What to say... the place is absolutely gorgeous. The hotel is in the middle of a giant park containing all kind of species of trees and plants.
The park is open to the public during the day, but in the evening only hotel guest can enjoy it, as well as the incredible outdoor natural hot springs ! Seriously, you have to try it once in your life, this was absolutely wonderful.
The hotel itself is well maintained and luxurious. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Finally, the breakfast was delicious and offered a very wide choice of items.

We LOVE this hotel and always stay between the US and trips to Europe. The staff (everyone from the door man to the reception, the waitress staff and housekeeping) is exceptionally friendly and goes out of their way to make sure your stay is amazing. The breakfast is the best in Portugal (and we have stayed in many Savoy hotels). The juice is fresh squeezed, the fruit is fresh with good presentation, there are many savory hot dishes and the pastries are plentiful. There is something for everyone. The rooms are clean and comfortable and we have stayed in both the older section of the hotel and the newer section and we like both. The mineral pool is amazing and having the wonderful robes helps when you get out. We liked the robes so much we ordered some. The indoor facility with the pool, Turkish bath, sauna and massage is clean and well kept. The botanical gardens are out of this world and will take you awhile to walk through. Don’t miss these because they are exceptional. We love coming to Furnas and we have stayed in other hotels here but now we will only stay at this hotel. Don’t miss it, you will not be disappointed.

If you’re going to Furnas, it really doesn’t make sense to stay anywhere other than here. The garden and the thermal bath are *the* things to do in town, and if you stay at the hotel you have 24/7 access to both. Otherwise access is limited and you need a ticket. The rooms are pretty standard hotel rooms, but the location really can’t be beat. The garden is so beautiful, one of the best botanical gardens I’ve visited, and the thermal baths are such a neat experience, and it’s nice to just walk back to your hotel room shower instead of having to use the communal ones. The restaurant was also great!

Wonderful hotel and thermal pools. The restaurant and bar were delightful surprises. The service at this hotel and adjoining restaurants is top tier. We enjoyed the thermal baths a few times, it was rainy that day and we entered later in the afternoon and found it almost empty. The thermal baths are a really great amenity when staying here at the most perfect temperature. We loved that the hotel provided thermal pool towels and robes as well to use during our stay. We had dinner at the bar the first night and were really surprised at how good everything was. Cocktails are made with ingredients from their garden- it was the best tasting mint I’ve ever had! And the food was really good too, we tried the bao and the chicken Caesar salad, both were great. The breakfast is really good quality and again, service is impeccable. It was the best breakfast we’ve had on our three week trip. And we returned to the main restaurant for dinner and it was one of our top dinners. The service is truly outstanding, and the food was amazing. Best fois gras we’ve ever tried. We also had the cozido which was really flavorful, and the pork dish which is going in my top pork dishes of all time. Truly a wonderful stay and experience! Highly recommend this hotel for the amenities, service and value!

Loved every minute of our stay...we will be back! The rooms are nice, the service is outstanding and accessing the park after hours is delightful. The free breakfast offered many options and dinner at the restaurant was top notch. The spa services were also top notch.

I am specifically reviewing the restaurant at this hotel. The 4 of us dropped in for lunch to try the traditional Azorean “Cozido”. The service, quality of food and experience was
5stars! We were so glad we tried this meal and it’ll be a fond food memory!

Last time we visited the island we didn't get the chance to explore the garden or take dip in the thermal pool as it was closed to the public in the evening. So, for the final leg of our honeymoon we decided to stay at Terra Nostra Garden Hotel and we are so glad that we did.

Our bags didn't make the flight, but we had zero worries because reception gave us directions on where we could buy swim suits and other items within walking distance of the hotel. When we came back a staff member let us know that our room was ready early. And later that evening we entered our room to not only find our bags, but candles, flower petals, and champagne waiting for us.

Our room was clean and the bed comfortable. We enjoyed many delicious drinks at the bar and the breakfast selection was top notch. Loved being able to enjoy the thermal pool early in the morning and late at night without the crowds.

The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the place including front desk, bar, dinner service and breakfast. We loved being able to explore the gardens and the thermal pool at all hours of the day. The grounds are clean and you can tell staff are on top of keeping it that way.

There is lots of construction going on (Nov 2023) so some spots are off limits right now and the construction can be loud during the day. However, I always think it is a positive thing to see a place doing construction as it seems they are on top of improving and making things even better. I am sure once the construction is done it will be that much better. We are looking forward to staying again in the future.

A rare gem of a hotel. Built in 1934 with private gardens and thermal pool, it is exceptional. Updated, with a beautiful Art Deco style. Guests can enjoy the extensive gardens and hot pool 24 hours. The grounds are open to the general public for 10 euros from 10 to 5:00. The food and service are outstanding.

We stayed for 4 nights. Everything was great from start to end. Unlimited access to Terra Nostra Park, and thermal pool is included. Indoor pool and Turkish bath very nice. Breakfast is an extensive spread enough to last until dinner. Staff seemed genuinely happy to help you. Visit the thermal pool at night!

I rarely comment on hotels, but what a wonderful hotel!! The staff is very welcoming and makes you feel at home immediately. The hotel is designed very generously with sitting areas, free pool billiards, library. The grand plus is also the exclusive access to the park and pool to hotel guests from 430pm. You can enjoy the park in full tranquility.
But once again, it's the staff which makes this hotel shine. Discrete, yet present, warmhearted and involved. It makes you feel being in rather a 5-star than 4-star hotel.
Not cheap, but worth every penny!

Definitely coming back to stay here again when their garden renovations are complete and open again! Beautiful hotel and gardens, great restaurant, even the free hotel breakfast was amazing!!!
You can tell whoever owns this place puts a tremendous amount of love and care into this place, the grounds, and every detail of the hotel experience! Absolutely the best hotel on the island!!

A wonderful experience. Sadly we only had lunch there followed by a complimentary stroll through the vast and stunning gardens (where we nearly got lost).

We wished we had chosen the hotel to stay at during our week on the island. The staff very courteous and well dressed, the food standard and restaurant standard was superb.

The whole place exudes elegance and cleanliness. The gardens and the natural pool are breathtaking - we wish we could have stayed longer. We did not see the rooms, but I have little doubt they are equally superbly maintained.

What an incredibly unique experience. Not only did they have a beautiful garden, but the outdoor thermal pool was magical. To top it off, the hospitality was superb, something of 5 star quality. They upgraded our rooms to the biggest suite!

Furthermore, Robin, the caretaker of the outdoor pool, was incredibly kind - you could tell he loved the grounds and kept the area well maintained.

Food was fantastic. We enjoyed their extensive breakfast, and their dinner. Great service and quality dishes. Worth the price.

As for the gym, sauna and indoor pool, they were average, but definitely not the highlight of this hotel. Even still, the garden and the thermal pool makes this hotel shine.

We would absolutely revisit this hotel the next time we come to Sao Miguel.

This was easily the best hotel I've ever stayed at. It is very pricey compared to other options on the island, but trust me, it's worth it. The main drawing points are 24/7 access to the hot springs and garden, I can't think of a single other hotel in the world that offers such unique and amazing amenities!

We started our mornings with a walk through the garden, which I cannot rave about enough, it's incredibly beautiful and peaceful. After long days of siteseeing, we would come back and take a dip in the hot springs where we often had the entire pool to ourselves. The restaurant is also easily the best food we had on the entire island.

Again, it's very pricey, but 100% worth the price for this amazing stay! It's something you will talk about for the rest of your life.

Just finished a short stay at Terra Nostra and can’t speak more highly of the hotel and it’s staff. So many lovely little touches and attentive care made our stay so special. The design of the hotel is a visual delight and access to the park is simply wonderful (including private access when the public can no longer enter). Lovely atmosphere and very welcoming to our toddler - our room even had a child toiletry set! A wonderful dining experience and fantastic breakfast to boot. We very very much hope to be back.

We booked the Terra Nostra Garden Hotel on the recommendation of our son's wedding planner. None of us had been there before so we were uncertain about what to expect. The experience was incredible - staff, restaurants, rooms, venue. Pro tip - avoid the Terra Nostra Gardens themselves during the day as they are full of tourists. After the park closes to the public, it remains open to hotel guests. Go then!!!

This place is amazing. Everything about it was amazing. The only complaint my wife and I could come up with after really thinking about it was that there’s not enough hooks to hang wet stuff in your room, which is minor. After our hellish week at Octant Furnas down the road this was such a breath of fresh air and made our honeymoon what it was supposed to be, very special. I thank Terra Nostra and their staff for everything. The food the hot pool the service the gardens were all amazing. Thank you thank you thank you.

Spent three nights here for my 30th birthday - one of the Best hotels I’ve ever been to. The gardens are so gorgeous, and you can stroll around them at any time as a guest + the HOT SPRING is amazing - was out there at midnight when I turned 30 and had the entire giant hot spring to myself. The restaurant was amazing, everything was delicious and the staff are there at a moment’s notice with more water or to top off your wine glass. The spa was also wonderful and I received hands down the best massage I’ve ever had. No trip to the Azores is complete without a stay at the Terra Nostra Garden hotel. Cannot wait to come again!

I didn't actually stay here, but after getting stranded in Furnas, my husband and I went into this hotel to ask if they could help us. Not only did the reception staff manage to sort us out a taxi, but they were incredibly kind and friendly in the process. We waited in the bar, which is a beautiful space with a large selection of drinks. Furnas itself is beautiful and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Sao Miguel.
