Casa Samay Mountain View

I had a wonderful stay at this hostel. It's a short 10 minute walk out of town, and it has brilliant views of the mountains and stars at night. I felt so well looked after by Carlos and his family. The only thing missing is breakfast and/or a shared kitchen.

This hostel is amazing. The dorms and bathrooms were always clean. They even change your bed sheets every 1-2 days. The manager, Carlos, was so helpful and friendly. He gave suggestions and helped plan out my day. I highly recommend Casa Samay.

Perfect place to relax in nature with amazing view of the mountains. I am a solo traveler and was recovering from a bad stomach bug. Carlos and his mom let me use their kitchen to make soup as I was on a restricted diet. His mom even helped me make soup and kept me company. Very attentive to whatever you need. Thank you Carlos and family for taking good care of me. I will be back. The mototaxi will charge you 5 soles to get there totally worth it.

Such a great place to stay and see the stars at night. The location is about a 10-15 minute walk from the city center. If you're looking for a relaxing and quiet hostel, this is the place.

A very comfortable and cosy stay. Carlos gave me a great welcome and explained lots of local hikes and places to see in Ollantaytambo, and let me refill my water bottle up as much as I liked without charging. the rooftop is spacious and the stars are beautiful at night. A really scenic place to say and only a short walk into town.

I had an incredible experience at Casa Samay! Carlos, the owner, was incredibly diligent and attentive from the moment I arrived. As a true host, he provided me with various options for exploring Ollantaytambo and even went the extra mile to assist in organizing my trip to Machu Picchu. Unfortunately, I encountered a leg injury just a day before my trek, but Carlos's exceptional care shone through. He swiftly and seamlessly arranged a solution for my journey back to Cusco. The rooms were not only nice and clean but the terrasse also offered a breathtaking view. I can't recommend it enough!

Amazing place! I was solo traveling and it was perfect, everything I needed. The price was much better than any of the other places I saw, and the service was unmatched. Would highly recommended this place.

This hostel has a rooftop lounge with a stunning view of Ollantaytambo and the surrounding mountain. It's about 2k from the city centre but worth it. Carlos is an affable young man with pretty good English. It has a homey atmosphere and a good breakfast. The shower is hot and the comfortable beds are not bunks.

We stayed 3 nights in the Casa Samay and it was a really nice experience mostly thanks to the kind welcome of Carlos the owner. Carlos is always available to give some explanations and tips to hang around. Besides the place is really nice with a wonderful rooftop, clean and pleasant rooms and good kitchen. The best hostel I stayed at in Peru! Really nice owner and really really friendly service! Loved the dog! The view also was just stunning. Waking up to that view makes you fall in love with this hostel and ollantaytambo! Definitely recommend it I felt just like home!

I've been to the sites in Machu Picchu, Ollantaytumbo, Cusco, & the beautiful Moray. As amazing as they were, my favorite visit was the Samay Hostel. It was out of the way, surrounded by mountains, & a perfect place to sit on the rooftop & stargaze. Carlos & his mother made me feel like I was a part of their family. They're the hardest working, sweetest, most pleasantly happy people I've ever met. The world needs more people like them & more people need to meet them. You need to stay here.

Samay was more a homestay than a hostel. The hosts personally take care of your needs, Enriqueta made savory pancakes every morning in addition to the standard bread, marmalade, coffee, and tea. The dorm was reasonably priced and extremely spacious. The only downside was that the mattresses were not very comfortable.

One of the most welcoming hosts in my entire 3 month trip around South America. He showed us Jupiter, told us local Inca legends and showed us amazing day hikes off the tourist track.

One of the very best hostels I have ever stayed in!! Carlos and his amazing mother went above and beyond to make me and my friends feel at home. The whole place is beautiful and so cozy... Really was the best experience and made me want to stay longer and longer. Carlos told us the whole history of the town and the legends for over an hour and showed us constellations from the rooftop, from which you can see the entire universe it seems. Thank you so much Carlos, you are amazing!!!!!

We loved the stargazing spot on the roof, you can see the Milky Way!

Awesome hostel, good vibes and very comfy.

Buen lugar, buena gente, cocina compartida, preciosas vistas. Para pasar una noche o parar unos días a descansar y relajarte leyendo en su terraza o caminando por la zona. Trato familiar. Conoci a la dueña de casualidad andando por la zona cuando empezaban en esta aventura con su hijo. Me puse a charlar con ella en la puerta y acabaron invitándome a comer con ellos. Gracias por ser como sois!

Eu tive uma experiência muito agradável nesse hostel. Além do local ser agradável, eles dispõem de um terraço fantástico com uma vista incrível das montanhas que rodeiam a cidade. Tomar café com aquela vista foi memorável. O fato de ser um pouco afastado da cidade (uma pequena caminhada) é primordial para quem quer um lugar tranquilo e poder apreciar as inúmeras estrelas a noite. O atendimento dos anfitriões é especial, com cuidado e bastante cordialidade. Foram extremamente agradáveis e com certeza seria um lugar que visitaria novamente.

Super semaine passée à ollantaytambo au côté de Carlos et pequina 😍😍 Hostel très calme, légèrement excentré du centre, rooftop incroyable où nous avons pu faire des barbecues avec les voyageurs ! Carlos, ancien guide parlant Quechua, est toujours disponible pour répondre à vos attentes et nous à même emmené voir des sites archéologiques peu connu du grand public.
Bref, excellent hostel
