Yew Cake House-Layer Cake

I saw this on google and find it quite interesting so took a grab over from Georgetown which is only rm5.

The lady came out and lead us into the house. Very clean.

She took out the cakes from the cabinet. There is a pricing on the wall. Fixed pricing.
From Rm70. Is a round one. The one I bought is square shape about 900g, cost rm140.

Wasn’t very impressed with the look. Seems like a normal cake. Anyway I was there so just bought one to try.

The lady told me it can last about 2 wks.
I brought back 2 days later and my mum distribute to her friends. In a day, it was gone. All commented very nice and asked for more.

I only manage to have a small slice.

Operating out of a house, Yew Cake House has been selling Indonesian layer cake for decades (at least 30 years?). You’d basically just tell them you want the small (1-pounder) or big (2-pounder) & how many at the door and they’ll pass it to you. No frills, unpretentious. Just pure good quality cake! Price now (year 2020) is RM60 and RM120 respectively. Dense and buttery. Totally ol’ skool! Even the box has retained the same look and printing. Looks like you’re back in the 70s!

The best layer lapis cake in town from a beautiful auntie. She is 91 years old and insisted to use only the highest quality of ingredients to bake the cakes. She said bad cakes make her sick!

Ohhh my Lady Gaga, Auntie’s fruitcake is sinfully delectable! Those who wish to lose weight are seriously advised to stay away from it.

My mom has been getting their layer cakes here for the past 40 years. I can undoubtedly say these are the BEST LAYER CAKES IN THE WORLD. I’ve yet to come across any bakery in the US, Taiwan or HK that makes them like they do.

love the cake here, but don't be silly like me calling out for auntie through the gate... ring the doorbell here instead and save yourself that extra 10 minutes under the scorching hot sun 😅😅😅

Taste and texture is next level! Aunty is very old already so better to buy from here as much as you can.
