Praia do Tonel

An amazing beach with beautiful colors. One of my favorite places in the world. Walked to this beach everyday to watch surfers or just the waves. Even on days were the weather was bad.

So the view is completely, we will continue, the view is completely breathtaking, the sunset is really magnificent. We can be down and the view from above, at the level of the rocks, is completely exceptional. I spent a few hours there and it really allows me to meditate and feel rejuvenated. In terms of surfing, it's maybe a little more difficult, the conditions are not very easy, so I would say intermediate to advanced. When we went there, there was a thunderstorm that happened, so there were rocks all over the place, so it's really a more advanced area. We didn't risk going surfing there, but it's really a must-see and the view is really exceptional, so it's really worth it.

We spent a wonderful afternoon at this bar with a beautiful view and had a really decent ham and cheese sandwich (toastet). The cocktails were tasty and strong and the beers were cold and fair on price. Nice place to spent a few hours after some beach time.

Parking can be a little tight, but it's very close to the beach with a short walk. There were a number of surfers and the area is beautiful. I went in mid-February which is an off season, so most of the restaurants were closed although Google showed it was open.

Amazing place. Excellent spot for surfers. Usually not crowded. The cliffs are impressing, both for the colors and the height. There's a bar/restaurant near the access point

Beautiful and serene. I wish I had more time to spend here. Bonus that it was almost completely empty on a Sunday mid-morning! Exquisite nature 💕

This beach 🏖 is beautiful. It’s between the cliffs located. The beach has yellow sand.
It’s a nice place for people who love windsurfing, kitesurfing or for riding the waves. You can see the fort from this beach. By the entrance of the Beach there is a little Surfers Bar. You can park your car nearby.

We are unlucky that the water is so icy, but that's how it is on these western beaches. Otherwise the beach is beautiful.

Situated on the western side of the Peninsula at Sagres, Praia do Tonel had more opportunities to Surf, Kitesurf and windsurf as well as swim. It was a bit windier here but that was a blessing in the heat and a challenge for beach umbrellas. There are some sheltered areas close to the rocks to the right as you face the beach and a further walk over these rockfalls leads to another, quieter stretch of sand. There is free parking leading down towards the beach and a lone cafe serving food and beverages including cocktails and beers with a great view. The only toilet I observed at the beach was also here. The cliff formations are dramatic and a photographers dream but probably improves as the day and lighting progress.

Absolutely gorgeous place !!! 100% worth the hours if you land in Faro. Amazing view and breath taking landscape. Great place for surfers. There is really nice coffee-bar down the beach.

Very beautiful beach worth to visit.
As we visited in October it was almost empty and not crowded.
Great place to swim, also with kids.
Big parking lot between beach and the fortress is for free and only a 5min walk.

Surrounded by high cliffs with the water temperature not exceeding 15 degrees, ideal for surfers but there are dangerously strong tides and currents especially around the rocks. You can admire the power of the ocean if you are at the top of the cliffs.

One of my favorite beaches in the Algarve, great for beginners surfing and in a very picturesque little bay. Usually not too busy (at least in the winter). There is surfboard and wetsuit hire available.
Make sure you base yourself back from the sea as the tide comes in quite far. Beautiful place to catch a sunset, set up a tent and gaze into the stars.

Wonderful sandy beach surrounded by mysteriously coloured cliffs.
This place is always full of beautiful surfers, riding on the huge waves, even on the days when there is no wind at all..
It's a really romantic place on the sunsets, when Sun jumps straight in to the middle of the ocean, and at the night time you can see the ocean of clearly visible stars and planets..
Definitely must visit place when you at this remote part of the world !!
