Avis Car Hire Ponta Delgada Airport

We reserved with Avis; picked up car from ilha verde kiosk. Good service, car was good size for us with small luggage and diesel. Easy to use, lot was right outside the airport doors. We experienced an issue with the car and returned to exchange and we’re quickly put into another vehicle and on our way. Return was fast and they were apologetic about the vehicle issue and having to return to the airport to exchange, and due to mileage of the car there was no charge for the issue. Would use again!

Cheap, nice service and located very conveniently next to departures and arrivals. No complaints

Le bureau de check-in n'est en effet pas très clair mais au final nous avons peu attendu.
La voiture avait plus de 100 000 km et ne sentait pas très bon mais elle nous a emmené partout.
Nous avions loué la toute première catégorie, similaire à twingo, et nous avons eu une clio break, bonne motorisation diesel, rendant la conduite en montagne très confortable.
Aucun problème avec le personnel.

Avis soustraite a ilha verde, effectivement c'est pas clair mais ça le devient rapidement car arrivé avec toute une flopée de touristes comme nous on est tous dans le même bateau.
Nous voilà à l'agence ilha verde, on est au moins 20 et là on se dit ça va être interminable comme vu sur d'autre commentaires. On a vu débarqué 3 agents pour renforcer l'équipe seul qui était en place du coup en 30 minutes c'était réglé.
Tour de la voiture a l'aller avec une femme très gentil (tatoué), le retour s'est bien passé également.
Je ne mets que 4 pour le manque de clarté d'où il faut aller et le véhicule un peu moyen (bruit suspect parfois)

At first, there was a long queue and 2 hours of waiting so that they could give us the car.
Security deposit of 3000 euros, which seems excessive to me. I paid less because I booked with a business code.
The return of the car was quick, and the security deposit was returned immediately after verification of the car.
I booked with Avis in Porto but in the Azores, it is the Ilha Verde company that manages the reservation.

Nesta altura do ano, Setembro, em Ponta Delgada, não é possível arranjar uma viatura no aeroporto para quem chega sem reserva antecipada. O excesso de turismo sazonal, condiciona as diversas empresas de aluguer de veículos à existência de mais automóveis na sua frota, bem sabendo que chegando o inverno terão excesso de viaturas paradas. Esta empresa é uma das mais conceituadas no ramo mas também não dispunha de veículo para aluguer no imediato. Assim, recomenda-se a reserva antecipada.

Al principio muchísima cola y 2 horas de espera para que nos pudieran dar el carro.

Depósito de seguridad de 3000 euros, lo que me parece excesivo. Yo pagué menos porque reservo con un código business.

La devolución del carro fue rápida y el depósito de seguridad fue devuelto de inmediato luego de la verificación del carro.

Car was OK but they subcontract to ilha Verde, just like europcar and they always have the longest queues - expect to wait an hour. Meanwhile the other desks in the terminal are empty ...
Try varela rent a car or Hertz unless you like standing in arrivals halls for half the holiday

The problem with Avis here is that is operated by one of the worst rental companies ever: Ilha Verde. Don't use any of the Avis related brands when coming to ponta delgada.

Also, don't be fooled by where it says "Avis" - that's "returns only", you need to wait in the longest line in the archipelago.
