The Sugar Tang - Georgetown

All the foods taste good. Ingredients used are fresh and good quality. The salmon mentai don is tasty, the assembly of the food is nice. The food appearance is nice. Price on the higher end especially for their taco sushi during last year visit. It is very challenging to locate a parking spot in front of their shop. Better to park somewhere else and walk to the shop. Worth visiting but I am not sure whether I will revisit.

Chanced upon this place while having bfast opposite. They have cakes at the front counter but they are more known for their omu rice. Ordered the omu tomyum fried rice with tempura set Rm37.90 that comes with a fancy drink of your choice. Also ordered a dirty latte Rm12.90. The omu tomyum is really yummy! I thought the tomyum sauce was quite special. Got the tomyum taste but not too sour. I failed the egg cutting but the omu egg is well cooked la. Fried rice also got a few pieces of fresh prawns. Ebi tempura nicely fried, i really enjoyed the entire dish! The dirty latte coffee abit lacking but still alright to me. Highly recc for the omu rice!

Better booked early if you dun like queuing up while you walk in these days. Waiting time is about 15mins-30mins.

Better park your car along the road side once you've found a legal parking bracket when you turn into the road.

I ordered their special set of 6pcs sushi.
They have Wagyu, Salmon, Tiger Prawn, Chicken, Scallop w/ Foie gras, Salted Egg mantis prawn. The portion is just nice and I'm loving their Wagyu❤

They make small but beautiful sweet drinks too.

This a Japanese fusion restaurant with a nice ambience. Staffs are very courtious and will offer ahead of prior customer asking. This is actually very thoughtful. Food is nice, we that their signature omurice (Japanese Omelette Rice) and their Tomyam mentaiko squid ink seafood (pasta). For the drinks we had the TieGuanYin series (3 drinks based of the famous Chinese tea). The place is also pork free and pets friendly

Love this cafe , super chill , pet friendly and the food so delicious,, really recommend cafe in town ,, their curry is so nice and the sushi is special taste, will come back again next again

The food here is awesome, especially the salmon mentaiko Don, stir and mix all the ingredients to enjoy the rich taste.

The omurice is also good. You can choose from Various curry bases and fried chicken as well. I chose the typical Japanese curry and Fu yu fried chicken, which tasted awesome.

Oh ya, the chicken rice sushi is a must-try! The basic lemak sushi has sold out, but I want to try it on my next visit.

The sashimi is good, but can be better.

The tau Hua is melt in the mouth.

Overall, the price is acceptable with the food served.

Good option for Japanese cuisine in Penang with excellent dining ambience and service. Menu included a variety of coffee, tea and dessert.

Ambience: Shop is well decorated and renovated, giving a good dining ambience.

Food: Unique and creative dishes beyond the regular Japaenese Restaurants. Recommend Unagi Butter Rice Don, Japanese Curry Don and Omurice. Chicken Rice sushi taste like chicken rice, unfortunately chicken is dry.

Came here for lunch on a Monday and was not crowded. Saw this on Instagram and decided to come here for lunch and it did not disappoint !

first visit and was pleasantly surprised, in a good way. the food is more delicious than expected. i especially enjoyed the duck carbonara and fried shrimps. presentation is beautiful. good coffee too. restaurant is spacious and service is commendable. will definitely visit again.

The food, atmosphere is good! Love the vibe here! Just the price will be little higher compare to other cafe, but overall worth it ! Big portion of food also

Came here just to relax after having lunch from another eating place.
Came here for the coffee latte and the lemon pie and it was great. Air conditioned cafe shop with varieties of japanese and asian food but did not try the food. Service was good.

Just simply walk in to this cafe, it’s surprisingly good! Modern style interior, very cozy environment with reasonable price. They have wide selection of food too! Sushi and desserts are superb! A must visit cafe in Penang!

The food was good! Loved that the environment was clean and nice, we had a comfortable time dining here. The staffs were also very attentive and would check if the teapot still have tea in it from time to time. Would return to eat other food items!! I do recommend ordering their Osmanthus Oolong tea, it was really fragrant!

omurice was tasty, love it! wide variety of choices to choose from. vibes we’re great and comfortable too. lunch set is available for greater saving.

Came here on the last night in Penang as it was close to the hotel for some a night dessert. The drunken tiramisu was phenomenal. One of the better ones other than making it yourself. Dirty coffee was strong and smooth and my wife really enjoyed the ginger lemon. Cheesecake was a little dry but overall, a great experience

Awesome food. The Salted Egg Curry Omurice with Nam Yu Fried Chicken is a must try!

Food here are really nice. Need to wait a bit during a Saturday evening. Omurice salted egg curry is nice and each bite is really flavorful. Yuzu coffee tasted like lemonade americano haha. Taromisu is soft and creamy and tasty👍🏻

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The Sugar Tang today, and I must say, it was a delightful experience from start to finish. The cozy and inviting atmosphere immediately caught my attention as I walked in. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive.

I opted in for their wagyu beef don & there sparkling watermelon, the taste of the rice don was well mesh together, and the sparkling watermelon give u refreshing taste watermelon with a hint of asam. I must say it was prefect.

Overall, The Sugar Tang is a hidden gem that I'm thrilled to have discovered. If you're a looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a well-crafted cup of Joe or tea and delicious japanese fusion, I highly recommend paying this cafe a visit. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

First impression: Very crowded, have to queue during meal hours.
🍳 Omelette rice very nice.
☕ Coffee is great too.
🍰 For me the taromisu is ok ok only.

It has been a while since my last visit here. First visit is because of its tiramisu. Best in town! =) The food are all nice, especially the omurice, yummy~
