Restaurante Associação Agrícola de São Miguel

They say you should make a reservation but we dropped in around lunch on a Friday and had no issue or wait to get a table nor did any of the people who arrived after us and there appeared to be a steady flow. Take that for what it's worth. Very friendly staff at the door and very friendly servers who happily explained menu items and answered our questions. We started with a lovely shrimp dish, garlic shrimp. For mains my missus had a pork loin with pineapple and I had a sirloin with a passion fruit cream sauce. Both came with fries. The meat was very tasty and cooked as requested. The fries were different from what we would get in Canada but were very tasty. We both had very tasty beers. We were both happily stuffed by the time we left. Very much recommended.

The steak was great. I had the Associacao sirloin steak and it was very tasty. My GF had shrimps and perfect as well.

The wine was great, the steaks were amazing and the desserts were the best i've had in Portugal.

I will remember this restaurant for a long time. We made the reservation for first hour available 12.30. We went for THE bife, couldnt have made a better choice. The meat, the sauce, the egg.. it was a great combination of flavours that makes it perfect!
No doubt, come here, ask for bife de lombo!

Be sure to stop eating two days before.

Amazing food. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommend this place if you are hungry. There was a bit of a wait but well worth it.

I have chosen their “Associação” tenderloin steak with 200grs. The steak melts in your mouth, and it's so delicious!
To drink a fresh sangria and for dessert the three chocolate tart with ice cream.

Incredible dinner. We went early, 4:30 and we did not need a reservation. The food was so yummy. I drank a Kima, passion fruit soda. I enjoyed it. I had the tenderloin steak in passion fruit cream sauce. It was very good. The fries were hot. Feel free to ask for ketchup, mustard pepper and salt.
My husband ordered the Tornado a Continental. Wow! That was amazing. Two bacon wrapped filets, fries, vegetables and a fun trip of sauces. They will only cook these rare to medium, but man was it delicious.
We finished with the chocolate cake. It came with whipped cream, passion fruit ice cream, wafer cookies and chocolate sauce. Everything was really delicious and we highly recommend dinner here. We skipped bread and appetizers, per other reviews. The portions are very generous. Go hungry!!

A great place, great service, great wine list, amazing food, and I even liked their new craft beer, a lot. And that's saying something. Oh, and the people are wonderful! The only sad thing might be trying to get a table during busy times, but it is worth the wait.

Nice restaurant, for the starter we had fresh cheese with typical Azorean red sauce and than excellent steak of the house and steak with cheese sauce. Anyway, the french fries that comes with the steak could be better. It is not a cheap restaurant, but the food is great and 300g portion of meat is not small. It is really worth it to try Azorean steak when you are on holiday. Reservation needed at least 2 days in advance.

Best steak I’ve ever had. Got the passion fruit sauce and it was incredible. Service was five star! The wine was perfect, the bread, butter and cheese were excellent. Definitely worth a stopover!

This place was incredibly! The beef was so tener and flavorful. The waiter was super attentive and recommended a wine to go with my steak. My in laws had the cod fish they liked it as well. This is a must try while in São Miguel.

We arrived there without reservation, but the friendly staff found a table for us. We ordered tenderloin stakes. Probably the best stakes that we had in Azores. Dessert was also delicious.

Certainly, it was worth waiting for the opportunity to enter and taste the local specialties. The taste sensations were amazing.

The food is great (and the 200gr steak is huge) although it's definitely not something out of this world as I was told. If you're around (and have a reservation, which is essential) do try the typical steak. The service is great and incredibly fast. Try a queijada for dessert.

Solid place. The perfect trifecta between food, atmosphere and price/quality. Reservation is advised. Cozy place, quick service and moody ambiance. Meats are the speciality, solid cuts, decent tenderness. Wine or the homebrew beer is excellent with this sort of dishes. For desert? All of them are pleasant to look and desirable to eat, given the nature of Azores, the "Queijinho Doce D`Associação" is one for the brave and those searching for something different.
Recommend.

More food than you'll be able to eat. They know the difference between rare and medium rare. Huge portion of tuna enough for three people very nice, very attentive, we went in the afternoon so no reservation necessary

Excellent steaks with fabulous top-notch service in a modern dining room set in the heart of agricultural district. Very easy to get here from many parts of the island. Fine selection of Azorean wines, including from Pico.
