Xitaka

It’s a large restaurant with outdoor seating, which would be great in the summer. The restaurant was a quarter filled. The service was good and we were advised to order less and the pork with chips would be too much and we were very grateful as I don’t like to waste food. The pork was cooked perfectly and was moist and tasty. The fries were hand cut and tasted of quality potatoes. We managed to squeeze in some dessert which was a sugar tart. The owners gave us free liqueur too.

Xitaka is truly a remarkable dining experience. The outstanding service provided by Rui, who personally attended to our table, added a special touch to the evening. We indulged in a delightful array of seafood, fish, and a scrumptious burger, not to mention the exquisite desserts. Every dish was a culinary delight, and I wholeheartedly recommend this place. The personalized approach of Rui and the exceptional quality of the food make Xitaka a must-visit for any food enthusiast.

Not enough time on the island to eat here again. We went on Sunday lunch, really busy, but we got in without a reservation. Near airport. Yummy octopus!

Not only is the food fabulous but the service was even better. Our waiter was so helpful, funny and nice! I had the grilled octopus, which melts in your mouth, so delicious. My husband had one of the fishes of the day, it came with a full meal (salad, veggies, potatoes), also delicious. The white sangria was great and strong. The caramel mousse pudding for dessert was like nothing we’ve ever tasted. Definitely recommend.

Everything is delicious. Recommend the grilled octopus and the seafood cataplana which is for two people but certainly more for like three. Prices are as expected for a good quality meal. Been there a few times. Return customer since last trip.

This has been one of our favourite restaurants so far on São Miguel. The food is amazing. The waiters, Nuno and Rui, are the best waiters I’ve ever been served by. Highly recommend.

Seafood lovers rejoice! Damn fine delicious seafood! I recommend the 2 person seafood platter, razor clams, limpets, brown crab dip/pate, fish soup and octopus salad... You will not be disappointed! Excellent service as well! We came here twice in 2 weeks because we loved it so much! Very reasonably priced as well!

We ate at this restaurant twice during our trip to the Açores and each meal was amazing!! Waiters are very friendly and attentive and they layout of the restaurant is beautiful! Looking forward to coming back here again!

Great selection of fresh fish and shellfish available everyday. A friend recommended this place and I wasn't disappointed. The limpets are massive, I never seen that big on a restaurant. The octopus salad was just perfect, fresh and tasty. As it was our first time here we ended up ordering too much, the portions are huge at good price. The service was at the same standard of the food, amazing. It has a large sitting area outside, which is rare on most restaurants.
Will comeback for sure and I would recommend this place for everyone.

Great restaurant. Not only the food was delicious and reasonably priced, but the service was outstanding to say the least. waitress Marisa was so nice, helpful, and hilarious, which made a whole dining experience so fun and unforgettable. We ended up going back for the experience again next day!

The food and service at Xitaka were exceptional. We started out with the octopus salad which was amazing. We also got some black olives that were very good. We liked them in the olive oil and garlic. The bread was very good and worked well with our seafood rice for two. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. She even made sure to let us know that the seafood rice for 2 is very large so we could order accordingly. The amount of seafood with the rice is very generous! I am not sure where the tradition of getting a steak sandwich (prego) for dessert started but it is one we have adopted since coming to Portugal and their steak sandwich is great! We had seen many reviews for their amazing seafood platter for 2 and their passion fruit dessert so we will try to get back before we leave the island and try those out as well. Definitely recommend!!!

Xitaka was a pleasant surprise! The food was so tasty. It’s a bit bright during afternoon, lights could be a bit more dim for a nice restaurant like this one. Service was effective and good. It’s a bit more expensive compared to other local food, the non tourist places. Worth a visit for sure and I live here on the island.

This is the best sea food restaurant we have on the island. The food is delicious and the service is fantastic !! Can’t say enough about the food. Will definitely come back.

One of the best on the Island! Fantastic service and extensive selection of seafood, shellfish and meat. The octopus salad is the best I've tasted on Sao Miguel and the codfish with prawns is to die for. We were here earlier in the week and had the limpets which were huge and super tasty along with the monkfish rice. The portions are very generous so we did not sample dessert but if the entrees and mains are anything to go by, you shouldn't be disappointed. Xitaka is a modern style restaurant with live lobsters to pick from inside. This place is a must to dine at ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐😁

3 waiters for more then 50 people. They need more personal. They were running with the dishes but all of them were very polite. For the manager: hire more people. Pay them well. The food was delicious.I highly recommend

Great service and delicious food. I had the squid kebab, it had great flavour and cooked perfectly. The waitress even showed us all their fresh fish , and desserts made in house. Took a little longer for food to come out but it was worth the wait.

After a visit to the lava caves I stopped here, went to look at the menu....mostly fish so I said to the waiter thanks and went to walked out. He came after me and asked what I would like, I told him it's mostly sea food and I dont really like sea food. He looked through the menu with me and suggested steak with chips, I said I wanted a small dish and he said it was.
Well when it came, it was steak and chips with fried egg on top and rice, it also had some garlic under the egg which was so nice. I was pleasantly surprised, it tasted really good. The waiter ( sorry I forget your name) came over to see how everything was, was very attentive and we struck up a good conversation about tattoos.
I did feel intimidated walking in as it looks quite posh but the waiter put me at ease.
He also brought over a shot of something at the end... very sweet and strong. Overall this place is a good place to come, whether its after the lava cave or if your just looking for somewhere nice to eat. Very friendly English speaking staff member.

Definitely worth giving a try :)
It was the first time in a regular restaurant that we set the precise order standing before entrance and chatting with the staff! It was fun. They really wanted us to feel welcome there :-)
The fish soup was just as I like – tasty and with lots of “solid” content. I think the octopus made into our personal top five (to compare, the others being from Algarve, Galicia, Gozo and Vis). We said we were not very hungry yet and the meal was prepared for sharing between us two. Ahh, and the wine was very good.
The restaurant's exterior may look like car dealer’s salon but don’t be put off by that. We definitely recommend the place :)
