Very tasty biscuits and old-schooled confectionery. The owner is super friendly and gave us great introduction to each different biscuit. If you didn’t order in advance please come early in the morning as the goods are sold out very quickly. Highly recommended!

We a variety of local pastries and they were all yummy !! IMO better , softer and tastier than the commercialized ones . Loving the old school vibe too !!

Their tambun is freshly baked everyday, it's still warm when I came to pick up my order. The skin is very delicate and the filling not sickly sweet with a hint of fried shallot. You need to pre-order via phone to get their homemade yummy tambun 😋

Tasty handmade tau sa piah! Apart from tau sa piah, the homely shop also sells other snacks such as ma ti su, pong pneah, love letters etc. When we went to the shop, the boss told us to place our tau sa piah orders and collect them on the next day. May be good to order in advance. For the tau sa piah, they have two sizes. For the mini ones, each box has 32 pieces. Do note the tau sau piah contain lard, and are not vegetarian/halal-friendly. Suggest to check with the boss if you have special dietary requirements.

Tau sar piah is a flaky pastry biscuit filled with a savoury-sweet grounded mung beans (tau sar) filling. It is a long-time favourite among the locals and a must-buy item for visitors to Penang.

Due to its immense popularity, it is difficult to find handmade tau sar piah in Penang nowadays. Most are mass-produced with machines to keep up with the ever increasing demand.

This family-run biscuit shop is one of the very few in Penang that still makes this iconic tau sar piah using the traditional and handmade method. It is undoubtedly among the best we can find on this island.

Besides tau sar piah, other types of traditional biscuits including tambun piah, phong piah and beh teh saw are also available at this decades-old shop.

Understandably, the number of handmade biscuits produced each day is limited. Therefore, customers are advised to call at least one day in advance to make their bookings to avoid disappointment.

Open : 9.00 am - 7.00 pm
Closed : Sunday

Do pre-order the tau sar piah first before going down. We did not and it was sold out. The owner was king enough to let us buy one roll and it was fantastic! Not halal as it contains pork lard.

This little bakery along Kuantan Road makes their biscuits and other goodies daily. In fact, the stock is so limited that you just can't walk in to buy the ever popular Tambun biscuits just like that. You will need to order in advance of at least a day.

From the outside, you'd never guess that this house has become so popular with locals and outstation visitors alike. While the rest flock to the other shop nearby in Burmah Road, locals have been quietly coming here for a better tasting treat.

So what makes it better than the other famous shops? Some believe that the process of hand making each biscuit is the reason for it. Another contributing factor is due to the presence of lard that's used in baking as well.

Again, remember to PRE-BOOK your order to avoid disappointment.

This is probably the best out of the other tow sar pneah. It is a lot fresher and better quality as opposed to Ghee Hiang, which in my opinion the quality has been dropping.

Besides that, there are a couple of things that you need to be aware of at this location. It is best if you call the day before to put in an order as sometimes they ran out of them.
Also, the parking around the area can be troublesome.

Another thing to be mindful of is that if you don’t finish it within 2/3 days. It’s best if you put in the fridge. After that, you can either eat it cold or toast it a little.

Hidden gem with what I feel is one of the best traditional biscuits in Penang. Must try their tau sar pneah, it is fragrant and appetising. The lin yong (lotus paste) biscuits are good too!

No need to go for conventional "touristy" brands like Ghee Hiang, Him Heang, etc... just come here

Local said that this was their local favourite biscuit store to purchase Tambun Biscuit. Bought few boxes with them. All of the Tambun Biscuit are freshly made daily.
You required to call them 1 day in advance to order and collect the next day. They don't have extra Tambun Biscuit for walk in customers. You must try their Tambun Biscuit.
Price was more reasonable, unlikely other commercial store.

Freshly baked tau sar piah. Do CALL and order ahead (I did a day before). Very limited boxes for walk in since these are hand-made. We tried 1 at the shop and was so glad we’ve ordered them.

If you're looking for an authentic pastries shop with a delightful array of fresh-baked traditional handmade treats, you must try this gem of a place la!! The "Tau Sar Piah", "Pepper Biscuits" are simply a must-try. Although their production is limited, the price remains reasonable, making it accessible for all for sure.. What sets this place apart is its dedication to preserving the old ways of running a family business. They proudly shun modern shortcuts and continue to handmake their pastries, eschewing machines despite a growing daily demand....this commitment to tradition and quality instantly won us over. Soon Hiang Biscuit Shop's non-halal status might be a drawback for some, but for those who don't mind, the flavor and authenticity are unparalleled. The small family-run atmosphere adds to the charm, making it feel like a genuine taste of local culture..

One of the highlights of my visit was spoke with the lady senior boss, who runs her business and also manages the shop herself. I guess she wears many hats.., cashier, customer services, and biscuits conductor :D , and it was a delighted to hear her stories about the past generations and how businesses were run back then. This personal touch made the experience even more enjoyable and memorable.

Overall, this authentic pastries shop is a hidden treasure to me, offering a nostalgic taste of the past with its handcrafted delicacies biscuits. #soonhiangbiscuits #penang #handmake

Pre-order Tambun biscuits and Brown Sugar biscuits. Upon collection, bought additional sakeema, Chinese burgers (original and charcoal) and flower biscuits. Enjoyed the original and classic taste. Highly recommended.

A very delicious handmade “family-style” traditional biscuits with reasonable price.
Have been here a few times after my first time visit (5 years ago) brought by a 8x years old uncle who stayed in Penang.
Once you bought, you must try this freshly bake one, still warm. Will be even perfect when we serve with local Nanyang coffee.
The young generation owner is so friendly, he introduced the products and suggest the flower biscuits which not many shops are making nowadays.
Suggest you to call and pre-order if you have a big lot to buy.

Reputed as one shop that sells handmade Penang biscuits. When other shops has turned into machinery for better profit this shop still shap everything by hand

Also, the only shop that uses lard instead of vegetable oil as far as I know. This is definitely not halal but lard do have taste character that can't be replaced by veggie oil

Service was awesome and friendly. He let us try warm biscuits when we don't know what is biskuit tambun. It was another level good 😍

Biscuits went down really quick when I bring to my family

For authentic pastries do try this shop, which is a little different as their family uses the pork oil to make their pastries which give it that unique taste.
