I have always loved shopping here. Another thing which amazed me is how this old-time departmental store is catching up with the fast pace of technology that it has such great online shopping platform. Recently, they opened a food court at the highest level selling all sorts of food at affordable prices.

Old school dept stall like Yaohan. Love it! Consist of a supermarket, bakery,food court and roadside hawker downstairs. Very convenient with good value merchandise. Patient lift helper and nice promotors but fierce cashiers. Just opposite Neo Hotel Penang and near Komtar the Top.

Gama is one of my favourite department stores in Penang- let me explain why!

+ Clean, nicely renovated, with a ton of options for shopping. You have a LOT of clothes/ apparel to look at. They are all well curated, with a large range of well-known brands to shop. From men denim, to women intimate wear, to perfumes, to home wear, to plus-sized women office wear, everything is available!

+ Their supermarket is well-stocked and organised meticulously. I managed to find dairy options I couldn’t find at Sunshine, or elsewhere. There’s really a lot of food items you can browse through. And the store layout is compact. So no mindless walking required!

+ Good lighting. The building management is wise for choosing such a good lighting that creates a welcoming ambience for shoppers like me.

+ Location, location and location. It is located at a bustling part of town, with a lot of good FnB options near by. You can grab dinner and come here to stretch your legs and do some cardio😂.

Def pay this place a visit. Did not regret!

Shop where locals shop and eat like a local :p 😝😝😝 well that makes GAMA grocery shopping more fun now with reopening of a spacious food court on level 7. Half the stalls are open now. It’s clean, it’s bright and not hot. Was pleasantly surprised by the 180° view of surrounding Georgetown, Penang. Tall KOMTAR never look this close hahahaahaha…. Due to the current limited menu, I settled for stall#3 YeeFuMee with an addition of fried fish fillet (what better way to order food than to copy from next table local customers lol)
…and boy oh boy the fillet knocked my socks off! It was shockingly delicious or I was just plain ravenous 👍👍👍👍

By and large bear in mind GAMA is a humble, popular, local departmental store that stood the test of time for decades when it’s contemporaries fell by the sidewalks. Don’t expect European luxury brands here. It’s just simply good value for money, and that is all that matters. And I adored the 80s and 90s ballads!

An old-school departmental store where you can find everything in one place. It evokes a sense of nostalgia, reminiscent of shopping in the 80s. The newer generation might find this concept a bit unusual.

We always visit Gama when we stay in George Town and it's just like British department stores from the good old days with a very wide range of goods and very friendly and helpful staff in every department. We asked one assistant for an item that she said the did not have and she even told us where we could get on locally, exceptional service and why we will always shop at Gama

Gama at lv7 have toilet,mushola, and foodcourt. Nice place, friendly staff at drink counter, im always order lime plum juice at this place, have halal food counter and have no pork counter. Nice view👍👍 komtar

I always enjoy shopping at Gama. It's where I buy my men's wear and other items when I visit Penang. The supermarket is very well stocked as well. Staff are professional , friendly and helpful.

Food court was quiet and clean with a great scenic view of the city from the 7th floor. Good prices. Support small business! Free wifi for customers too.

Compared to AEON, gama supermarket is more value for money

Gama is a very iconic long time supermarket in downtown Georgetown. Can get your groceries here easily.

Gama supermarket have many things to shop.. Very busy and very crowded.. Clean toilet and ATM machine..

Great place for shopping specially home needs and clothes

This place is awesome. All their staff were consistently helpful, intelligent, proactive and very polite. They are ready to assist at all times. I have been there every day since I arrived at George Town. I will continue to shop there every day until I leave the island. This is the best customer service standard a retailer of this size can hope to have. They must be treating and training their employees very well.
Thank you for being a great host and a great ambassador of Penang, Malaysia to all your locals and tourist like me.

A very dependable old-school departmental store that has existed since our grandmother's days. Managed to get some swimwear I was looking for. Friendly staff who could be your neighborhood aunties. Hope they continue to exist in the decades to come.

Amazing how this supermarket stand the test of time. 100 years. They even got the old school style lift attendant which a cool feature compare to other mall. The price is still ok I think, bought my baby stuff here. So far good. The ATMs were placed close to the mall in case you need cash. Parking wise not sure since we got lucky and park near the entrance. Kudos to the management in keeping the place alive, keep up the good work
