Mews Cafe

Very cute cafe and foods are wonderful.
Especially Nyonya Laksa, this is one of the best in Malaysia. Very rich and creamy soup and fresh noodle

My friend brought me to visit this little nice cafe. I was amazed by the design, and old baba nyonya vibe. Really calm and gave me a perfect vibe of vacation in the island.

The foods was nice and tip top services.

Definitely will come back!

After spending some time researching for top authentic restaurants in Penang before we arrived from our cruise ship, we decided to come here. I’m glad we did. If you’re looking for authentic food and good environment, this is the place. highly recommended.

Despite the high prices, the food at this place is absolutely delicious. I ended up ordering only dessert since I had to stop just to use the toilet. I would've felt bad if I didn't get a taste one of their dish. Parking was a hassle, but luckily I got lucky and found a spot.

Saw somewhere posting this delicious food and decided to try it today. I've ordered Nasi Goreng Ayam, Nasi Lemak & Chicken Satay. Nasi Goreng Ayam taste good especially the marinated chicken was so tender. Nasi lemak also taste good and the fish is fresh without bone, served with some pickles that is taste good as well. Satay was just ok, it's thigh part but the taste is just normal. Overall the service is good and staff is friendly. I'm giving 5 star because of the overall experience and the food is nice.

A hidden charm of the old town. As a part of heritage hotel, restaurants also maintain the history. Foods served quickly. Dishes were well decorated and taste also fine. Nice place to enjoy both heritage ambience and great food with reasonable price.

Excellent place to hang out and eat. Arrived around 1PM and its pretty quiet to have lunch.

Quite small so there’s no parking space.

Located at Muntri Street. This place served nice rendang, mackeral dish. The rendang is cook with spices and taste delicious. The mackeral is grill perfectly and was the fish was nice. The food was nicely plated served with crispy papadam. Staff was helpful.

In a nice atmosphere (just a bit empty but it was Tuesday), we had this amazing Mew’s nyonya laksa lemak, really delicious. Super recommended it!

This restaurant offered us some of the most outstanding food and hospitality that we experienced in all of Penang. Led to this restaurant by TripAdvisor and some Google searches for gluten-free food in Georgetown, we were not disappointed at all. Helene’s Curry Mee was quite incredible. Mind blowing incredible! Members of our party had the turmeric fish dish, nasi lemak, and laksa. We also had the gula malaka, fried banana, rojak rolls, sauté, and the Jawa Mee the following evening. Everything was delicious. We are all dreaming up our experience at Mews and cannot recommend it highly enough. Personally, nothing in the world could beat the Curry Mee at Mews. Nothing! Unbelievable that it’s MSG-free.

Most highly recommend this place. It’s the best food we are in all of Penang. Btw, live band on Saturday night.

Such a smart place ( no dress code) but the food and atmosphere is great. If you can decide what to eat try the sharing platter. The prawn cucur udang is deep fried prawns, like an onion bhaji with other vegetables. Fabulous. Also we had beef rendang, turmeric rice, mini poppadoms and a spicy chilli salad to die for. The other main course was a smoked mackerel fillet with spices, lovely. To end with we had banana fritters with ice cream. Exceptional price of 90RM. Unbelievable.

Taj Wellington, opens its doors for Non Residents with its all new cafe , Hello Mews Cafe!

As I step into this place, I am welcomed the Taj way with the Arti and Garland. As I walk towards the cafe, I am transported to a luxury house like feeling. The cafe is right out of a beautifully curated drawing room at your home, with a lot of thought. As you all know I am high on details, from embroidered cushions to comfortable sofas to sculptures tucked away in corners to a little super Mart where you can pick your cereals, chocolates and stuff if you are staying up there.
And oh let’s not forget the alfresco seating outside with little candles. It would be perfect in winters.
Now I move onto my table and they have set a beautiful bouquet of pink roses on the table.

Then I head onto read the menu. It is a pretty comprehensive one. From all day breakfast to Continental to Indian, there was something for all.
For breakfast they had the Taj bakery , Fresh cut fruit, paratha, idli and more.

We started with Hummus ₹385. The hummus was delicious absolutely.
They have Salads small and large ₹350/₹550 .
They did have Sandwiches too which we gave a miss.
We moved onto have the pizza and loved it. It is for ₹750. What we liked that the onions were charred and not put raw. The tomato sauce was super fresh.
Next up we tried Pesto linguine for ₹600, which was so delicious. It was a very good pesto I had in a long time. Also it was very filling.

They did have Continental grills too. We tried one of their wellness dishes :
Super food salad : quinoa , sweet potato , veere root , orange and citrus dressing . I loved it. The citrus dressing went so well with the whole salad.

They did have Comfort Indian food too like Biryani , baingan bharta, Paneer Kathi roll

Next up we tried Desserts for ₹385
We had the Chocolate brownie . It was Uber delicious.
They also have Thali and kiddies menu.

For drinks we tried from the Jiva spa menu
We called for a Fruit juice
Iron man (apples, guava, pear)
Powered with antioxidant , rich in diner , iron , vitamin A , vitamin C. Absolutely refreshing.
We called for Vegetable juice too.
Celery , carrot , apple juice
Natural healing drink with low saturated fat .
I really like juices so I loved it.

Also what I liked was that it was so fresh with zero sugar or anything. Just made and given to us.

They had a wide range of teas ₹300 like Kahwa, taj house blend , jasmine tea .

We went outside to seat by the open area. We called for cappuccino and Americano, loved both.

To mention the sweetest part, they got me a bouquet of red roses just to make it special. It is all about these little things they say.

To me a very tight menu is always a good promise of delicious fresh food and Mews Cafe delivers. A nice selection of cocktails are offered ... at affordable prices and a limited selection of tempting Malay dishes. The Beef Rendang is outstandingly good ..... as good as any I have eaten in Malaysia. The staff are charming and helpful with nice outdoor seating in a relatively quiet road in old Georgetown and fairly close to Jimmy Choo's original workplace. Limited number of tables so best to book ahead or eat early.

Had the sharing platter and mee jawa. The cucur udang was the highlight for me! The beef was a little tough but the paste it was cooked in was seasoned well. Overall everything was tasty and flavourful. Lives up to its hype and worth every penny :)
