Hua Guo Shan (Bukit Mertajam)

I love this trail... Anyone can climb at anytime of the day, cos its mostly shaded through out the journey to the top.. Except for some few spot, but is considerably minumum.
The trail are quite steep to be frank, but it is a good training spot for beginner hiker. The trails are nicely cemented, and once you reach the top, the "rainbow" will bring you to a Wonderland.

Good place to break a sweat and escape to the greeneries.
Parking available near the temple near the entrance. Walk on the cemented trail. Along the way there’ll be a junction. Left pathway is to the bottom part of the rainbow steps (328 path). Right pathway is to the top of the rainbow steps. So its sort or a circle. After the platform, can hike further up for another view. Track goes to Tokun i think.
The place is clean, and spacious. Nice to just chill and enjoy the view overlooking the mainland, strait and Penang Island. Perfect for sunset.
Also there are stalls selling snacks and drinks.

Good Hokkien Mee, Laksa & Herbal Eggs here. You climb up here just to have a nice breakfast and enjoy the fantastic view right?

Great hill, narrow cement road sometimes with owner motor passing by. But the view is very nice, love the big rocks especially at the durian farm area and rainbow stairs.

A chill hiking spot.

Overall distance to the top is around 2km, perfect for beginners to try hiking for the first time.

Following GPS you will arrive at a temple at the foot of mountain, park there and you can see a small hiking road that will lead you to the top. There are signs to guide your way and overall the course is not so winding.

Near the top there is a spot for you to eat some food and have some drinks there. No worries if are hungry.

At the top there is the unmissable 328 rainbow Bridge for you to take photos and chill. Near the top are some statues of animals to see and take photos as well. There is also an observation deck for you to enjoy and view the sceneries of bm.

There are dogs around the hiking path that are human friendly. Just proceed in a steady pace while passing by them and you should be fine.

Bring an umbrella if the weather is cloudy. During my hike there was a downpour but there are multiple spots along the hiking path as a cover for the rain so everything is fine. Just becareful as the hiking path is slippery after rain.

Overall a good hiking experience. Recommended for beginners that first started hiking. For intermediates to pros this course might not be so challenging for you 😁

First hike in the trail during D3 CNY. Never expect the view was so goody the area was managed and maintained so well. A bit tough for kids, just because of the steep path up.

Excellent place for a weekly hike up Bukit Mertajam. Beautifully decorated and nice environment A place for refreshments near the top. Sufficient parking space at the bottom. A place to consider visiting in B.M.

爬山好去处，环境优美凉爽干净，上面有卖些 tin汽水 milo, 重点不会太多人。上面有时遇见老板有采豆蔻，有豆蔻买下山。

五六岁小朋友也能顺着小山路，步步到山顶，不会很吃力；途中还有小亭与石材座椅，非常贴心。山腰上，如果你饿了，还可以吃福建虾面，茶叶蛋，仰望远处风景.饱食后可以顺着缤纷漂亮的彩梯去征服山顶。山顶有一些栩栩如生的动物与艺术雕像，可以拍照留念，那儿有个蛮宽阔的瞭望台，数只可爱的狗儿从附近的果园也与登山者共乐。回时可以选择另一个小径，享受树林里的感觉。不知不觉就到山下。
