Faial Botanical Garden

A nice place to visit even in winter, it was a real surprise: we did not expect to find such a rich variety of orchids and a demonstration of the endemic vegetal life of the archipelago.

The cat Tarzan was super keen to welcome and cuddle the visitors.

The person at the reception was very nice and available to explanations and chat.

5 €/person, and it was worth it. Don't miss it!

Nice place to spend a couple of hours - having an enjoyable walk, looking at plants and learning more about native Azores plants, invasive species and the efforts people are putting to keep the bio diversity. You can start by watching a movie in which you learn more about the preservation efforts and history of the garden. The garden itself is quite big and has been recently extended. There are different sections - native Azores plants, "exotic plants" which have been imported here, and there's also an orchiderium

€5 to enter if you are not Azorian resident. They have the most rare and beautiful orchids and freeze seeds of endangered species to replant in region

Interesting place to see how the local flora changed over the past in the Azores. Very recommended.

Very nice and educational place. You will learn a lot about the endemic flora of the Azores and how much is invested to save this piece of nature for the Future. Absolut lovely is the Collection of orchides. Try to get a guide for the garden. And dont forget to hike a little bit through the Valley of Flamengos.

Oke I have a thing for botanical gardens. Love to see all the exotic plants and admire then. Dreaming of having that in my living room and garden. So ofcours I wanted to visit this botanical garden! But to my surprise this garden is about the indigenous plants of Azores. About preserving and educating about these plants.

What's good to know is that you can buy a separate ticket for the gardens, like we did. But also, if you have more time, a combined ticket for some other sights on Fajal.

Beautiful place to to visit and learn about plants and flowers native to the islands.

Very interesting and can learn about the species of the island with the initial video and from the staff. Worth to visit for those who love nature.
