The best CCF in Penang! The CCF is soft and the prawn paste sauce is thick with strong flavour. Best of all they will unroll the CCF for you so that the CCF can be fully covered in the delicious sauce.

This Penang style Chee Cheong Fun stall is an institution and often you get long queues for this favourful savoury flat noodle.

The taste comes from the repelling smell of the heh koh (fried shrimp paste), sweet “purple” sauce, chilli 🌶 sauce, sesame seeds and a dash of oil.

Penang style Chee Cheong Fun. The Cheong Fun comes in rolled-type. The stall will unroll and steam it again like kway teow style. You can ask for all sauces or if you prefer less sweet, you can ask not to put the “hei Ko”.

Order System:
1. Order this first among Sister Yao etc. he likely will ask you to come back in 20mins. The price list is on the stall. He will ask you if you ordered a while ago.
2. Grab a seat and order rest of food.
3. Around 20mins, appear in front of him and he asked again if you ordered.
4. Once you say yes, he will prepare the order for you immediately.
*please do not cheat. Lol.

Food: ⭐x5

Chee Cheong Fun or rolled rice noodles has one basic ingredient - the rice rolls itself. It can be found in dim sum restaurants all around the world where it is served with a sweet soya sauce, some vegetables and includes either char siew or small prawns or mixed inside the chee cheong fun. Some places have tweaked this humble rice roll to be served with meat floss and fried shallots or other savoury ingredients as well.

To the best of my knowledge, only in Penang is chee cheong fun served differently... very differently. Instead of having meat or vegetables, the rice noodles are slathered with a combination of three sauces - a sweet sauce, chilli sauce and shrimp paste. A bit of oil thrown in and finally topped with a sprinkling of roasted sesame seeds completes the dish.

This stall has seen 3 generations manning it, so it is an institution. It is not housed in any coffee shop, but rather a push stall located by the side of the Seow Fong Lye cafe along Macalister Lane. You can't miss it, as there will always be a bunch of people standing around waiting for their takeaway orders.

Parking is available along Macalister Lane itself, though it can be a little difficult, especially after 9am.

I literally grew up (and old) on this, and I have never ever found any other stall that could come close, let alone match the taste and quality of the chee cheong fun served here.

A must when you are in Penang, as it's as unique as the island itself.

Has to be the best chee cheong fun in the universe. The balance between the shrimp paste, sweet sauce and chilli sauce is heavenly tuned! The texture of the rice rolls (or flat folds) is perfectly silky yet with enough body for a satisfying bite.

I can never get enough of this!

Smooth, silky, melt in your mouth texture. I regretted only buying a single portion to takeaway!

Best Chee Cheong Fan, soft and thin. Do check with them on the vacuum pack version that you can bring home and heat up easily

Famous Chee Cheong fun. It is now RM2.50 (S), RM3.00 (M) & RM3.60 (B). Quality & taste is still very consistent during his parent's good old days. The stall is just outside Seow Fong Lye cafe which is always busy especially on Sunday. This stall is still very authentic & my all times favourites stall.

Best Chee Cheong Fun in town. It's my favourite as the stall remains the tranditional recipe and taste that we love since our childhood time. 😍🥰
