Restaurante Artefact

We were recommended this lovely little restaurant. Evening tables were fully booked for the foreseeable, so we had lunch instead. The food was great. Confit duck and confit lamb shank with our choice of sides (the potato, celery and sweet potato puree was fantastic!) Followed by lemon tart/ice cream/raspberries, and almond tart, flamed with cointreau, and lemon sorbet. With a bottle of red and a coffee each, it was reasonably priced too. We have already booked for next week.

What a treat! We had lunch because dinners were booked out. The food was great and the wine, based on their recommendation, was fantastic. We would highly recommend - and if you are considering this spot - book ahead:)

The duck confit was the best I have ever had. I paired it with the French fries and cauliflower au gratin. I can say this was the best dinner and service I have had in the Algarve. It was a charming experience from the moment we arrived. Exceptional food and value. The lemon tart was fab as well.

I can see why reservations are sought after. Everything was fantastic. Perfect service, delicious wine, perfect entrees & wonderful ambiance. We had the filet & it was cooked to perfection. The sides was mouth watering as well. Definitely 1 of the best meals I've had in Tavira & all of Portugal. Will definitely be back.

A really lovely place! We have been greeted in a very friendly way and been shown to our table. The small but good menu was handed out and a few specials presented. The fish of the day, seabream, in two different sauces was delicious (picture), and so was the meat. The side order of a millefeuille of vegetables was clever and tasty! The food was delivered in good time, and the people were very attentive. But make sure you book well in advance!

Chicken thigh stuffed with beef, pork, walnuts and wrapped in bacon (delicious😋), sea bream, anchovies and seafood pate on the photos, all accompanied with delicious sides.

Excellent restaurant, one of the best in our long tour. Lucky to get a reservation in this very popular restaurant. Attention to detail is impressive. Staff very good at explaining each dish and what is and isn’t included. Wine by the glass was excellent and the food exceptional. We sat outside; on a quiet side street so no unwanted distractions.

This restaurant has it all! One of the best, if not the best, restaurant in Tavira. The most wonderful food, excellent service. You need to make a reservation. A very popular place. Prices are on the higher end, but well worth it.

Wowwwwww!! Go hungry! Best to make a reservation. The food here was absolutely amazing. No complaints at all. The waiters were so lovely. Everything was perfect. A new favourite in Tavira. Highly, highly recommend! Make sure you leave room for dessert!

Another Superb meal at Artefact.
The whole experience was amazing, I'm writing this only an hour or so after finishing the meal.
The welcome is friendly and sincere. We shared a home made chicken liver paté with a port gelatine topping, fabulous
For my main course I had fillet steak with herby peas with lardons and tomatoes which was fantastic 😋, with a lovely glass of Foral Don Diniz Alentejo red wine.
My wife had seafood (red snapper, prawn and monkfish) cataplana with ratatouille 😋 with a tasty vinho verde alvarinho.
We were too full to have a dessert.
The service was first class, friendly and helpful.
I would thoroughly recommend Artefact to anyone.
It was also great value for money considering the quality of the food.

We spent 3 hours here eating because it was that good. It was one of those dinners you walk away from and just say WOW. Every plate was well thought out, and the staff was so friendly joking around with us the whole night. Highly recommend this lovely place.

5 stars for this gem! The French cuisine was out of this world.
Besides a small issue with being lost in translation regarding the reservation time ( we got there on time but the French chef told us we were late, which we definitely weren’t) the experience at Artifact was such a glorious touch to our vacation. Portuguese food is not robust in flavour so it’s been hard to find unique flavours, but Artifact changed that for us…we could go every night if our budget allowed. We enjoyed the Lamb Shank, Lamb Stew, and Duck Confit. For dessert the heavenly Tarte Tartin was one of a kind!!! Our Portuguese male server was Devine, such a sweet fellow. Hats off to the chef.

This restaurant was recommended and I can see why. The food was delicious and excellent quality, I had the sea bass & my husband had the fillet steak. Finished off by two beautiful desserts, what a treat. The service was excellent and the food reasonably priced. I can see why they're fully booked up until the end of September, book well in advance so you don't miss out 😊

Great hosts, service and even greater food! Loved everything about this gem hidden in the streets of Tariva. Would highly recommend to anyone.
