If you expect a 1hr wait, then actually this place is quite good. The aunty selling drinks is also quite friendly. The prawns are HUGE, and the addition of mantis prawn (lai liu har) is quite salty and special.

Why I must always come here everytime in Penang? Their shrimps are crunchy. Amazing. One portion is not enough for sure

Very nice plate of char koay teow, the best i have tried in penang. The 2 girls at the stall is also friendly. Only thing is that waiting time could be 30min to an hour, as the shop is mostly full of waiting customers. Go early or late of the business hours to wait less time

Duck egg CKT... Very very delicious and addicting. Asam laksa is even better than the famous teochew chendol place.

I would rate it as the best Char kwe tiau in Penang. Open at 10.30am but it will take 30 minutes for the chef to serve first plate of char kwetiau.

Came here around 2 pm, had to que about 30 minutes...but understandable and already expected.. the chef make them one by one maintaining quality. Good quality prawns and unique mantis prawn for the special one. If I knew the portion would be so little for me I would have made it jumbo size or order 2 plates. Good taste.

We were recommended to try out this place by a local and boy it did not disappoint as it was hands down one of the best I've ever had! We arrived around 2pm on a Sat and had ordered the Special with duck egg. We had to wait for approx 30mins but it was all worthwhile. The char kway teow was served piping hot to us with big springy marinated prawns, even distribution of flavors across the entire dish and a nice spicy kick from the chilli - the whole dish was simply amazing and left us wanting for more! Will definitely return!

Tip: while waiting for the char kway Teow, we've had also ordered the lor bak as well and it was a great appetizer to tide through the wait.

One of the best after sisters’ CKT of Macalister Rd… it still retain the authentic Penang CKT flavour and wok-hee fried with fresh giant shrimp and duck egg. Love it.

Best of the best...
My No.1 choice of Char Koay Teow in Penang. No word to describe the satisfaction. Although it needs to wait for at least half an hour, it's worth it.
Price is high & Parking is a headache.

Came here at around 12 where there are people occupying most of the tables already.

Luckily my wife managed to grab a table first and ordered for a plate of nice CKT with duck egg + spicy to share after I dropped her off to find parking

We waited around 30 mins for the CKT and the only part we regretted is we ordered for sharing because it’s one of the best CKT to put into my list to revisit next time.

The blend of the duck egg with the kuew teow and the spiciness. Just perfect.

Good weekend to be visiting Penang. It’s the weekend just after “kwai chit” aka Hungry Ghost Festival (15th day of the 7th month on the Chinese Lunar calendar).

Many ethnic Chinese tend to stay home so Penang is “ghostly” quiet. 😊

Has anyone seen Tong Hooi Kopitiam, where “Famous Ah Leng Char Koay Teow” is located, so empty? We walked right in for lunch at 11.30am and plonked ourselves on some seats and ordered. Order was delivered within 15 mins.

It did start to fill up in the few minutes through. So perhaps just good timing.

Her CKT is still excellent. Full of flavour, smoky goodness from the “wok hei”. ❤ Large fresh prawns. Some may question on value for money aspect given her RM10 price but to me, you can’t put a price on best in class tasty CKT. 😛

Very delicious! Definitely a must-try if it’s your first time in Penang. The wait was a little long though and the portions are absolutely small. Will be able to comfortably finish 2 plates myself. 🫢

The chow koay teow of perfect doneness... A place where customers rather come and sit down for 1 hr while waiting for the CKT to heat up its wok.. only start frying at 11 but you will witness the place already filled with people and with a queue. But the wait is worth it .. the taste is exquisite... The prawns are fresh... The spiciness is just at the right level and the wok hei... How I wish I could have one right now... The plates you see stacked up in the pic without the towel are the order aka the queue.... Which amazes me how they know who is who... Anyway please come ... Won't regret ...

One of the nicer Char Koay Teow in Penang. A must try!! Need to wait for around 45mins. You can also try the loh bak and their penang laksa @ the shop there also which was nice.

One of the best food I have in Penang. Duck egg Char Koay Teow is super tasty (with / without chilli) both are equally good!
It's a must try if you're nearby!

Recommended by a local grab driver, one of the best CKT so far that we try in Penang, waiting time is long if lunch hours, prawn is too big to believe 🤣🤣. Do not forget to try the Loh Bak stall too, they a very crispy and good taste foods as well.

First time visited this place last weekend make sure to come early if you not want to wait longer as this place quite popular. Its open 10.30 first time try and so yummy kind choose original or special with or with chili sauce. For me just order original one. Make sure to also buy some drink in the restaurant if not you need to pay extra 0.5 per person. Will come here again when back to penang

The best of the best! Normal CKT is sold at RM10 per plate. With add-ons like the one I got is RM18. Waited about 20mins for the CKT as it is fried plate by plate which is how it should be done. This is the go-to place for CKT.

Whenever I'm in the area, will definitely pay a visit to this place for a good plate of CKT special. Let the pic speaks for itself. Full of fragrant flavor and texture is just nice. Waited one hour plus for this, so while waiting ordered the loh bak which is also okay. Joints like this require a little patience. Tables around me kept complaining on the long wait, but left with smiles after eating. Highly recommended.
