Restaurante Poço Azul

Cozy restaurant in a smaller village with a welcoming atmosphere and very friendly service. The menu is limited, but original, with not less than 4 vegetarian options! With Azorean touch to it. I had the Azorean root curry and it was delicious. Highly recommended.

I'm a total food snob and I have to say, this place has some of the best food on the entire island and provided one of my favorite meals in all of Portugal. Most importantly, they know how to season their food, which can be hard to come by on this island. Second, the staff is friendly, kind, and very welcoming. Lastly, their lunch buffet (which at first seemed like an unappealing idea to me) had hit after hit: the small fried fish, the pork with clams, the feijoada, the bacalao with potatoes -- all of them were incredibly flavorful and very well done. Easy 5 stars here, this place delivers!

Food was delicious. If I will point out one thing it will be GARLIC!
For those who don’t like ASK them to prepare dish without it .
All other things were awesome :)

Great restaurant. I stumbled across this while casually walking around. We got the lunch buffet and were pleasantly surprised. The food was great and the staff did a good job of explaining the local dishes. They also had some less exotic food options like beef stroganoff and French fries. We had our server choose our deserts not knowing what to get and it was the best thing we did. We got a cheesecake and the Something Blue with some espresso which was delicious. Great waitstaff they were very attentive and professional. I would highly recommend This restaurant.

The staff is super friendly. The buffet has an amazing quality and big variety for a very good price. Would definitely come back to this place!

We had a wonderful lunch at this amazing restaurant today!! It was full of customers when we arrived, the host worked hard to get us to seats in quick time. The food, the ambience and the customer service was impeccable!! We had an opportunity to speak with the owner and his warmth and pride in his restaurant and staff shined though. One of the best meals we’ve had!! I highly reoommend it!!!

What a lovely place!! Great service, delicious food and portions are very generous. There is also decent vegetarian menu. We ordered beans stew with seafood which was recommended for 2 people, but you could easily feed 3 people! Will visit again!

We loved this place! The Feijoada seafood stew was excellent! We had one in our party that was a vegan so they made an excellent curry dish for her that became the best meal of the trip

Bufet cost 10 euro, no matter how many platers you would like to eat. Daily fish on board. Totally charming place one of my favourite on Sao Miguel. The interior of restaurant resembling old times.

What a gem of a place! We had lunch, the seafood bean stew, it was delicious! Very filling, they did not skimp on the seafood and the serving could have been enough for 4! Garlic bread was yummy 🤤 and the local fresh cheese with preserves was nice. Pricing was very reasonable especially for the portion size we received. Definitely check this place out if you are in the area!

Very tasty traditional food, the best food we had in San Miguel! Service was also great. we had seafood stew with beans and octopus, both were amazing!

Incredible dedicated vegan menu with loads of options, including seitan, tofu, and chocolate mousse for dessert! Huge portions and super tasty. Friendliest staff too, I couldn't recommend this place enough!

We chose the Fish Of The Day twice and didn’t ask what it was. Honestly, at first we were a bit surprised and thought we should have asked before ordering - and then it was the best we could have taken! The owner of the place explained to us that this is a traditional meal on the island and we simply loved it. Prices are more than fair. 100% recommend the place!

Poco Azule was amazing. Such delicious food. All of the staff were so nice and helpful. André answered all of our questions about the delicious food that we had from the buffet and recommended others we had not tried. It was a tie between the white bean with pork (old family recipe) and the octopus with potatoes in brown sauce for me. But everything was sooo good. I would highly recommend Poco Azul to anyone

We had a great dinner on our last night on Sao Miguel here. The Cod fish comes with vegetables and potatoes in an interesting ceramic. Same sides for the tuna, which was nicely prepared. Very reasonable pricing (Fish, lemonade, wine and starter for 40€ for 2)! Definitely a recommendation to go! :) Thank you

Great little restaurant that offers buffet and a la carte menu. Delicious food and very reasonable prices! Vegan options available. The staff was very friendly and helpful, explained to me all the vegan options.
