The best place to stay on the north side of Langkawi. Very much worth the money. The staff was very nice. The bed was very comfortable. We paid for a room with ocean view which was unbelievable. I didn't think I could spend my days doing nothing but I just couldn't get enough of the view and peacefulness of the place. The beach is empty with beach beds on each side of the beach only. Our booking came with a 100RM voucher which covered 4 cocktails during happy hour. The pool next to the bar was great, warm water and not too chlorine-y. There are food stands next to the resort on the public beach. Very easy to book excursions at the public area as well. We had a great time and would love to come back!

Perfect location, hotel and food. A real tropical paradise!

The on site Italian restaurant called the Chef's Table was outstanding.

Two pools... One of which for adults only so nice and peaceful.

What i can say, this resort is superb. The hospitality beyond normal 5 star rating hotel. For me the location is very exclusive with private beach. The view is magnificent especially during sunset. The room is comfortable and big enough for my small family with 3 kids. The staff is friendly and helpful.

We spent an amazing holiday at this resort! If you’re looking for beautiful sea views, a white beach, friendly staff and plenty of privacy: this is the place for you.

What’s so special about this resort is the private beach, so now crowds. There are 2 pools: one for families and one adult-only, which makes it a perfect quiet relaxing holiday for couples as well. The adult only pool is huge as well, so even in the water you get to enjoy plenty of personal space. If you want you can order delicious meals and drinks at the pool. The service is impeccable.

The staff is very friendly and made us feel welcome from the start. Upon entering the open reception and then the courtyard we truly felt like stepping into a dream holiday resort.

We would extend our special thanks to Ameran who went above and beyond to make our stay so memorable. We will definitely come back for another fabulous holiday here!

An amazing hotel on the best (huge) beach on the island. Very quiet and secluded. Two very good pools, lovely gym.
The only negative is that you need to eat at the hotel in the evenings, as there are no other local food places open after 6pm.

LOCATION:
The location of the resort is perfect: situated in the far north-east side of the island, you will encounter a beautiful view of the 2 small islands (which can be reached at low-tide), just in front of an extremely wide white sand beach, dedicated only of the resorts guests + the view of the pond with the palms and the waterlilies, just mesmerizing.
CLEANLINESS: the resort is in the process of renovation, but it is very well maintained in terms of cleanliness.
ROOM: I think it is one of the biggest suites we have stayed in (and I can count thousands of stays around the world) + very well equipped.
FACILITIES: in terms of facilities, we have took advantage of almost all of them, including the gym (again with such a nice view to train with) + 2 very big pools (one dedicated only for adults and the other one for families).
STAFF: Unfortunately, when it comes to this chapter, they will have to make adjustments. Most of them are trainees, with very few experience, we had to wait all the time for such a loooong time for our food even though sometimes we were the only guests at the restaurant. None of the chefs dishes were according to our taste buds (I've order fish and chips and they provided it raw), we literally survived on pizza. You will be quite stranded, no Grab will come to pick you up for short distances so you will have to dine-in and the prices are sometimes x3 higher than normal.
We had an issue with our booking at 1st: I have requested a double bed, but provided a twin room, that was soon took care of and I thank them for this.
All in all, I really recommend this place, maybe your taste buds and stomach are not that sensitive, the resort is truly unique.

Very peaceful and quiet place, large, clean beach with a nice view and wonderful sunsets, two big swimming pools, neat hotel garden with many plants and animals, great food, very warm and friendly personel, big comfortable rooms, exceptionally clean and no other hotel nearby. Everything is in order and works perfectly, the hotel exists since 1995 but is in perfect shape. Complimentary water in the rooms to avoid plastic bottles. Also the Spa-treatment was great.

I cannot overstate how much we loved this hotel. If you are considering booked it - do it!

It is a serene place, the perfect stop after KL. The breakfast buffet is extensive and high quality- both Asian and European cuisines.

The staff are kind and thoughtful. We enjoyed many afternoons/evenings by the pool enjoying happy hour.

Some of the other reviews describe the hotel as ‘dated’, I think this is unfair and likely to be because they are comparing it to a fancy modern hotel in a city! The hotel was clean and so beautiful.

It was our honeymoon when we visited and we were treated to a few extra touches, which we are very grateful for!

We will be back, hopefully to celebrate an anniversary!!

Terima kasih Tanjung Rhu Resort.

What a wonderful stay my only regret being I wasn’t able to stay longer! Absolutely stunning views from our sea view room, blissfully peaceful, lovely and welcoming staff and fantastic drinks & food. This was extra special to me as I selected Tanjung Rhu as my proposal setting and it was perfect! A massive thanks to Syafirah who helped me throughout the process to create the best set up I could have wished for. Thank you again and I’ll be making sure to visit once again and recommend this resort to anyone who visits the beautiful island of Langkawi.

We stayed here for 2 nights in mid February. Truly great resort. Wish we'd stayed longer. We booked a Cahaya Suite (a very last minute booking) and got upgraded to the Anjung Seaview; this is probably the closest we've ever gotten to winning the lottery.

Breakdown:

1. Service: Friendly and attentive throughout, from check-in staff to bellboy to room service to waiters to gardeners! They can pick you up at the airport and drop you off too. The staff do make the hotel.

2. Room: Totally bonkers. The suite is bigger than our entire flat in central London. Massive windows facing the Andaman Sea with 2 balconies, one facing the sea and one facing the beautiful garden. Comes with a jacuzzi, complementary cookies, coffee machine, beach slippers, etc. Room is on the top floor (3rd or 4th I can't remember) and has no lift access, but this is fine for us.

3. Beach: Paradise. Standard sun, sky, sea configuration but in the best way possible. White sand, turquoise sea, blue sky, with some little karst islands dotting the view. Not much in the way of shade so you're quite reliant on the hotel deck chairs and parasols. Pretty quiet as a large stretch of Tg Rhu beach appear to be owned by the hotel, though there's a small strip at the northern end that is open to the public. Occasionally people wander in from that side of the beach onto the hotel beach, and 90% of the time management will swiftly and politely send them away.
Only drawback: you can't swim in the sea here. There were red flags out, I didn't see them, got in the water, and got a minor jelly sting. The day after we went on a walk along the beach and saw a number of beached jellyfishes.

4. Restaurants: There's something like 6 restaurants on the hotel site itself. We tried the cafe, Saffron (for the Saturday BBQ), and Sands for an a la carte dinner. Buffet breakfast is also at Sands. All is well. Food is good, service is great. Live entertainment is also pretty great. Only note is that they need to replenish the pizzas more often at the Saturday BBQ! Prices are expensive by Malaysian standards, but quite reasonable for a hotel, if going by UK standards. I've paid more for a can of Coke in a Premier Inn in Canary Wharf.

5. Location: Tanjung Rhu is away from the hubbub so if its nightlife you want, you should stay at Cenang beach. We deliberately wanted to be away from the chaos. Also note that due to the remote location, you'll have to pretty much always eat in one of the hotel restaurants for dinner as the local shack restaurants at the public end of the beach seem to close by about 7pm.

6. Activities: One of the hotel staff pointed us to a mangrove tour which we joined. It was pretty great. You can also rent kayaks and jetskis. The hotel also has two separate pools, one for families and one for adults. Both are impressive pools, and even the family pool wasn't very chaotic when we were there, a rarity for Malaysia.

Conclusions:
If you are going to be in Langkawi, and you want to lounge around all day on the sunlounger looking at the incredible views, this is the place for you. Nowhere in Europe can beat this resort for its combination of value for money and sheer beauty. Thank you to all the staff that made this resort what it is. We'll be back!

We loved our stay at Tanjung Rhu resort. The pools are awesome. Our Grandkids loved it there. Beach is beautiful and clean. It's in a peaceful area away from the main tourist trap down south, but only a short Grab ride to anywhere on the island.
Would definitely go back.

Perfect place to bring your family for a serene and peaceful getaway. The moment we arrived we greeted by such warmth and welcoming smiles. Personally loved running on the beach as the sun came up. Two thumbs up and can’t wait to go again!!

TRR, what a fabulous location the best beach on Langkawi, certainly with a view that will be with you forever.
Staff are so friendly and willing to assist you with your needs. Ebau and Tommy at the adult pool bar, great memories, lots of laughter.
It's been a while since our last visit, yes it's changed and work is ongoing but still retains all the charm we love so much.
Definitely a place to relax and enjoy.
Special thanks to Julius for an amazing dinner on the beach with perfect company.
A final mention to Ameran, thank you for everything.

Loved every aspect of this place from the breakfast to the pools to the people who greet you when you first arrive and wave you off when you leave. Thank you for providing an amazing experience at a great price, we will defo be coming back when we next visit! All staff are very approachable and always looking for ways to improve themselves. Only thing I'd improve is the water pressure of the rain showers, they are a bit low and it'd be nice if the sailing was up and running as it's a lovely place to sail.
Thanks for having us🤙

Far from city and other attractions but a good quiet getaway with its own private beach. Beautiful rooms with all toiletries and needs provided. Numerous pools and restaurants for your needs. There’s also a small market at the side of the resort with some shops for a taste in local flavour.

It's very difficult to put into words how wonderful this little gem is. We have recently returned from our 3rd trip to this amazing resort and we were certainly not disappointed.
Without doubt the beach is the best in the whole of Langkawi. However what makes this treasure unique are staff who went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that our stay was so memorable. It's hard to name all of the staff who were professional, friendly and always smiling and were a credit to Tanjung Rhu. Nevertheless it would be remiss of us not to mention Ebau from the Sands pool bar who remembered us from almost 20 years ago. Every day he greeted us with his infectious smile and witty conversation at our pre dinner drinks. Furthermore we must highlight Ameran, the resort manager who treated us like Royalty and with kindness and respect. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Thank you Ameran and team. We will return at some point in the near future and very much look forward to it.
