Staying at this resort was an unparalleled experience! The staff's warm and friendly demeanor made me feel at home from the moment I arrived. Their exceptional hospitality and constant attention to detail ensured I was pampered at every turn. The resort's ambiance is incredibly nice, offering the perfect place to re-energize and relax. The beautiful surroundings and top-notch amenities further enhanced my stay. Immense credit to the entire team for creating such a welcoming and luxurious environment. This is, without a doubt, the best resort I have ever stayed at! Surely will come back, if i get the chance. ❤

Superb hotel complex. Wonderful staff. Fantastic beach which is very safe and has lovely views. Four restaurants on site all different and good. Gets very busy at weekends and holiday periods.

This is an incredible resort in an unbelievable location. The staff and welcome is perfect, the rooms and comfortable and well designed and the facilities are very good including the on site restaurants. Only note for anyone looking to book: we visited in a busy period and there were lots of families and young kids which we would usually avoid. This also meant any activities the resort offered were fully booked throughout our stay so contact the hotel in advance to book things in.

My family holiday experience
22-may-2024 to 26-may-2024 @ Beach Villa

It was awesome holiday experience offered by the entire Datai team.
From moment pickup from airport and drop, all staff always striving to guest experience.
This is the place where i couldn’t just point few names and give credits. this definitely shows they have great culture and value within Datai.
We loved hornbill, monkeys visiting our villa often and security always on spot to check their activities.
Great butler service from Mr.Asyraf, i could see only very few people with this level of professionals in this profession. Day 1 to day 5 , i could see his consistency. Datai is great to have him.
I have no major complaints, they took care of all needs with utmost care.

Daily fruits to villa was not replenished with new fruits. Could have given more attention and made some new type fruits.

The Gulab house staff ( i don’t want to disclose the staff name) always pushing to take liquor when its not usual for someone to have wine or others during food. People should understand and respect the guest.

hair dryer was not available in the villa which i feel strange.

Datai offers something for all age group but i see missing for kids less than 5 years old.
If they could have some small indoor play area with some fun toys and slide would be nicer to make them engage in physical activity.

I generally don’t like to revisit the place but Datai had made certain impact in holiday experience.
Thank you Datai

We spent a week at this amazing place and enjoyed every minute of it. What a beautiful location, super friendly staff, great amenities, tasty food, fantastic wildlife, and a great beach. The guides on the nature walks are so passionate, it is contagious 🙂 thanks for making this an unforgettable holiday.

My husband and I spent several nights of our vacation in one of the Datai's rain forest villas. Everything about The Datai is outstanding: staff, service, food, location, accommodations. We were impressed that they have seemingly thought of every detail, and their staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. We dined at The Pavilion (Thai) , the Dining Room (fine dining), and the Beach Club, and took advantage of the naturalist on staff to go on the Canopy Walk where our guide Hamish pointed out the local flora and fauna. The troop of langurs that comes to the beach area to feed on the special leaves was very cool, and we were lucky to see the golden-colored baby langur. While all of the staff were great, the Dining waitstaff, managers, and chef/cooks of the Pavilion and Dining Room really stood out. I hope that I'll be able to visit Langkawi again, and when I do I won't even think about staying at any other hotel.

Wish the rates will better...we will return again as its a lovely retreat from city life into a very tranquil environment with beautiful beach and very good service! and a whole loads of things to do in the rainforest. tqvm Datai and your impeccable team of people!

One of my best hotel experience in the World. 5 stars hotel Lost between the jungle and the sea. We booked for a rainforest villa (41) absolutely marvelous surrounded by the jungle. Beach 5/10min by walk from the lobby or ask for a buggy. 2 swimming pool one adult and one family. Staff over friendly and professional. Thanks to u we come back to Paris so relaxed

Had an amazing 8 nights at this stunning resort. The staff are simply amazing and there are so many of them and so incredibly helpful and friendly

The restaurants are all very good although we did not try the ultra fine dining Dining Room (prices 😱). The Malaysian food in the Gulai was life changing.

We stayed in an rainforest lodge which was absolutely stunning. The main form of transport around the resort is golf buggies, so you may wish to choose a villa where the balcony doesn’t overlook one of the buggy tracks as it can be a bit busy at times. However my wife said “get over it!”

The beach was beautiful and uncrowded with plenty of staff on hand to get drinks and clean your sunglasses!

Criticism? I’m struggling. Wine! Have some wines on the standard drinks menus as it was a bit irksome being handed a wine list the size of an old telephone directory every time you wanted a simple day time tipple. Also the white wine isn’t served cold enough and within a few minutes in the heat it’s too warm.

Plenty of wild life!

You’d awaken from the best sleep you’ve had in years, to the sounds of nature. The view from the balcony in the rainforest villa is breathtaking, and you spend quite a bit of your day lazing at the balcony, breathing in the fresh air.

The room was incredibly spacious, the surroundings delightful, and if at all possible, topped by the service which was outstanding.

Few things stood out- tragically fell ill when I was there and the staff helped get me some panadol in the meantime whilst waiting for meds I ordered to be delivered to the hotel. The level of concern shown, and prompt delivery of the meds to our door can’t go without a mention.

The food was fresh, and whilst not the biggest spread, more than made up for it in quality. The pastries at breakfast- daresay the best I’ve ever had! Fell in love with the Nutella doughnuts and mentioned to a staff on a day when it wasn’t in the spread, and 15 mins later, was surprised with specially made doughnuts for me! These are just a few of the many little ways the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was 11/10. Have heard lovely things but was astounded by the impeccably friendly staff all around, who knew when to chat and when to leave us be. Special note to the guy at the omelette station who was very lovely and friendly, which can be tricky as one may come off as overfamiliar. All in all, was a delight and hope to be able to treat myself to a trip back soon!

I came to The Datai from KL as a friend recommended it and i must say it is hands down the best hotel i’ve stayed at. Staff are friendly and food is very good despite being on the pricey end. Although breakfast buffet is not a huge variety, quality of food is very good and cannot skip on the roti made by (i think as i could not see name tag clearly) chef haekal really best roti i’ve ever had. TV also got all sports channels so can watch but a bit old. If you are into nature this hotel is truly the best as the beach has a coral reef which you can snorkel and see (although be careful of jellyfish). Also have activities such as night walk where you can see flying lemur’s, mouse-deer and scorpions glowing in the dark. If you want there is also optional activities such as crystal creek where you can follow guide for 10 minute hike then jump into a creek with clear water (but not advisable during rainy season as got leech and current). Hotel also not scared to spend money as at breakfast buffet got champagne and foie gras but be careful when eating at restaurants to ask for ice water instead of still otherwise you kena 40 ringgit bottle of water.

This was supposed to be just another relaxing weekend getaway with my bff, but it has opened my eyes to a whole other level of beach resort holiday. The Datai Langkawi was an experience like no other. It’s a good example of the beauty that can be achieved when heart and soul goes into our work. The biggest winning factor was service. It was not only quality service, but quality service with sincerity. Special mention to Dev, Izzy and Shakira (I am not very sure of the last name; so sorry if I got it wrong). They were our guides on three different free walks around the resort. I was so impressed by their knowledge and naturally spirited manner of delivery; at no point did their presentation feel laboured or scripted (I paid special attention to this as I work in the media). I also love how the resort is designed, understated elegance nestled quietly in nature. My entire stay was truly peaceful and therapeutic, and one of the main reasons for this was the ability to appreciate the sounds of nature. No music was played in the restaurant, by the pool or in the spa (we were offered the option of spa music during our massage, an option we did not take). I was able to hear the leaves rustling, birds singing, cicadas chiming, waves lulling…it was wonderful. Other than the rooms, many parts of the resort were not enclosed and air-conditioned, yet these areas remained windy and cool despite the hot and dry weather. These simple but clever design touches also encouraged the natural inhabitants of the island (birds, frogs/toads, monkeys and Colugos!) to visit the resort and live within it too, something I enjoyed very much, from a respectful distance of course. And the beach at Datai Bay was simply magical. I am already planning my next trip to The Datai with my family, I’m sure they are going to love it!

We spent a few nights here recently, and what an experience it was! Of course, the resort has everything you expect from a top-of-the-line holiday resort: snappy and attentive service, quality furnishings, fine dining options. But the true value proposition for the Datai is the idea of five-star resort living ensconced in a million-year-old rainforest, with a beautiful sandy white beach at your doorstep.

More than anything, the real artistry of the Datai is that they got the balance between Nature and Comfort just right. You will be constantly right up against Mother Nature herself, with hornbills and apes saying hi to you at the balcony of your room, while you say hi from the other side of the balcony door, enclosed in the air conditioned comfort of your room.

A personal note: the day before we were about to leave, I stepped on a nasty sea urchin while wading through the beach. The staff were very quick to respond, helping me off the beach and ministering to the wound. Everyone was very kind and thoughtful, and I felt cared for.

We had stayed at the Andaman some years ago, so we knew the beach was going to be amazing. But the overall experience of the Datai was truly something else. Highly highly recommended.

Great stay at the resort, especially for the following reasons:

- The kindest buggy drivers make you feel so comfortable and welcomed at the resort. Really appreciate their kindness, which felt so genuine and warm, and the service was very fast too

- Had some feedback to the resort with one particular activity and the villa room, and the duty manager, guest experience managers were so kind and considerate to hear the feedback and really went above and beyond to rectify it. It is really the effort that means a lot, and Datai team’s effort didnt go unnoticed, which made the stay very enjoyable and highly satisfactory

- The landscape of the resort as well as the facilities (swimming pool, stairs, pathway around the resort, beach area) are pristine and immaculate, you can tell the maintenance is kept at a very high standard

- Fantastic dinner served at the Pavillion and Gulai, food was absolutely amazing with very well priced wine. Really liked both restaurants and happy we had the chance to try both

- Transportation to the golf course was super convenient and satisfactory with their well maintained, clean cars

- Water sports were complimentary, such as paddle boats, kayak

Well well, guess what? I didn't exactly get to stay at Datai Langkawi, but boy did I have an amazing time WORKING there as a photographer for this incredibly sweet and intimate wedding! Picture this: I stayed in one of the most charming chalets (or so I think?) with the bride and her family. Can you believe there was even a pool and this massive bath area where everyone got dolled up together for hours? Needless to say, I've got the inside scoop on all the nooks, crannies, and perfect lighting spots! (Yep, gotta keep that camera busy, right?) Oh, and let me tell you, I totally fell in love with the room!

And get this – I even got to indulge in the bride's thoughtful room service offering: a simple yet oh-so-satisfying sandwich that hit the spot just right. I was there from morning till night, so I got to mingle with the amazing staff too – from checking in, to hopping on those cute buggy rides, chatting with the wedding planner, and scouting out the best photo spots around the venue. I even got the lowdown on every little detail of the ceremony right up to the dinner reception. Talk about an immersive experience!

But here's the best part: I managed to capture some stunning shots throughout the day. So, here's hoping these photos might sway other couples to consider this dreamy venue for their own special day! Fingers crossed I'll have the chance to come back (either to work or play) sometime soon! Xoxo, Jane from Hellojanelee Photography

This is the best hotel I’ve stayed so far! Seamless service, high attention to details. They offer things which I’ve never seen in any other resorts, for example deep clean of your glasses on the beach, night tea provided daily with sweets, excellent baby menu for those under 2 y.o., and many other small things which make a huge difference. We had a family holidays here with 2 kids: a baby and a 4 y.o. I really want to come back once kids are over 6 y.o. as there are lots of interesting activities for them to join. Beach is amazing for small kids: water temperature was +30oC in December, and it’s a shallow water for a first few meters. Family pool is right next to the beach so you don’t need to choose between staying next to the pool or sea. There’s no butler service in the hotel, but believe me or not after a few days of staying there I thought it’s not really needed because the service is just superb, buggies arrive promptly, you don’t need to preorder kids meals as they serve it immediately,.. I’m usually very picky when it comes to service and food, and The Datai exceeded my expectations! Special thank you to Gaik Ying at the reception. They make you feel as a very special guest.

Another note on a fantastic Christmas Eve dinner: very delicious (especially cold seafood platter and whole roasted lamb), high quality, great service and value for money. Again, best Christmas buffet we’ve ever had. Christmas carols broke my heart!

Amazing resort! The personalized service is like no other hotel we’ve experienced. The service was top-notch. The food at the restaurant was very good. The recreation activities that were included in the room price was a great bonus. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Just came back from a 4D3N stay in this resort and wishing I was still there right now! Everything about the facilities, service and location are truly top notch. We felt so at home here as the service staff were all so friendly and helpful throughout our stay, we did not venture out at all as we enjoyed the beautiful beach at Datai Bay so much that we spent all our afternoons there turning into red lobsters at the end of the trip! The beach is so clean, with soft sand and beautiful waters. They also have kayaks, paddle boards, snorkels, and sailboats exclusively for guests to use there, we were never bored! Staff at the beach club would sometimes come around to offer us ice for our drinks, ice cream or alcohol shots all on the house. We were also lucky to be able to witness some local langurs (monkeys) feasting on the tree leaves in the afternoon. The architects here did a fantastic job at marrying the property with the rainforest and the beach; we were able to see so much wildlife there like eagles, squirrels, colugos, and hornbills that would perch themselves near our balcony.

We got the basic canopy room with twin beds but the rooms are so well furnished and with spacious toilets with twin sinks and a huge bath tub. The resort is quite eco-conscious and avoids plastic waste as much as possible - using glass bottles of water, and eco friendly toiletries. Beverages like evian, san pellegrino, anchor beer and soft drinks are replenished on a daily basis and they have a tasteful selection of coffee and teas in-room as well. We loved the nightly turndown service (although the staff had forgotten to turndown on our last night and we had to call to remind them) and had such good sleeps!

The buffet breakfast made us spoilt for choice with their wide selection of asian and international cuisines, with champage and cocktails available for those who need a perk me up in the mornings! The staff during breakfast service were always so friendly and helpful to look after our every need.

There are also complimentary morning and evening guided walks around the estate to tell guests more about the wildlife, and yoga and pilates classes.

We also tried the spa, which was very pricey at 500RM for a 1 hour massage. The masseuse was friendly and professional and delivered a relaxing but firm massage. We did not feel it was worth the price though, and we were abit disappointed that the staff had forgotten to serve us drinks after the massage and we had to remind them to do so.

Overall it was a fantastic stay and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a short getaway!

Remarkable. Excellent yet professional service all round from concierge to any ground staff on duty. Was on a Wedding Anniversary trip with my spouse and it's just so pleasant throughout the stay. Appreciate all the arrangement made. Great room cleanliness, Mini bar is completed with coffee machine, capsules, teas, snacks etc. This is one of the few facilities in Langkawi that is so close to nature then offers true rainforest and beach views. Simply nothing less than magnificent. Highly recommended for folks who is looking to getaway from everyday hustle and bustle. Absolutely one of a kind experience.
