Air Itam Sister Curry Mee

Superb local market feel while sitting here to enjoy the food. It's located on the road side in a small lane. There's a church with some spaces in front to park cars, but I'm not sure if they open when it's school holidays. The lane is so small that only one car can move each time.

As for the curry mee, I love it much as I'm having it with the economic fried bee hoon, which most locals will order according to the seller. And most importantly the curry soup is without much santan(coconut milk), won't cause tummy windy after enjoying it.

There's a blood donation this coming Saturday (16/3/24) 9am-3pm at the church. Donate then enjoy good food there ❤

Air Itam sisters curry mee, so far after both the sisters handed over to the new seller, surprisingly the curry mee still taste good as before. I wonder how they managed the quality control in sustaining the taste. 10/10 but for those who like it more “lemak” have to ask to add on.

The only set back is the coffee stalls. Need to upkeep the cleanliness.

Their curry mee was great. The soup broth was flavourful and spicy. Personally I prefer it to be more coconut but that is just my preference. The toppings are nothing to brag about and decent. You do not sit at where they sell the noodle, you are to sit opposite the shop itself. Price was reasonable for what it is. You should try this famous store.

*Parking here can be a bit of a challenge. If you aren’t able to find a street parking, consider going few streets down to try your luck in the neighbourhood street parking.
**If you’re coming on a weekend, try coming in Saturday morning instead of Sunday if possible as there is a Sunday market that will cause you even more challenges in parking.
*** You should try to come as early as you can as they were sold out within 2-3 hours after opening.

Ambience:
Although it is within the market area, it is situated a bit out in an alley-ish area to the side so you don’t get too much of the cars honking right beside your face. The place can be a bit wet and dirty, however that is to be expected for a roadside stall experience and as long as you can look past a bit of it that’s alright.

Service:
Basically self-order, so nothing much to say here. However, they were pretty chill about us getting more chilli paste for the dish so that was nice of them.

Food:
Pretty great! The style of curry mee was more towards the white Penang soup curry style and it’s the type of style and quality I was expecting for a Penang curry mee. You won’t regret the taste of it.

Price:
Can’t remember what the price exactly was but it wasn’t too unreasonable (Think somewhere in the region of RM4-7?). For the taste you are getting it’s definitely worth the price.

Conclusion:
Would I come back here for this? Definitely yes. This is the quintessential type of curry mee most people would be expecting for Penang and you won’t regret coming here.

A special blend of curry that reminds me slightly of laksa. Savoury, spicy and refreshing sweet flavour makes you want more after every bite. They added cuttlefish in their curry for a umami richness in the broth. Must try! It was a little hard for me to find the place l, as we need to walk down a little to the side road. Had to ask for direction.

Very fragrant and delicious curry mee, the additional squid made the soup rather unique. Glad to see the two elderly sisters were still sitting there at the stall talking to customers, even happier to see the younger generation took over the operation. Thankful to the neighbouring kuih stall owner for letting us eating at their table when the tiny space at the stall was full. More seats were also available opposite. Btw, the CKT opposite also worths a try!

Exquisite 👌 very flavorful and the soup pairs excellently with the duck blood. Can recommended!

100% a worthy try. The broth is not too thick yet very smooth when you drink the soup . The combination with the sotong makes it even more seafoody special . The best part is that you can sit beside the aunties sister while hearing them cracking jokes to you.

Very unique curry laksa, the braised cuttle fish is very flavourful, the laksa soup packed a punch! Overall its an unforgettable curry noodles dish!

The two aunties are super friendly and nice! I really like their Curry Mee even though some of our friends commented it was too watery but IMO its was just nice and not too spicy.

Very good bowl of curry mee. The soup wasn’t too milky and the chilli was very tasty and spicy. A good hearty bowl to start the day. The surroundings are not the most hygienic but that’s probably out of anyone’s control

This is the famous sister's curry noodle in penang, i thought it was just an internet fad hyped up by influencers. BUT I AM WRONG, the moment you taste the noodles and the broth, you will be so touched that you might tear up. The 2 sisters are so elderly but yet they managed to whip up something so amazing and the price that they are selling it for is really affordable. Come try it before you don't get any more chances.

This a stall ran by a couple of 80 old sisters! They sell curry mee, now the stall is run by their young niece.

Parking is not convenient, you probably park your car and probably walk 5 to 10min to here. Not much tables there so if you come in the peak morning, you will have to wait. Tried to come before noon as the curry mee might be sold out.

Very homey fare, but delicious. Nothing fancy but what else would you expect from street food? The sisters behind the store hang out there and are happy to pose for photos.

The curry mee is unlike other curry mee, the broth is less viscous but very tasty. We had a pleasant bowl of curry mee for breakfast and it was really yummy and lovely. The sweet aunty always welcomes her costumers. I recommend everyone to try it.

The taste of my childhood's memory. I've been eating their curry mee ever since I was a kid. The taste was not consistent within all those years but that's ok. No one is perfect. The chili paste is extremely spicy, but I love it!
