Food was good and reasonably priced. Portion was huge - enough for 3 small eaters. Was early at opening time but already crowded.

Love their char hor fun so much because rich with wok hei and very delicious. Their Mantis Shrimp Rice also taste good. Very fair price (the price in the menu is nett price) and big portion. Value of money with free ice cream after meal.
Always big crowd for their operating hours during lunch and dinner. Need to come earlier if you don't want to wait. Will come again to try other food. Highly recommended 👍

The first time I went their food is sold out due to many customers. Got to know they have limited stock for every opening because they want to provide the fresh food to the customer. Their service and heart to serve the customer is worth of 5 star. Plus the food is nice and affordable. There are plenty parking lot in front of the church building so you can easily park yoir car. I would recommend their pork chop and indiana chicken. Thumbs up!

Went another time and try different dishes. Never get disappointed. Recommended by friends to try hua tan hor & mee sua. Their dishes are full of wok hay.

Very fair price and large portion.
The food taste is great.
And the wind breeze unstopped, you won't feel too humid and hot during hot weather.
Moreover, who don't love the free flow of ice-cream 😁

We have eaten here several times. The food caters to a more western palate in my opinion, but it's very good. They provide generous portions of many Asian dishes, burgers, interesting looking pizzas, and savory pies. The "free" ice cream is a nice little bonus. The service is always prompt and friendly despite always being very busy. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Definitely recommend if you have a craving for western dishes and flavors.

The food here is really good and portion are also really big. For the price that you pay and the portion that you get back, it's really worth it. The place has indoor and outdoor seating so you can choose where you want. It's not a really big cafe but it's cozy.

The Hailam Char and Chicken Chop are definitely super stars of the menu. I give 2 thumbs up for the recommended dishes on the menu. The slices of pork in the noodle dishes and amount of chicken for the sweet sour chicken rice is very generous. The hailam char is cooked to perfection with big pieces of lard thrown in thus adding to the flavour and taste of it. The only downside to this place is the waiting time. Come by for lunch after you have finished your breakfast and have good company to chit chat or catch up with. The food is worth the wait!

My overall impression of this place is that the cafe was quite busy and full of customers, yet comfortable. There were only 2 staffs working on the day I came, so sometimes we had to wait a bit long for the food, but their service was good and they tried to serve us as quickly as possible.
The menu covers not only western food but also chinese food. The dishes and drinks were tasty and came in big portions. We also tried the Pork Pie, and we think the pies are must-try if you come here 😆.
My advice is if you wanna come here for dinner, should come before 7pm. After this time, it gets very crowded.

Simple place right in the heart of Georgetown, Penang, next to Cititel Hotel which you cannot miss. Dine in setting with a sense of community. The staff is friendly, and the Star is an adorable efficient young boy who is smart beyond his age! Food is delicious, reasonably priced though we find the drinks on the expensive end. Popular items are the CharHorFun (fried flat noodles in thick gravy), fried rice and pizza. We missed the Pie, we were advised to reserve beforehand. Be ready to wait 30-45 min at peak hours. Kitchen closed at 9.30pm, so do come in early. Free seating. Free salads and ice cream too.

Food is just surprisingly good, price generously, portion is huge! Also with the unlimited free ice cream and salad, how can you say no to it. It’s just awesome.

Staffs are fine. Food is served swiftly. Taste on point. They have indoor with air con and outdoor. Char Hor Fun is way better than any other hawker.

Casual setting with good homey comfort food with reasonable pricing. Looking forward to go back to try out more dishes. Go early if you want to avoid crowd.
We ordered hailam char and supreme combo pizza.

There are times when you hear of your friends rave about certain places, and after sampling it, you realise that the individual palate preferences differ. Looking at social media and their recommendations can sometimes be a joke to the local Penangites as well, as we have our own hidden gems that is not shared with many.

The Lighthouse Cafe is one such gem. Housed within the grounds of the Catholic Diocese of Penang along Penang Road, this very humble restaurant has no frills, no fancy decor, no comfortable chairs or tables. But it packs a double wallop - the food and the prices.

As I came pretty early, before noon, seating was easily available, but by the time I left about an hour later, the place had already filled up inside and outside as well - a good sign that it's popular amongst locals.

Parking is non existent along the busy Penang Road, and if you're lucky, you could find a spot inside the Diocese compound for RM2. Otherwise, you're left to brave the roads along Sri Bahari Road or even Argyll Road to find a spot and walk there.

The dining area is sparse, but clever use of books that line the windows and also glass topped tables can be found inside. Under the glass is the menu, and also a few handwritten notes from international travellers who left compliments about the place. There are also tables outside the cafe, but it's not as comfortable as inside seating as you are left to the elements, while you eat.

The Lighthouse Cafe offers western dishes alongside local favourites, and cooked dishes that go well with rice. It's an eclectic mix, but not too much till it overwhelms the senses. The prices here are super inexpensive and gives great value for money. It's self-service to get your own cutlery and sauces/condiments.

My perfectly cooked chicken chop (there are 4 variations in the menu) was humongous, with a large piece of chicken, home made potato wedges (these were yummy) and drenched in a sweet sour sauce which perfectly complements the dish. The Sar Hor Fun (fried flat noodles) was another dish well done - with smoky fried noodles in an egg sauce. The other dish I ordered was the Hailam Fried mee - another Penang staple, and this one I had an issue with - I couldn't stop eating it!

One distinguishing factor about the noodles here are the large pieces of "bak yu phoke" or crispy fried lard. This delicious addition to dishes in Penang (char koay teow, koay teow thng etc) is a must, but it's taken to the next level in The Lighthouse - very welcomed indeed.

Oh, and every dine in order with a dish gives you the opportunity to help yourself to the all you can eat ice cream at the chiller, so you don't even need to order dessert!

The total bill for my gastronomic feast? RM38 for three dishes and two drinks. Something quite impossible to find in any other restaurant.

Cheap and good food in a pleasant atmosphere. No wonder so many locals frequent it. Shhh, don't tell the rest of the world about this place - we want to keep this place as quiet and quaint as it is for us Penangites to enjoy.

A lovely place for a good meal. Parking and number of tables may be limited, but the food is excellent and really affordable.

Good food, and pretty fast even though packed. Free flow ice cream is usually finished. The floor, tables and utensils box can be unsanitary and wet. Parking is paid.
