Restaurante - Bar Caldeiras

We were happy to find this gem after visiting the Caldeira Velha baths. Food was incredible and staff were super friendly. We had the pork cozido, roasted octopus, rice pudding and bean cake. While everything was delicious, the cozido style is unique to the area so make sure to try it! And the rice pudding-- it's grandma's recipe :)

Hidden GEM on your way to spa Caldeira Velha or to Lake Fogo. We stopped for lunch and had plenty of traditional food - finally managed to get COZIDHO. Also the OCTOPUS was stunning. We also had wines from Azores (from Pico) and desserts haha. Everything was perfect, atmosphere was friendly, staff had facemasks but I knew they are smiling at us. The owner wished us Happy Easter and gave us home made cookies - we took it with us to trip next day. Thanks a lot!!!!! I really loved this restaurant. It is a bit hidden but if you want delicious food for reasonable prices it is your place to go ❤ Martina.

Wonderful beef stew, very delicious together with a lovely bread. Totally recommend it!
Also the cozido, very generous portion of mixed meat and vegetables. I enjoyed most the very tasty pork, pig leg, blood sausages. The chicken, beef in the stew is passable.

The sangria was also lovely, as well as the interior design, hence the 5 stars.

This was our best meal in Sao Miguel. There was respect for the products and love for the azorean cuisine in every dish we tried. Nothing ultra fancy; just honest, ealthy food made with a plus of love. A very fair price. To come back soon.

Generous portions, good quality at fair prices. Unlike other restaurants, here you can eat cozido without booking it in advance.

Really nice place. They have Buffet for 13eu drinks not included. The "cocido" typical from the island is really good here and you can see some caldeiras as well.

The service, portion size and taste - all perfect. I am amazed what you get for such price at this place, especially when other places in the island charge twice for same dishes. We had garlic prawns, garlic bread and a burger here - all were very tasty.

I really enjoyed the very savory beef stew (Alcatra) cooked in the caldeiras. I'll be back for this dish.

We just had a fantastic dinner here. The owner and his crew are super welcoming and let us try a homemade dish. Good choice! Then we ordered cozido which was an adventure: very generous and authentic meal. We simply could not finish it but we were very happy to have tried it here. The fish pie bacalhau was also incredible. Definitely recommend going there! You won't regret it.

This is a very good place to eat while traveling throughout São Miguel island. It has a very good infrastructure divided in two floors capable to fit a lot of guests with comfort.

The food is very delicious and their menu is very ample, so pretty much all kinds of people and tastes can be satisfied.

Besides that, you can also enjoy the water springs that rises near the restaurant.

By far one of the best restaurants of this beautiful island. Located near one of the most iconic views and hiking trails, this restaurant likewise stands out among all others for their incredible food, with traditional flavors and diverse menu. Surprisingly, these elements pale in comparison with the eve lovelier environment and extremely heartwarming staff. A definite must for anyone visiting or living here, and I could not recommend enough this fantastic restaurant.

We did eat cozido here for the first time. It was so good we wanted to eat it twice! So one week later we tried it in another restaurant.

Not a good idea! This restaurant was so much better! Nice service, great wine, delicious cozido. We arrived early, so they took us with them to take out the cozido.
