Amazing time. Initially planned to stay for just one night but the space with their own farm (with produce used in the restaurant) and magical garden convinced us to stay 2 days more. Ollantaytambo should always be included when travelling to Peru. I'd love to return one day, and El Albergue Will definitely be a place to stay in.

Our stay here was absolutely magical. Not only were the rooms, gardens and farm stunning, but it is within walking distance to anywhere you want to go in ollantaytambo. Eating in the restaurant overlooking the train station was so cathartic, and the food was quite good. The convenience of stepping out of the hotel and onto the train was also so nice. I would 100% stay here again. A little slice of heaven.

I would give the Service 6 stars if I could. I just checked out today after a night spent there on my way to Machu Picchu, and I could not have had a better experience with them.

The hotel is inside the train station and you exit right in front of the train track, and all you have to do is jump on the train. Very convenient.

Rooms are fantastic, spacious, and have everything you need. Bed were comfortable. This hotel has a garden that really adds to the atmosphere.

Service went above and beyond with us. The front desk was very helpful; they gave us recommendations about our day trip to machu picchu, called a taxi for us and packed us a lunch box since we were leaving before breakfast was available in the kitchen.

Great restaurant and food as well.

I could not recommend this place enough for it's price, location, service.

Gracias!

Clean and comfortable room. Excellent restaurant. Location inside train station made it easy to hop on the train.
Walking distance to archeological sites and town. Easy train ride to Machu Pichu.

Convenient hotel (inside train station) with a surprise farm in the back. Excellent food and coffee roasted on property.

An island of peace and tranquility in the Sacred Valley. An ideal place to recharge your batteries. The cafe, the restaurant, the quality of the food and my amazing room (No 18) exceeded my expectations and it was worth every penny I paid.
The service is very good (thank you Helen for the nice experience of the Pachamanca!)

Perfect location, especially for staying the night in Ollantaytambo to catch the train to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu). Very large rooms with comfortable accommodations. The restaurant is the best part! If you don’t tour the distillery, try the matacuy, and finish off with a brownie… then you missed out!

Fabulous place to stay in Ollantaytambo! It’s located right next to the train station so very convenient. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. We had dinner and breakfast there, it was incredibly good. Everything is done locally, sustainably and with such care. All the staff was lovely. The place is just beautiful, I would have loved to stay longer! The prices are very good too. An absolute gem!

We had a really nice stay here, as were were going on a trip around Peru. When we came in, the lady at the counter offered us a free upgraded room, and we took it. It's so beautiful, with wonderful scenery and adorable animals. There were guinea pigs in one place where flowers blanketed the fields and there were adorable, playful dogs as well. We only stayed for one night, and my sister and I loved the dogs. The staff were so nice, and the breakfast was delicious.

Super convenient with very well appointed rooms. The walk to town was a bit far in the dark but very easy and safe. Only issue was that you could hear everything right outside your room.

Pretty good 3 night stay! I did a 2 week Peru trip and I stayed here for 3 nights, and I had a larger room to myself with 3 beds; I think that was the only one available to book when I booked it. It was the room overlooking the station, so it does get noisy, I was able to sleep the right amount of hours. I tried their restaurant multiple times, and they serve great food!

What an experience. My partner and I took a tour and ate at the restaurant (I wished we stayed at the hotel). The farm and property tour was heartwarming and a whole lot of fun. We got to taste some of the liquors they make onsite and see all of the different produce they grow. But it was the dinner that really wowed us. After two weeks in Peru, this was by far one of our favorite meals of our trip. The Rocoto Chicken was incredible, and the ingredients were all super fresh. We ran into the owner of the property, Wendy, and loved getting to hear her story behind the start of the property.

Amazing stay at Hotel Albergue! The staff are amazing, location is unbeatable for the Short Inca Trail and Machu Picchu, and the rooms are lovely and the bed was super comfortable! Gorgeous gardens and ambiance, wonderful wood-fired sauna with fresh eucalyptus—would highly recommend! Definitely make time to do the coffee roasting, pachamanca and distillery experiences!

This rating is for the restaurant- I have not stayed at the hotel. Went with two friends - three separate drinks and three separate meals. (Also shared one phenomenal dessert). Enjoyed everything! Also received a free tour of the organic garden and distillery (with tasting samples!)

Highly recommend the restaurant; hot grounds were pretty too. Quite a walk from Plaza de Armas, but worth it!!

This hotel is IN the train station which is fantastic if you're taking an early train to machu Pichu. It's very beautiful with room distributed around a gorgeous lush garden. Our room was large and had a balcony that over looked the garden. There is also an organic farm onsite and a cute pup. Dispite being in the train station it's a lovely reprieve from the hustle and bustle of a bust trip/ town. The cafe has great coffee and snacks too

Wow! Yes, this is definitely one of those magical places where you keep on extending your stay because you immediately feel like home. The people are so kind and have a great energy, al-ways there for you to help. We even got an upgrade. Also, the breakfast, lunch, dinner and coffees are lovely. Next to that, this hotel is in itself a great little oasis surrounded by mother nature. You can brew your own drinks, make your own coffee and visit the local organic farm and school. Lots to do, and to enjoy here. Rather stay here than in Aguas Calientes, It's a must on your way to Machu Picchu. And the train departs in front of the hotel. Yes, enjoy lots!!!

Our stay at El Albergue was amazing! Rather than going to Cusco, we went to Ollantaytambo straight from the airport and acclimated there for our hikes in Sacred Valley area. It was the right decision. The town is compact, less crowded, with fewer people trying to sell you stuff than what we later experience in Cusco. We spent 5 nights in El Albergue and loved our stay. The hotel upgraded us to a nice room, since we stayed so long (thank you!). The room was spacious, rustic, overlooked their organic garden, and we could see Mount Veronica from the wrap-around balcony. The breakfast included with our stay was not as big as some people (Americans :) ) might expect, but it was made from the ingredients from their organic farm and every morning, they had 3-4 options chef made by order—it was tasty. We really enjoyed sitting in the dining room overlooking the train station and watching all the excited people traveling to Machu Picchu knowing that in a few days, we would be among them. The day we had to leave early for Lake Humantay hike, they packed our breakfast and we also ordered their box lunch—it was huge and really good. I don’t like brownies—just don’t, but their coffee brownie was addictive! The restaurant on site was nice, but if you are staying in Ollantaytambo, don’t miss having diner in their sister restaurant on the main square Chuncho—our favorite place in town.

Lida, who worked the front desk most of time we were there, could not be more helpful and made sure our stay was great. She is proficient in English and was also our guide/interpreter for Pachamanca lunch. Other staff were also nice and helpful. Not all of them were as fluent and proficient in English as Lida, so we had couple small mishaps caused by something “lost in translation”; however, it was not a big deal and fixed quickly.

Whether you stay at the hotel or not, we highly recommend their Pachamanca lunch. It comes with a tour of their organic garden, coffee roasting facility, and distillery. You’ll get to taste the coffee and liquor as well. The lunch is $47, if you stay at the hotel it’s $40. Pachamanca lunch is served outdoors in a beautiful but rustic setting and it included chicken, lamb, and pork, vegetables, several kinds of potatoes, cheese vegetable dish, salad, desert, chicha morada, and coffee.

If you travel to Machu Picchu, don’t skip Ollantaytabo and spend some time at El Albergue.

Great hotel. location by the train is really nice and the whole hotel is so charming with the garden and the farm. Would definitely recommend staying here again if I had to come. A bit of a walk from the main square but it was a beautiful walk on the dirt path next to the farm.

My husband and I stayed at El Albergue in July prior to trekking the Inca Trail and had an absolutely fantastic time. The hotel was beautiful, spacious, clean, and the level of service was top notch. We greatly appreciated the laundry service which was picked up and delivered to our door very promptly. We also enjoyed using the sauna on site and fresh daily breakfast. During our stay, we also had the Pachamanca lunch and farm/distillery tour which was a highlight - we would highly recommend this as a trip to El Albergue would not be complete without this delicious and unique experience. Thank you to the entire team for such a lovely trip!
