Oceanic Café

We dined here twice while we were in Horta. The cocktails were delicious and the wine selection is also great! Order off the barbecue and you won’t be disappointed! Tuna steak was one of the best we’ve had on our trip!

Nice cocktails and ambience. We visited Oceanic for an aperitif before dinner. The place is lovely, cocktails are good and service is fast. There is a yard at the back (with a grill) that should be nice in the evenings. We’ll visit again for dinner.

Friendly and young waiters, delicious food. Chili com carne was so delicious, I highly recommend. Oceanic Toast B was a bit dry but still delicious.

We have eaten here twice in a four day visit to the island and love it. (We would eat here every night but they might think we are weird. Ha.). Atmosphere is fun and casual and the servers are super-friendly and very attentive. My chicken burger and my wife’s salad were nothing special, but the overall atmosphere made it feel so much more than the sum of its parts. The owner has the servers to thank for that! I certainly recommend it for a casual, fun dinner. Several diners were having the flaming hotdog or whatever it is that comes to your table in flames and they seemed to enjoy it. We didn’t hang around for the bar hours later in the evening, but I bet that is fun too!

Really good food ans friendly staff. I can really recommend the garlic bread and especially the chickenwings. But also the swordfish, the Burger and the different vegetarian options were really delicious. It‘s located well and has a nice terrace in the back. There‘s always a lot of people, for that reason we had to wait a little bit for our food but that‘s okay. Atleast we were able to go there twice with no reservation because it has a lot of space. Also: the price is really fair!

We were at this place almost every night while staying in Horta. First day was really crowded but waiter on the entrence manage everything quite fast. So, even if it is line waiting for free tables, it is pretty good chance that you won't wait long.
Stuff is really amazing, friendly and hard working. Girl who takes orders is really a machine :)

Food: we really love lapas (limpets), garlic bread and swordfish.

We ate the shrimp toast, salad and some appetizers. Portions were big. The gin was also good. Good variety of cocktails.

Very cozy and welcoming Bar, we liked the laid back and familiar atmosphere, and the very friendly, attentive Service Crew. ( I forgot something on the table when we left, and they looked for me in the street and brought it back to me! ) They serve very nice organic wines and also the beer selection looks very good. I liked the mix of locals and visitors.
We will definitely come back for the live music and the food!! And thanks for the nice evenings !

This is just a must visit in Horta.

Cracking music venue later on. Arrived 10:30 to see Angie Reed perform with her band the 'Mistakes'. Good sound, nice atmosphere (the big front doors get flung open to the fresh air, allowing people to stand outside and still enjoy the band!). Great drinks prices for essentially what becomes a night club. Popular with all age groups, although did notice more young people dancing after midnight! Beer on draught and a wide variety of drinks and mixers.

I was lonely and miserable, plans to hang out with a friend in Horta fell through, and I wasn't sure where I was spending the night. I came in for WiFi and a drink to help stiffen my upper lip. I am so glad I found this place.

Spending every evening here very quickly became the best part of my visit to Faial. The staff are a tight crew, they work incredibly hard, and they enjoy it. The manager has great stories, and made sure I had everything I needed. He even let me request a bunch of random songs when things died down a little.

Even though it says the cafe closes at 2am on GoogleMaps, the crew is ready to be up all night so long as there's a sufficient crowd, so it is the place for you if you like late drinks. On my first night (a Tuesday), the place had trickled down to only a few stragglers at 1:30am, but the crew weren't winding the place down, they were arming up for the next wave. And it happened. Right before 2, a crowd of sailors came in, all thirsty and friendly, and they were open for another few hours.

If it weren't inconvenient, I'd consider visiting the Azores again, just to come back to the Oceanic Cafe.

Absolute class: Great international vibe, great music, great beers! And be sure to try the Regional Sausage, flame-grilled to perfection at your table, along with a pint of Oceanic Whitecap! Highly recommended.

Nice spot for a drink and munchies. Loved the Nachos and charcuterie board too. Beautiful high wood ceiling and friendly staff. Really nice place to relax and enjoy an evening.

I only visited Oceanic once, but was very impressed. Lovely wooden design inside with some great artwork on the walls.

The bar was well stocked and (typically Azorean) friendly staff. Looked like some tasty bar snacks, too (but I didn't try them).

Associated with the bar is an art gallery, with beautiful prints of local sea life, my personal favourite being the Portuguese Man O' War and the Pilot Whale.

Worthwhile calling in. Oh, and wi-fi is available too.
