Firstly, the new owners have changed the place completely - now it is modern with new menu and ambience!

The food and the service are very good.
Two times we visited, the experience was great. Just make sure you book the table ahead, especially in high season!

Best traditional Douro food I’ve had in a long time and I’ve been coming to Douro for 27 years!

The restaurant recently changed ownership and the new team have changed the menu to bring flavor, quality ingredients, and local dishes to a very peaceful and lovely setting.

Also, the wine recommendation was spot on! The white “Manoella” from Wine & Soul paired well with fish and meat to do the trick.

Ambience is stark and bright but don’t be fooled, the kitchen is putting out superb dishes. Nice wine selection. The Goat (called lamb on the menu in English) was out of this world. We finished with a port wine soaked cake. Our server was super friendly and helpful. Went here with no expectations and was blown away.

Had a lovely evening meal here. A good range of traditional dishes on the menu but not too much that it was overwhelming, very reasonably priced, ambient atmosphere and fab interior decor. Food tasted amazing. The place didn’t look anything like other review photos - possibly renovated recently. We went early as soon as it opened at 7 but the place soon filled up. It’s cash only, this was signposted on the door.

Wow! Hearty food and so plentiful. We ate at lunch service and the restaurant was packed with local people so our expectations were high. Expectations met! A jug of house wine along with our tasty lunch made for a fantastic stop. Prices were very reasonable too!

Excellent little restaurant on the banks of the Douro; the fish casserole was exceptional and the service was 5 star.

Our river cruise had a stop here. We went out in town. In the afternoon not much going on but in the evening town had some sort of celebration going on and we had great fun here.

I believe that 4,1 is very low assessment for this restaurant. We arrived quite late in the evening 21:30-ish and the waitress saw my fiancé being pregnant and allowed us to sit and eat. She was very transparent that they were busy and that it would take time, which was no issue for us. Good service and the codfish dish we had was well-prepared and with high quality ingredients. We highly recommend this restaurant!

Came here for lunch during a wine tour. Food was good & so was the wine. Excellent home made chips. I had rabbit.

Excellent service and a wonderful vegan meal. Reservations required and alert chef to dietary restrictions. They go above and beyond to please.

Best meal and service in Portugal. Try the octopus and bacalhaul for two (easily enough for three adults).

We had a grate evening with shrimps wine and grilled sea bass.

Delicious food, fast and friendly service, and at a great price! I had the pork belly which came with fries but also ordered a salad. The dressing on the salad was light and a perfect addition to the grilled pork belly and fries I ordered as the main. Highly recommend!

Great food, great wine. We ate until our bellies were full and drank two bottles of wine (try the Green!) for only 45 euros. The staff were friendly and always smiling, even though were having some communication issues. A solid mom and pops shop. Don't forget to try the Drunk Cake.

A cute place serving a small menu of local food options with huge portions and great value (especially compared to some of the overpriced places in the area) My meal could easily have served two and half a bottle of wine is only €2! Attentive waitstaff and pleasant river view 👌🏻
