Edelweiss Cafe

Located in a beautiful old building and furnished with antiques, Edelweiss exude the charm of a bygone era. The food was simple, unpretentious and delicious. The service was very friendly and attentive. It's a lovely place to stop by whether for a drink or a meal.

Love the food and decor. The owner and waiter was really friendly and accomodating.

The menu will have a disclaimer that says the food might arrive pretty slow, but that wasn't the case.

One of the best places in Penang or outside of Penang.. just oozes atmosphere..
the attention to detail on this historic building is sublime.. to be able to eat and drink (great food and cocktails) is well worth at least one visit on your trip. We did two consecutive visits!

Great atmosphere in a beautiful historic building, the owner is a character, and the beer and food are just what is needed at the end of the day: all combined make Edelweiss a must-stop. I look forward to the next time I can visit and enjoy a curry wurst!

Food is absolutely divine! Portion was large too. Environment was so cosy and nice. Can’t wait to go back and try other items on their menu.

Edelweiss Cafe provided a delightful Swiss experience that evoked fond memories of my time studying in Switzerland. The friendly and attentive service from the family-run owners added a personal touch to our visit. The Rösti was perfectly crispy, the Beef Stroganoff brimmed with flavor, and the Cheese Fondue was a true treat. For an authentic taste of Switzerland coupled with excellent service, this cafe is the place to be.

Lovely hidden gem in the historic Armenian street of Georgetown. The interior of the cafe holds a lot of memorabilia from old-Malaysia. There’s also a decent selection of alcoholic drinks.

Is my second time visit this cafe. The cheese fondue is worth for the price. I ordered 200g so is filled about half of the pot. Cheese fondue come with free flow bread and salad (not sure is salad free slow as well).
The 1footlong sausage is nice as well. Love the potato pancake, im a potato lover!

This restaurant is the only place that serve Swiss food and they're so delicious. I went there for my first time and I ordered Rösti Salmon, it tastes marvellous and brings back alot of my great memories of Switzerland. The bar also has great selection of cocktails, liquor and imported beers. The owner is Swiss and very friendly. I would definitely go back again for the Fondue next time.

This is the best bar/restaurant for people of discerning taste in tourist centre of Georgetown. This the real deal in Swiss Germanic Tyrollean food and beverage run by a genuinely lovely couple. You'd be mad to miss it when you're in Penang.

The 7 of us were walking and exploring the famous street art in the heart of Georgetown Penang and we literally stumbled into this place.
What we found was more than good cold beer.
It felt like we had entered into a time machine and was taken back in time to the 1930s.
The cafe was very well restored, it was clean and exceptionally well maintained.
The owner Urs took us upstairs to visit his collection of antiques and artifacts ... and wow what a collection he had.
We highly recommend this cafe to anyone ... for a drink or a meal, you also have free admission to a very well maintained museum.

Wasn't expecting a quality Swiss restaurant in the middle of Georgetown and what a pleasant surprise. Fantastic location right in the tourist spot. The owners were really helpful and great to chat to, while enjoying some cold real European beer and watching the tourists wander by.

Super-licious foods with good selection of juices (and German beers too). Friendly people, cozy environment, variety of antic signs decorated everywhere in the shop would keep you occupied while waiting for the foods to be served.
Located right in the middle of a Heritage tourist-attraction lane; a B-52 foot-long sausage would surely fill up the tummy after an exciting walk/cycle.
Toilet is super clean (and entertaining as well).

It is a very good place for eat and relax. Food taste I'd good. Decorations also very good. Those are something people using in old days. The building also is very special, because in the middle is roofless. In Hong Kong also have some roofless old building. But is different type. And the taste of them Laska is different from other. They use some small fish (I forgot the fish name) to make soup. I suggest you to try it! Last thing I want to share is the owner very nice. He shared a lot about the building and Penang for me. If you have chance to visit the upper floor. You will find there just like a museum. I taken a lot of photos from there.
If I go to Penang again. I must visit here again.

Nice cafe to stop off on Armenia & get an excellent cold beer or other beverage. Friendly owner, nice setting. Menu comprises local favourites & some Swiss/German classics including a very good rosti. As well as local beers it also serves some excellent Bavarian beers. One of my fave stop offs in old Georgetown.

I was lucky enough to find this cozy cafe, fully filled with perfectly comfortable atmosphere, after walking around the center of Penang world heritage historic area for hours. The hood and drinks were very good, but the most impressive feature was the well-preserved antique Peranakan house itself. Thank you for wonderful moment.

The best Swiss restaurant in town. If you are bored with the Western food from the cafe, this is the place for you. Very authentic Swiss food as the owner is a Swiss. Good selection of beer and liquor. The still is the cheese fondue.
