Railway Station Pinhão

The wine shop in this train station has the BEST pastel da nata that we have had in our trip. We have been to Porto and Regua and tasted many of these pastries. We have more places to go to...but.. . Def try these pastries here. Why not have some port as well......

Most stations on the Douro route have had or are in process of preservation efforts to retain their original charm. The Pinhao station exterior appears to be complete and is full of tiles depicting wine production processes of the region. It's very beautiful, make sure that you see both the rail side and the street side.

Just off a boat and looking for somewhere to eat before the train arrived. Found Douro bites upstairs IN the station. Newly opened this lovely classy venue serves a limited but delicious and fresh menu.
We were offered a octopus salad served with beer- wonderful as a light meal or snack. We then had the chocolate cake with grapes and a chilli jam!! So good- with a tawny port.
Thanks to the owner (we didn’t ask her name! ) for the lovely place, beautifully decorated and with a fantastic riverside view! What a find! It’s upstairs above the shop selling wine ++.

Lovely station, bur not worth all the hype put online. Interesting in its own little town vibe way. Only visit if you're nearby. Not sure it was worth our long drive out. Neat enough though.

If you are passing through Pinhao it is well worth stopping at the station to see the ceramic panels. The 24 panels were designed in 1934 by J. Oliveira and depict all the stages of Port production. I found it interesting to note from the tiles that women picked the grapes. The wine was then transported down the Douro on boats that still travel on the river, though they carry tourists full of wine now.

Old train station from Pinhao along the Douro Valley (120 km away from Porto). It could be a really nice day trip to enjoy portuguese countryside amd visit some wine yards or just enjoy a hike around, with beautiful lansdscape. Embarquing and disembarquing are always from platform 2 (opposite the station building)

Very special spot in the beautiful Doro valley. We ride the train to the end of the line and back well spent couple of hours

Beautiful glazad tiles aka azulejos presenting the several steps from the harvest in the Douro valley. Near some great quintas to visit and have dinner.

Beautiful station. Lovely old tiles. Wine shop with cafe serves alcohol, water, coffee etc. Loos OK.

The perfect location to leave your husband. He can watch the roaring English Electrics all day, as you get tipsy down the vineyard.

Great examples of the Portuguese blue tiles at this station and less busy than the big stations such as Porto.

Beautiful Portuguese tiles displaying the cycle of winemaking around the outside of the building. Stop in the tasting room for a quick port while you are there!

Tipical old Portugal railway station with nice azulejos. If you are lucky enough, it's possible to see old trains travelling here
