Restaurante Ideal

The restaurant's name is a great omen for what happens every day at O Ideal - literal the Ideal, meaning literally the best possible. If they ask you whether you'd like to try the fish soup, just say yes. It's rich and ample, served inside a homemade bread. You should also try the tuna belly - it was so flavorful and it felt like butter melting in the mouth. The fried octapus is delicious, also very very soft. And of course, the staff is amazing. People are kind, funny and very helpful - they will challenge you to go for something new and you should take the risk!

Love Ideal service is great really happy cheerful people. Food fantastic gets very busy recommend booking.

24 October 23. Arrived early without a reservation, by 1915, no tables. You need a reservation! I made one for later this week, everything was good, porco preto, red wine, and the dessert to die for. My server, Andrea, was the best, extremely attentive.

The venue is lovely, the food exquisite and the service was absolutely brilliant. Great personalities and nice atmosphere.

Old school but fantastic. Wish we’d found this place earlier. Delicious prawns and fish soup to start and then squid and octopus… and the house wine was fab, a perfect pairing with the fishy biznis! Service was calm and courteous and I loved watching the staff cook through the large open hatch… proper old pros. Definitely recommend

Wonderful! as usual. Took a friend to Ideal for first time night and of course it didn't disappoint. We had the bread and olives and cheese to get us going. A fillet steak in pepper sauce, a fillet steak in mushroom sauce and my wife had the Octopus salad all fantastic and cooked perfectly. A lovely bottle of Portuguese red and three desserts....perfect. I can't recommend this restaurant enough and I'd recommend making a reservation as it is always very busy. Thank you Christina, Ze and all the staff you are brilliant! See you again very soon 🌞😎👍🏻

f it's okay to add (24/5/23) fantastic dinner tonight too including squid, Portuguese pork, seafood soup and Sole usual terrific service by Ideal staff they really are the best. we have made a reservation for August yes, August! The reservations for the summer season are being taken already 🌞😎👍🏻😁

If you are looking for a Portuguese traditional food restaurant, look no further! The food is amazing and generous portions, must try the fish soup inside the loaf of bread, simply breath taking (careful it's really hot!)

The fish was perfectly grilled, not oily and disguised with sauces. Nothing like delicious, fresh fish from our seas. Highly impressed, Typical Portuguese Traditional food. Will definetly return

Tradicional food at its best!

Well what can I say, rather embarrassingly we've been in Cabanas for some time prior to trying this restaurant. After our first visit all I can say is exceptional! My wife and I hadn't booked and it was peak season but hey, they managed to squeeze us in, served beautiful food, very timely considering how busy they were, undoubtedly the best food we've had here, fabulous wine list, and the service was brilliant. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone, probably best to book in advance though as it was really busy and we were incredibly fortunate to get a place. Many Portuguese eating here, whether local or knowledgeable holidaymakers, this is a hidden gem of a place.

This is by far the best restaurant in cabanas the food is outstanding fresh tasty and typical Portuguese, the service again friendly and nothing too much trouble, the clams are the best , and the fish Filets just amazing!! went on holiday to cabanas again after lockdown and took my daughter and granddaughter who is 8 they both loved the service and food as much as us, my granddaughter cleaned her plate every time!! You do need to book as it gets busy obviously!! Decided to go to Noelias on last night as we had been a few years ago and liked it, well I wish we hadn’t bothered, everything from service to food was terrible!!! what a contrast to Ideal !! We won’t be making that mistake again!!! It’s definitely Ideal for us you won’t be disappointed 😊
