This hidden gem is someplace I would totally return to. This family run inn is so special, not only for the beauty of the area but the care that every moment there is given by the owners. You are greeted with a glass of their own port and welcomed as if you were a guest in their home. Make sure you do the dinner offered there for 30 euro. It was both amazing food and amazing company from the other travelers. This experience was a highlight of our trip to the Douro Valley.

What an amazing stay we had at Casa Cimeira! We felt at home from the first minute. The rooms were good and tidy, and the hosts very kind. On the first night there was a big thunderstorm, but together with all the other guests, we had a great time nonetheless and the dinner that was cooked in between the power outages was delicious. Also breakfast and the second dinner we had were very good. Hope to come back here in the future, as it felt like home.

An amazing stay! We really loved our time here. The dinners were amazing and with unlimited wine and port, s superb value. Miguel is an excellent chef and you can tell he really cares about his guests and his business. His mom was so sweet and helpful when he wasn't around. We enjoyed the property, hanging out at the pool, the breakfasts. Our room was wonderful too. In our 2 weeks in Portugal, this was our best stay for sure. We would come back without a doubt. Only downfall, was that our second day Miguel was off and while everything was still great with dinner, the level of service (explanation of the courses and the paired wines) wasn't as amazing as the first day. (This could just be due to the fact that the staff didn't speak English, but they didn't seem to explain in Portuguese to those guests). Over our 2 nights, there were other guest that we dined with from England, Germany, Portugal and France which made the dining experience and conversations even more fun.

Wonderful location and make sure you eat their dinners. They were delicious and their wines were perfectly paired with the dishes. Extremely economical for the quality of the accommodation and meals. We would love to go back.

A charming and welcoming experience in the heart of Douro. Miguel and his family embrace guests with hospitality and warmth. We really enjoyed the wine makers family-style dinner with all the other guests - so fun to meet and talk to people from all over the world. Miguel’s wi e and port are delicious too! We stayed two nights so we also enjoyed the sun by the pool.

The property is high on a hill - be prepared for a few steep streets and sharp turns to access the Quinta - it’s totally worth it!

My wife and I stayed for 1 night and had a very memorable time. if you stay here, I would recommend being prepared to socialize with strangers from all of the world, as that is really what sets this place apart. When we checked in, we were greeted by the owner and shown to the tasting room/lounge area where he poured us some wine, gave us some information, and then showed us our room. We opted to partake in the wine-maker's dinner, which everyone should. So, after getting cleaned up a bit, we headed back to the lounge area and relaxed for a bit. They served us some more wine and we met and talked with the other guests. There were Canadians, Brazilians, Americans, etc. Eventually we were invited into the dining room for dinner where conversation continued. The boar was excellent and after dinner we were offered port wine and were allowed to stay in the lounge area as late as we wanted. Our room was small and cozy, although there were much larger rooms. Seeing that we were only staying one night, that was fine with us, but if we were staying any longer, a larger room would have been nice. Breakfast the next morning was also excellent and then we were on our way. Getting to stay at winery was certainly one of the highlights of our trip.

Oh my goodness! We were not prepared for the most amazing stay. From the moment you arrive, you feel like a long lost friend. We were greeted with a glass of very tasty wine in a comfortable stone lounge with lovely wood, leather couches and chairs! That was our “check in” experience. We next moved to the pool, overlooking the vineyards, with another glass of wine. And the wine kept flowing!
Dinner, as is breakfast, is served at one great table for 12. We thoroughly enjoyed the lively conversation of 4 other couples staying at the guesthouse. The food consisted of a 3 course meal and bread. Everything was homemade and very fresh and amazingly delicious. And more wine! After dinner we were all invited to “The Cave”, a wine tasting vault with more comfortable seating and conversation.
Staying here was one of the highlights of our 2 month trip. Probably should hav just parked the car for the remainder of our trip! A heartfelt Thank You to our host/chef/ vintner and his family.
Our visit is a forever memory

I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon this place on Google Maps! My husband and I loved staying here. Our room was extremely quiet and comfortable, but the best part of our experience was the family style dinner. Fourteen of us shared the meal - the guests hailed from the USA, Israel, Slovenia, France, and Italy. Miguel, our host, made sure we were amply supplied with food and drink. Our three course dinner was delicious and filling. The house made wines and ports were superb. Be sure to buy a few bottles before you leave.

This place is an absolute gem.
Miguel and his lovely family have been so welcoming and generous. The rooms are very spacious and have an incredible atmosphere to them, you can feel the history in the air. The highlights must be the homemade port they make and the gatherings in the living room by the incredible views. Don't miss out!

So wonderful & an experience that is rare in our modern world. Miguel & family treated us like family. Staying 2 nights in the family’s 300 yr old home, Miguel’s fabulous cooking and wonderful wines & ports. Could stay for weeks!

Our stay was absolutely perfect. I highly recommend eating dinner. The three course meal was out of this world. The ingredients tasted so fresh and everything was prepared beautifully. Dinner is served at a big table with other guests and it is a great experience to talk to people from around the world. Definitely a highlight in our Portugal trip. The host was so friendly and we felt like family the minute we checked in :) We will definitely return when we come back to Portugal!

This was absolutely the best accommodation I have ever had the privilege of staying at!

We were greeted in the bar/living area of the main building with a glass of wine and relaxed there for a bit before being shown to our room, which was charming and inviting with its stone walls.

We wandered around the property during the beautiful sunset, and then came back for dinner, which you absolutely should opt to have! It was a generous three course meal and each couple was given a full bottle of wine, and after dessert we were even given a glass of 40 year old wine from their stores!

Please do yourself a favor and stay at this wonderful family establishment!

I highly recommend dining at the hotel as they serve a wonderful meal and the company is sure to be friendly and fun. Thank you to the whole team for a great stay. I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling in the Douro region. This family also produce wine and other excellent natural products that are great quality and value.

Quinta Da Casa Cimeira

Our stay at this working vineyard and home stay honestly absolutely made our Douro Valley experience wonderful! Situated on one of the highest spots in the region, the breathtaking views from this 300 year old stay were complimented by the warm and friendly welcome we received from owner and host, Miguel.
After a port wine on arrival and introduction, he showed us to our room on the top floor. The views of the valley down to Pinhao are simply stunning, the room, spacious and comfortable.
Later Miguel provides a devious local dinner, with paired wine and attentive service. The set up involves all the guests (no more than about 10 max) eating together and sharing a lovely evening ending with more wine and port and Miguel on hand to share many insights of the region and the history of his vineyard.
After a comfortable night, it’s a hearty breakfast getting you set for your day.
I would recommend this stay for anyone considering Douro Valley. Miguel will make sure your stay is memorable and the low cost in no way reflects the high standard of the experience!

Magical is the word I would describe Miguel and family’s home. The accommodations are beautiful but cozy and well maintained. Our room felt clean, European, but still very welcoming. I also can’t get over our bathroom!

Getting to the hotel is not too bad but recommend a smaller car to get up the hill. Parking is available a few steps from the front of the casa and Miguel or his family will greet you with a glass of port.

Again, I can’t say enough about the casa. So beautiful and charming but in a very good way. I wish my house looked and felt like this place.

You can opt in to the dinner for additional cost and it’s definitely worth it! Three courses - an app (we got melon/meat one night and meats/cheeses the second), main (chicken, roasted potatoes, tomato salad and braised boar, mash potatoes, greens) and dessert (Apple strudel and crème brûlée). And an endless amount of wine and port! Would 10/10 recommend.

Pool is a definite must since the valley gets very hot. Miguel will provide towels if you don’t have them and you can ask for wine if you’re in the mood.

Breakfast is traditional Portuguese. Think bread with meats and cheese along with some fruit and yogurt. Orange juice and coffee provided.

Miguel and his family work so hard and we so appreciated their hospitality for two nights. I would highly recommend staying here even though it’s out of the main tourist spots.

A must see village and the best guest house I have ever been to. The owners are incredible. They make you feel like you are part of the family. The whole place is very nicely decorated with antiques and the food is incredible, everything is all made. I have been there twice and will go again when I have the chance.

All the reviews live up to the hype! Truly a unique experience in the heart of the Douro valley. 13 min drive to Pinhão and Quinta do Seixo is on the way to the Quinta, which wasn’t originally on my list but is a must-visit. Miguel happened to be taking time off when I visited Casa Cimeira but that didn’t change how amazing this stay was. 2 nights of calling this casa and working quinta home is likely to be the highlight of my Portugal trip. This is a family run business and home and you can really see the love they put into giving guests the best experience they can. Things to know:
- follow the Casa Cimeira signs rather than Google maps when you get to the top of the mountain (we didn’t try the Google maps way but I think it would’ve taken us down a super narrow area with 2 way traffic)
- dinner is 25 euros per person (includes bread & olive oil, appetizer, main (meat or fish), and dessert along with a bottle of wine. This is an optional add-on but I got it both nights I was here and did not regret it
- November is rainy season, so there are not too many visitors, which is nice for having a more quiet stay
- the road leaving the Quinta is super narrow so be ready for that if you’re driving

Amazing stay. The property itself is beautiful and the room was so comfortable and clean. Shower had great water pressure!! Went for a short run around the area and the views literally a few steps away are breathtaking. The food was delicious - like others have said, a private dinner party with plenty wine flowing and the chance to meet some interesting people across the world. Breakfast was also great and plentiful. Miguel was a superstar - always running around, always doing something but always willing to stop and help and provide winery suggestions if needed :) give the cats near this property a cuddle for me, too, they were absolute sweethearts!
