I had been here before but now the place looks better. We had a long chat with the owner of the house about the history of the place. It was worth the visit. Thank you for the hospitality .

My visit was really nice and pleasant. I love that they played gamelan and cooked traditional kuih. There was a show on the legendary princess Mahsuri. I consider these places, historical. It was worth it.

Once upon a time this was a tourist attraction, which has many legends and I remembered 25 years ago we will try to look for the burnt grains.
However, today it seems left the historical sight only. Still a well decorated board, mosques and monument for us to ponder. Just before you enter this historic side, you will be spoilt with traditional and typical Malaysia designs T shirts, sarong, batik and many more. Good souvenirs shop.

Burnt rice was discovered when the land owner built this house. Actually it's a private land but they are opening their place for visiting and to see burnt rice and the place where it was discovered.
Why this place important is, it's an evidence of an ancient battle was happened here.
So it makes us feeling that we are standing and living on continuous history from the ancient people.

Read explanation in there. Actually you can find it from the other user's photo.

Fyi, to get here, you need to enter through the batik market. Ask someone if you can't find. If you're reached at a community mosque, you need to come back and ask someone.

This is historical landmark of langkawi.. Locally the place is known as Beras Terbakar which means Field of Burnt Rice. Although there is nothing much to see there now, it has a lot of historic significance. When the battle broke out between Siam and Langkawi at Pancur Straits in 1821, at one stage the then chief of Langkawi's Army Dato Kemboja realized that soon the Siamese would capture the island. Other than that you can see small portion shop that sell minyak gamat, kain batik and also surviniour.
