Great food (octopus, bream and pork).. Our second time here in two weeks (had the squid previously).

I have the fondest memories of this restaurant and their founding family!

Having spent most of my childhood holidays in Tavira, “O Virgílio” was our nominated dinner place.
The quality of the food was always superb, providing fresh organic produce (amazing tomato salad with oregano) and delicious, perfectly charcoal-grilled meat and fish (special nod to the sea bass, sea bream and my beloved pork belly slices with hand cut fries).

Over the years I have reminisced on those late night summer meals, and could still taste and remember all those flavours from those long gone summer holidays.

I have finally returned today, after many years (19!), and was delighted to see the founding family, which is still running the restaurant, with the help of the their third generation, their grandson who is now the main chef.

The quality and the menu remains the same, preserving the long lasting tradition of 30 years of experience, in the hands of the founding family, with the same welcome and generous approach to the guests.

If you ever stop by Santa Luzia, you must visit “O Virgilio”, trust me!

Ate here after a group outing. Very pleasant and great food ( we all ate fish).
Virgílio himself speaks great English and is very helpful.

My favourite restaurant in the Tavira area. Understated but have delicious authentic Portuguese food. Cozy and personal atmosphere.

Virgilios is fantastic. Friendly service and the best Portuguese food. Fabulous fish and grills and wonderful home made desserts. Prices are very reasonable too.

Fabulous family run Café /Restaurant. Very popular. Booking recommended at weekends and essential during the summer. Mum's home made stew on Sunday. Generous portions.

Shhhh keep it secret , this spot is the one in Tavira region. Amazing food and cool staff.

Keep in mind if you want to get a seat, should be there around noon.

Bring money in your pocket they dont accept credit cards.

Very reasonably priced, honnest food, in pleasant surroundings and friendly welcome. We enjoyed eating here last year and hope to come back again!
