Recs:
1. Chendol. Must-try legendary sweet dessert.
2. Spring rolls. Seasoned inside. Sweet and sour dipping sauce.

Refreshing cold dessert perfect for hot weather in Penang! When you mix them, all the toppings and sweet natural palm sugar would combine together with the shaved ice, turning them into chocolate colored mix of goodness.

Try their spring rolls too! It's seasoned inside, but when you dip it into the dipping sauce, the sweet and sour flavors are a perfect combo. It looks super red but it's not that spicy.

I love the interior of the shop, as it shows the long heritage of this shop from long ago.

Char Kuey Teo, chendol and oyster omelet was great but we didn’t like the popiah. Each staff serve one dish but the uncle takes the order for everything. Each stall will serve the order and we just need to pay to them directly.

I'm excited to share my experience at a restaurant in Penang with you. I highly recommend trying two dishes while you're there - their chendol and Duck Egg fried Kway Tiao. They were so good that we ended up going back twice during our trip.

The chendol was absolutely amazing - icy cold (perfect for hot weather), and the brown sugar added just the right amount of sweetness. And don't even get me started on the Duck Egg fried Kway Tiao - it was super shiok, with a perfect wok hei flavor, and the texture of the Kway Tiao was simply divine. It was love at first bite!

However, I must admit that we were a bit disappointed with their rojak, as it was too wet for our liking. And their tofu puff was a bit soggy as well, unfortunately.

But overall, we had a great time at the restaurant and would definitely go back again, maybe even next year!

Famous Penang Road Chendol

A must try dessert in Penang, been having this since 25 years ago whenever I am in Penang for CNY or family visit.

The queue is forever long and the crowd is constantly streaming in; thankfully the queue moves fast. Quality wise still as good and despite the price increment over time (inflation), it is still very reasonable.

Very refreshing, especially in hot weather Penang. Would recommend!

One of my favourite spots in Penang and some of the best eats - all in one place. You get Michelin guide level char kway teow, lovely oyster omelette, assam laksa, and the famous chendul (which I ended up getting 2 bowls of). Overall did not disappoint. Superb food here and quite affordable.

I have heard about this place from so many people who have mentioned that they serve Cendol, which was delicious in taste. Therefore, we decided to go there and give it a try. It turned out to be the best Cendol I have ever had in Malaysia; it was truly delicious, and I wanted to have all the Cendol.

In their restaurant, we also tried their Laksa, which was incredibly flavorful. This place is a must-visit; if you are in Malaysia, you should never miss it.

It's such a blessing to enjoy the Cendol in the sunny weather, along with delicious Asam Laksa, CKT, and Fried Oyster Egg. Places are quite chaotic though, very very crowded.

Laksa 8/10, not bad but not the best I’ve had
Char Kuey teow 7/10, average in penang, can’t compare with the famous one
Fried oyster omelette 5/10, so-so, too mushy, not recommended

Long queue at this famous stall but the queue moved quite fast. It was a hot day so it was nice to cool down with some iced cendol. Generous serving of cendol and the gula melaka syrup, red beans etc. RM4.50 for each cup and there’s takeaway options available. Many celebrities have visited this place as well.

This Teochew chendol really live up to their reputation. The sweetness is from the gula melaka (coconut sugar) and it doesn’t have that artificial taste.

They are conveniently located at the entrance to the street and they also have a shop house further down the street where you can sit down and enjoy the chendol. The shop house also sells char kway teow and assam laksa. Taste wise they are also good.

Shop house needs more fans / aircon as it is slightly warm inside

Teochew is incredible. Perfect for hot summer day

It tastes like soy milk with a bean powdery mouthfeel and sweetened with just enough milk for the dairy mouthfeel. So the overall mouthfeel is deep soymilk umami, bit of mealy bean, dairy cream. the pandan noodles work since this is a starchy mouthfeel dessert

the shaved ice is perfect texture, better than bingsu IMHO

Only went for the famous chendul midday. It tasted amazing and provided a cooling effect with all the walking throughout the day. The salty coconut milk combination with the sweeter gila Melaka balanced the flavours out. A must visit! Just note there will be plenty of people

The wall mural highlights the cendol. You can stand and eat your bowl of cendol or sit inside Joo Hooi Cafe. It is an enjoyable treat while walking about Penang road on a hot, sweltering afternoon. One can also ordered other foods to go with the cendol. Highly recommended the fried oyster omelette, char Koar teow, fruit rojak.

This was a quintessential Penang dining experience! After finding a table (which may take some patience), someone takes your order and then shouts out that order to the subsequent street merchants. For our cendol order (4.50/each), it arrived within minutes and was delicious! It had lots of red beans and lots of flavor.

A classic place to visit for all tourists, both local and international. Food is good, but considerably more expensive than other local stalls.

Avoid the lunchtime unless you fancy standing in line for seats.

The chendol was nice and the sauce was not too sweet. Syrup had real gula Melaka flavour.

It’s always a full-crowded place, but wonder how they can serve the chendul so fast! So authentic, RM 4.5 for 1 portion of chendul. Worth the taste!

Food was good as always. The Oyster Omelette, CKT, pai tee, fried prawn fritter and fried lo bak is a must! For drinks, Chendul ofcourse, it’s in the name!

They’re also famous for their hokkien mee and white curry laksa!
