for this hostel even if there was nothing else to do❤❤

Had a fantastic stay at the hostel - rooms were very clean, location was very convenient, good breakfast, excellent tours, and, most importantly, the staff were so friendly and helpful throughout the whole stay! I really highly recommend this place! Hotel is really clean, breakfasts were deliciuos, there was everything perfect. It’s close to center of the city, quick room cleaning but THE BEST are people who are working there. They are extremely wonderful, always smiling, ready to solve any problem. Last day when we had early flight the breakfast was waiting for us. Hotel is made in nice atmosphere which you can feel from begining.
I recommend it to everyone! ♥

It was a perfect hostel with a nice backyard, sweet ducks swimming in the pond. The rooms were clean, staff were knowledgeable and polite. If only the price were a little bit lower it would be 10 out of 10. For 35EUR a night in a bunk bed let it be a 9. But, anyway... Hostel is perfect. One of the best I have ever stayed in.

It was already a few years ago that I stayed one night but I felt the need to congratulate the team again on this place. The rooms are beautiful and clean! Atmosphere great and the best breakfast I had in hostel!

A friend of mine suggested this hostel if visiting Ponta Delgado, Azores. He had good things to say, so here is my experience -
STAFF: Very cordial, inviting and friendly.
LOCATION: Central to downtown "Centro" and close to the waterfront
ROOMS: The whole hotel is kept clean. The beds were very comfortable and the towels are provided. It's almost like a Hotel from cleanliness, amenities. The common areas are well kept and nice color scheme. One thing to watch is if on lower bunk, you are certainly going to know your skull several times
SURPRISE: The terrace garden.
FOOD: the food is supposed to be very good but I left very early so couldn't experience it.

Stayed here with my wife for an anniversary and it was the perfect spot to explore the island and city of Ponta Delgada from. It is located only a few minutes walk from the heart of the city and about 10 minutes from the waterfront. The staff were super accommodating and available to help assist with early check in or preparing an early breakfast. We stayed in a private room which was spacious and very quiet. This seems like a hostel that caters more to families, couples, and more seasoned travelers. I did not get the sense that it is a party hostel. They have a lovely garden where they serve a delicious breakfast everyday. I really had no complaints. The design of the place and colors are kind of weird. Purple and orange paint and weird sculptures everywhere that look like they were picked randomly out of a catalogue but that is a matter of taste. There is no parking but they recommend a few free lots near the hostel. We were able to find a spot in at least one of them each time.

Out of the Blue Hostel in San Miguel is an absolute must when visiting this stunning island. The atmosphere here is incredibly pure and wonderfully social. Everyone you meet shares the same passion for travel and exploration !

During my stay, I had the pleasure of staying in the 6-bed dorm, and it was spacious, complete with a balcony, A/C to keep cool, under-bed lockers (remember to bring a big padlock), and daily linen changing and cleaning, ensuring a comfortable and clean space throughout my visit.

What truly sets this hostel apart is its exceptional staff, who are always available to help. But it's the volunteers, Marcel, Maria, and Lucian - who truly made my experience unforgettable. Their positive energy and sense of fun were infectious.

Don't miss Marcel's tours on Sundays and Mondays, especially if you get the chance to explore Sete Cidades, this quickly became my favorite place on the island after my lOth visit !!

The hostel also boasts a unique feature with a resident cat and two ducks that wander around the communal garden, which is like a little piece of paradise. The garden is filled with fruit-bearing trees, inviting hammocks, and cozy seating areas, making it the ideal spot for relaxation.

The heartiest part of the day has to be breakfast.
It's top notch, filling, and absolutely delicious. Also a great area and time to meet and discuss plans for the day with others!

A special shoutout to the hardworking cleaners of the hostel who do an excellent job in maintaining the space day in and day out.

Out of the Blue Hostel provides everything you need for a short or extended stay, and I strongly advise booking in advance to secure your spot even in low season! It has been one of the highlights of my travels so far, and I can't wait to return to this remarkable hostel on beautiful San Miguel island.

I was beyond impressed with my week long stay at the hostel. Staff is such a blast and very welcoming, I had a great time meeting all of them. It’s extremely clean (legit feels like bathrooms are cleaned 20 times a day), and the beds are super comfortable with really nice sheets. The free breakfast is a large portion and is amazing, and the attached restaurant has amazing food for dinner. Spent so much time relaxing in the garden and meeting other travellers. I can’t imagine a better hostel for my experience on the island, highly highly recommend!

We loved our stay in the hostel! Had a private room for two which was clean and spacious with a private bathroom. Breakfast was so tasty and brought out to you around the communal table where everyone was keen to chat - best hostel breakfast ever! Shout out to our tour guide Louis for a great day tour - amazing energy and took us on a great waterfall hike.

This place was really great, like really great. I stayed in the Villa and it was super clean, quiet and spacious. Better than that were the people working there. They, were simply amazing and were sooooo helpful and accommodating I can't say enough about them!

Breakfast included was super cool. You sit down and food arrives. You don't even have to order!

Additionally, the tours they run were fantastic. I went on 2 during my 3 days stay and had so many new experiences and connected with the guide and other guests. Overall, it was a super awesome time!

Maybe the best hostel I've started in. Immaculately clean. The people were all very nice and respectful and the atmosphere was so uplifting with vibrant colors and a luscious garden. An added bonus: we sat down for breakfast and they came out and served us a gourmet egg toast and beet root pancakes

By far one of the best hostels I have ever stayed!
First of all is the location close to all the restaurants etc. because it is in the middle of the city center. But they also have this amazing hostel garden which is just super relaxed to hangout but they have also a restaurant and the food is just amazing.

The hostel is super clean, they clean your bed and sheets every morning and leave you fresh towels. The breakfast is included and they surprise you every morning again with a delicious and health breakie. Honestly this is a hostel with a 5 star hotel service! The staff is super friendly and helpful, you guys are doing a great job! Thanks for all the hospitality and this wonderful stay!

we had our most enjoyable vacation yet, staying here. Went on two all day tours, had delicious breakfasts, and lovely evenings on their back patio

I went there early 2020 and it was a memorable moment. We had a lovely barbecue on one night, and there were activities planned on few days of the week. The place was clean and neat :)

I've been there with my best friend and we had a really nice experience. The staff was great and the breakfast was wonderful!
