Retiro do Pescador

After a visit to the fort we were not sure where to stop for lunch but when we returned to the car there was a flyer for this restaurant on our windscreen. So we thought ‘why not?!’ and headed into Sagres to this unlikely located restaurant. We’re so glad we did! Delicious fresh fish, (we had the sea bass and the swordfish) attentive staff, lovely ambiance and even a large free car park right next to the restaurant. Definitely recommend this delightful place if you want a filling, tasty lunch.

When we arrived, we had to wait 20min for a table due to not having reserved. The people working there were very friendly and even made some jokes to make us laugh. The food didn't take too long to get served, first Tuna Steak I tried and it was very delicious, for desert had a very well served lime pie. They speak a lot of languages and the menu is available in different languages too.

Retire do Pescador is one of the most beautiful restaurants in the Algarve. We ate the famous Cataplana and it was .... Incredible!
I love this place, I will go back there if the occasion arises!

Absolutely stunning food and staff! The fish is freshly caught and soooo delicious! The portions are generous and I could not have asked for a better lunch. I am Portuguese and I can say that they serve really good traditional Portuguese dishes. You won’t be disappointed! Must visit 😍

Extremely fresh seafood. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere of the restaurant was very comfortable and relaxed. Thoroughly enjoyed my pargo head, which has lots of easily accessible white fish without bones. Highly recommend this family run establishment.

I've been here last year and again this year because it's totally worth it. Very good food, very friendly staff. 10/10.

Great food, every fish meal we had was delicious and looked good too. Waiter was quick, has good English knowledge and they are very thoughtful. They have good chicco child seats. Through there was no special kids meal, our kids loved the fish soup and sardines. Highly suggested!

Great fresh fish - owner recommended the grilled stonebass and it was excellent. See photo. Also tried the sea bass that was also great but stonebass was better. Very friendly people - spoke great English. Nice desert (kind of a homemade flan). Recommend this place. (We went because we had a flier in our windshield while visiting the fort and were a bit dubious at first). Nice refrigerated case out front where you can see the fish before ordering.

Splendid food and very friendly service. Had some mussles and a pregado which was filleted directly at the table. Would give 10 stars if possible..

Amazing seafood rice and seabrass, as well as Algarve pie and lemon meringue pie, also had cheese and olives as appetizers and fish soup. You tasted the sea and it was delicious!

Fresh seafood from the local fisherman. Delicious fish, squid and prawns. The local dishes were amazing, the golden bream was sooo tasty. Delicious food. Great service.

Delicious fish (potentially the best we had during our week in PT), most of it caught fresh! We had the Portuguese tiny shrimp as well. Service was super friendly & very quick.

This is one of the best restaurants I've tried round Vila do bispo and sagres. The staff is also so nice, they will recommend you the best they have. The dishes are amazing but the desserts are over the moon. I will come back if I have the opportunity for sure!

I found this restaurant accidentaly and was very impressed by the freshness of the food and how delicious the fish was. We ordered sea bass for 2 and it was really tasty! It was a windy warm summers day and we sat inside. There was a lot of other people but restaurants stuff made great job. We had white wine NOS which was perfect with the fish. Definately my best Sagres meal ever.

Amazing lunch after touring the Forteleza. Mussels - perfect! Chef’s shrimp - tangy! Grilled fish - delightfully delicious. And the tomato salad is everything!

The servers were also amazing. Thank you for a wonderful lunch!

Some of the best food I’ve had in the Algarve. The place was packed with locals, even on a Wednesday. Had to wait 30 minutes, but the seafood rice was worth it after a long day of surfing with a cold Super Bock literally heaven. Very friendly service as well

Great restaurant in a rather quiet part of town. Very delicious food and an attentive and friendly staff at all times. We dined here several evenings during our vacation and each time was a wonderful pleasure. Thank you.
