Tunamaya Beach & Spa Resort - Desaru

We had a great time and found the crew of the hotel to be very kind and efficient on our arrival.
The hotel is old but being renovated so the room was clean and neat and the bed very comfortable.
The menu was limited the first day because as they mentioned the shopping had not yet come in from the mainland, from then on food was fine yet the portions on the starter was rather small , main courses were good and on the weekend dinner buffet was delicious and with variations.
Spending 4 days and 3 nights is about the limit to stay there as beside diving and snorkeling or visiting the waterfall there is not much more to do then relax and rest from the busy city life.
Overall excellent option .

An old hotel but superb location right at desaru beach about 5 minutes before u get to hard rock hotel. Good value for money and adequately maintained and clean, but nothing fancy. Breakfast menu pretty good. Main attraction is the beach which is right at hotel door step unlike hard rock hotel.

Beautiful beach. Booked Tunamaya because of the beach front and it didn't disappoint me. The Deluxe room I booked is clean, bathroom is good and the bed is comfy, so much better than I expected, he building may old but it has been well maintained and look after, staff all very friendly, with the price I will definitely be back.

Big selection for breakfast but food not very tasty. Dinner at Nelayan Seafood are tasty, 5 mins walk.

Room is well upgraded.

Staff are friendly and very helpful.
Best part is all guest rooms are facing seaview.
The seaside garden are well lit up at night and good for hang out.
Breakfast is ok, if u r not too fussy.

Other common facilities are on the go. Guess tourism sector is working very hard for a comeback.

This place has direct access to the beach, private access limited to the hotel guest. No complaints for the room, clean, spacious. Only thing is their f&b services can be improved, to give better service to the guests by sending baby chair to parents? We are a parents to 2 young kids, so yeah. We do expect people to send us the baby chair, even normal side-road stall send us baby chair. Food are good.

Outstanding ! I have been in 5 star hotel before, but i love this hotel because they treat people very nice. Their room spacious,the view excellent. Even after 3hours check in, they call just to know how the experience was and is there anything they could help. So Yes! i will come again.

But i hope they could inform their customer please do not throwing rubbish on the beach. Especially singaporean we know how unhygienic and irresponsible they are.

First time here, travelled with my family and some friends last month. room was cozy, spacious and clean. view from the balcony was superb, staffs maintain the surroundings. pool was clean. breakfast choices were decent, staffs were very attentive and fulfil our needs. Walking distance to the beach. Beach bar was a nice relaxing place to hang out. staff member to compliment, Mr Harris who was very friendly and helpful. Polite enough to help my mother who was a wheelchair bound from the beach side to the restaurant due to slight rain. All the restaurant and reception staffs were friendly and helpful. The spa was ecellent! will visit again in future. Thank you all!

I chose the location because it is quite near to the Desaru adventure waterpark. And yes ,it was only about 4-5 km away.

Don't be fooled by its look from the roadside, once you check in you can see the pool view+ sea view from all the rooms..the view was definitely breathtaking - check out my videos and photos.

Breakfast was amazing with lots of food choices and hardworking staff. More regarding breakfast below.

The hospitality is similar to a 5 star hotel, or even better.

I am so glad to stay in Tunamaya for my Desaru vacation, and I'll definitely recommend it to others and won't stay in other hotels rather than Tunamaya for my next Desaru vacation ❤

Good service from staff, we got early check in since there was room available. All room is seaview room, walking distance to the beach. Bathroom with bidet and water heater, no bathtub. Swimming pool is clean, beach is also clean. Plenty parking space available. Breakfast buffet was okay. No chair at the balcony, you have to stand to enjoy the seaview. No iron & iron board, have to request from housekeeping dept and the limit is 30 minutes per request. Overall experience is okay, you got what you pay for ✨

All about this hotel is good , many selections of restaurants also from seafood, asian food and best brisket restaurant, room was big, and breakfast selection is great, the only issue in this location is difficult to find transport like taxi or grab. Hotel can order for you taxi but is quite expensive for drop off and pick up in 7 minute location it cost 80 MYR and the car very old. We suggest to rental car and drive around for 12 hours 65 MYR or full day for 100 MYR.

Great beach. Big room. Superb view. Friendly staffs. I noticed there’re some bad review here, but maybe the hotel have improve a lot since then. Of course there’s always a room for improvement but for me this is the best hotel you can get for the price. If you’re looking for a perfection, please consider to up your budget.

We recently had the pleasure of staying at a beach resort with our young children, and the experience was truly delightful. We checked in on a weekday and there wasn't much crowd.

The resort offered a perfect balance of relaxation and family-friendly activities, making it an ideal destination for those with kids. Here's our review of our stay and the night drive to nearby restaurants and local shops:

Accommodation: Our beachfront room on the 1st of 4 levels, was cozy and well-maintained. (Less a faulty socket for the lamp). It was a stone's throw away from the pool and especially the beach, which was incredibly convenient with our young children. The seaview and horizon view in the morning was simply breathtaking.

Family-Friendly Atmosphere: The resort had a relaxed and family-friendly vibe. The staff was accommodating and always ready to assist us (Frontdesk called us in the evening to ask if all is in order). We felt safe and welcomed, which is crucial when traveling with kids.

Beach Activities: Our kids had a blast playing in the sand and building sandcastles. We took long dips in the sea and then the pool.

Culinary Experience: The resort's restaurant offered a range of kid-friendly options. We had the local breakfast that ranged from meals, to pastries, salads, porridge, pasta etc.

Night Drive to Nearby Restaurant and Shops: We decided to drive and venture out for dinner to a nearby local restaurant and explore the local shops. The night drive was an adventure in itself, which was quiet and traffic was super smooth. The restaurant (D'Laksmana) served fantastic seafood and local dishes, which we all enjoyed. They were also Subway, HoneyBee, Pizza Hut, KFC along the way.

Sunset Viewing: The sunsets at the beach resort were magical, and our kids loved watching the sky change colors. It was an excellent way to end the day.

In summary, our stay at the simple beach resort was a memorable and family-friendly experience. We had quality time with our children, enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, and had the opportunity to explore the local culture. It's a destination we'd gladly return to for another relaxing family vacation.

Drove here to stay for a night before heading to KL, was very impromptu, thanks to night manager to let us park in front of the hotel, nice bathroom, it was made of stone. Beach was nice, service was great. Thanks for the quick stay

Went there during the school holidays, room will be a while to get ready but staff are very good at managing.

Near to the beach. Rooms okay. A good variety spread for breakfast.

First time in desaru and booked 2 connecting rooms here with my family. Loved our stay. Swimming pool is clean, check in a breeze. Location wise is great near to nelayan seafood.

was there with my parents, last minit decision to check in as we planned to head back but my dad got sleepy and we both drove our own cars.

took the room with 1 single x 1 queen bed and the room was huge.
tv was small but had decent channels and good quality.
cleanliness was alright at first, not great but ok until the ants started crawling out of the desk. there was also chocolate stain left on the kettle but we don't use them so it's ok.

there were fingerprints on the glass sliding door, the curtain fell when we wanted to open it.

room view was ok, 25% was a room from hotel design but we could see the pool.

staffs were very friendly and kind. guards let us park right outside the lobby.

the free breakfast was AMAZING!! best buffet ive had at a hotel for a long long time ( last was when I was a kid at mahkota hotel before it regressed)

check in several times and the service getting better. I love how the meal upgraded every time i came. It is worthy and of course the view is so beautiful.

Very nice hotel. Rooms are spacious with a sea view. Popular among Singaporeans. A cafe and a seafood restaurant are available on the premise. A good choice for a getaway.

Stayed here for 2 days. Overall, the family members loved the rooms that were just been renovated. Nice ambience and surrounding with the beach just a few steps away from the resort. Great view for sunrise and sunset. Don't mind the look of the resort from the outside but thumbs up for the renovated room and toilet. We love it.

Just love the view, the staff hospitality and the location, even though its an old resort
