It's definitely a must visit place for local owned and authentic Mexican food cuisine. We have been visiting this place for at least 5 years.

This is a cash ONLY establishment, so be mindful of this requirement. It is also recommended that reservations are made as high tourist times can present availability issues. Finally, they are closed on Mondays. Final note, they only serve black beans. I note this in case you are used to dining on brown refried beans.

We arrived for our party of 5 and were seated. After ordering, a small bean & cheese, in a homemade flour, eatable holder, for a pre-meal temptation is served. Just enjoy it. If you're still hungry before your meal, order some tortilla chips and guacamole. They have 3 sauces, but if these aren't spicy enough, ask for the hot stuff.

We ordered enchiladas in the various chicken, shrimp, and beef options. Additionally, chicken fajitas were ordered. We also ordered dessert - the chocolate cake with ice cream and the apple strudel with ice cream. I would recommend the chocolate cake option of these two, or I think the traditional flan is also available.

Parking is very limited, so walk, bus or taxi is best. If you are lucky, you may find a parking spot within a block - look in all directions.

Maria Jimenez is always at the top of our list of favorite restaurants in Cabo. Authentic Mexican and family run, this is a place you won’t want to miss. Important note-this is CASH ONLY so come prepared.
For food, the tortilla soup is fantastic but fair warning, it is LARGE. The enchilada verdes are fantastic- well-sauced and absolutely delicious. Similar, the enchiladas divorciadas are great, four pieces with two in green sauce and two in red. The catch of the day was sea bass was absolutely fantastic- highly recommend the green cilantro sauce or the creamy chipotle sauce. Margaritas are fantastic as well - you can’t forget about those! Can’t wait to come back.

My second visit here and I loved it again. The staff are lovely. There is intermittently a band that comes in. We ordered a soup and combination platter. The food was great and I would visit every time. Cash only.

First flank steak that wasn't chewy! A very nice Mexican flare restaurant. Delicious food, nice ambiance and not overly touristy. Generous portions so we split their #3 combo for $40 US, including 1 margarita. Would definitely recommend, one of our best meals in Cabo!

Food was the best I had while in Cabo. Portions were huge and the service was on point. Most definitely would go back when I go back to Cabo.

This is a hidden gem. Authentic Mexican home style recipes. Every dish is served on these gorgeous hand painted plates. They start you off with some sopacitos. Then we had the asada Adobado quesadillas which were delicious. The pollo con mole is some of the best I’ve had anywhere. The special house chicken dish is not to be missed. Loaded with garlic butter and flavors. It keeps you going back for another bite.

I will keep coming back here every visit to Cabo. The service is great and the atmosphere is cozy and warming. They only take cash but that’s not a downside here.

We received a recommendation from our neighbour in El Tezal and we were not disappointed at all. This place is very authentic and feels like we are sitting in someone’s kitchen being served like family. Each dish came out with great care and love. I’m making this my go to spot but do bring cash as they do not take cards at all.

Again absolutely delicious!!

One of my favorite places in town. I love the spinach quesadillas. These are not your typical quesadillas, and they are amazing. The food is full of super flavors, the services is top notch, and the ambiance is a super cultured Mexican feel. It's off the tourist path and was totally worth venturing away to find. I will definitely be back.

Recommended by the hotel we’re staying at. Arrived for a late lunch / early dinner, seated promptly in the bright and colorful dining room, it was cooled only by fans on a very hot June day, but I found it comfortable once we settled in and had some margaritas in hand.

The service was very friendly, accommodating of my poor attempt at Spanish and thankfully spoke English, and the menu has English as well.

We started with guacamole and chips, I had the chile relleno arrachera and my partner enjoyed the queso enchiladas rojas, and we had some margaritas and Pacificos.

We were served a little appetizer of simple bean sopesitos that were quite tasty and a nice little surprise before the entrees arrived.

The chile relleno (pictured) is now amongst my top 10 meals ever, and I would come back to Cabo just to get it again.

The sauce was magical, bright and vibrant, perfectly complementing the pepper and flank steak, which was cooked to absolute perfection, amazingly tender and full of flavor.

I would skip the guacamole as an appetizer next time, it was very good but most entrees come with a healthy dollop of it anyway.

The fresh fruit margarita was very refreshing and not overly sweet.

I would have happily stayed for dessert but I devoured the enormous chile in its entirety, and my partner was full from enjoying half of his enchiladas, so we will have to try the sweets next time.

The meal came to ~1600mx w/tip for the two of us with a few drinks; not the most or least expensive meal of the trip, but definitely the most enjoyable. The establishment is cash only, accepting pesos or USD.

Good menu selection, friendly and quick service, and all five of our meals were fabulous. The huge quesadilla on a fresh corn tortilla was out of this world! Great ambiance.

Oh my goodness. Maria Jimenez is a must while in Cabo. The atmosphere, food and service are all perfect. We got the combo #1 (the flank steak was incredible) and the shrimp relleno (very generous on the shrimp inside). Sooo delicious. Reservations recommended.

This tremendous little restaurant is slightly off the tourist area but is truly a gem. The ambiance is perfect and the food is even better. Do yourself a favor and try their special recipe chicken dish. It is absolutely incredible. Enjoy!

A few blocks off the main tourist area and SO worth seeking out. Great menu and extremely reasonable prices (much lower than restaurants in the marina area). Excellent service. Had the grand sope with chicken and husband had the shrimp fajitas. Both were HUGE portions and delicious. Also had a Paloma and two beers. The total, with a generous tip, was about $30 USD. Highly recommend!

A darling of a restaurant off of the typical tourist path. I wouldn’t consider this a local restaurant as tourists are the targeted clientele, but it’s getting closer to local territory.

Complimentary black bean sopecitos to start was very nice. All corn tortillas and chips are handmade on premises. Wide drink menu. I really enjoyed the flank steak. Seasoned and cooked to perfection. Big portion, would definitely be my recommended dish of choice. Provided salsas were tasty although none had much spice, which isn’t an issue for me.

Cash only - option to pay with USD at a slight markup from the spot rate.

Great food with a fun festive atmosphere. The food has many of the Tex-Mex options many are use to with a Mexico twist. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They also speak English if needed. Only downside is this is a CASH-ONLY eatery, however, the price is very reasonable and you can pay passo or American dollar. Tortia lady makes the best tortias fresh.
