MOND

It is a MOND of great food and cocktails. We loved every single dish we tried and especially the homemade bread. The cocktails were excellent.
Nice and well trained staff.

Very sweet and kind people. I was there just for the room space so I can't comment on the food, the drinks were good! The rooms are beautifully compact, perfect for backpackers or someone looking to work remotely. The views are insane. Rad rooftop bar space. Beach is literally a 5-10 min walk away.

During the two November weeks I spent in Sri Lanka, the most restful and tranquil night I had was spent at MOND in one of their treehouse rooms. The room was simple and beautifully designed, the mattress was very high quality, and the shower was refreshing (MOND delivers on good water pressure which not many places can promise). The highlight though was the consistency of their service. The manager, wait staff and cleaners were all equally friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. Thank you Renato and Jessica!

This review is very late but I wanted to update my time spent at the tree house and Monds cafe during my stay there - firstly Jessica was so helpful on chat before we arrived and we were escorted to our tree house. The tree house itself was one for the senses, it took a while to adjust to being able to hear everything around you but it was liberating once the adjustment was made. The bed was comfortable and I enjoyed the rustic shower set up. The cafe was really lovely as well with great views. Would love to visit again.

We went for breakfast nd the food was amazing. Their french toast are another level and the savoury dishes amazing too. The service is really nice and fast, very good point. I would go there to have breakfast, lunch and dinner if I could😂

Really lovely, beautifully designed spot with a gorgeous terrace looking out over the ocean. Tasty smoothie and some of the best coffee I’ve had in SL. Definitely recommend stopping by, the breakfasts looked delicious too.

We came here for dinner during our stay in Hiriketiya and absolutely loved it! Amazing selection of small plates (generously sized when compared to European version of small plates, definitely a positive!) all to suit a variety of tastes. The stand outs for us were the pork kebabs, prawns, focaccia & hummus! Sooo delicious & incredible setting, would highly recommend stopping by!

My 4,5 year old daughter and I have spent the last couple of days a Mond. We have slept in one of the tree houses, exposed to the nature, the sound of the animals and insects, the cracking of the tree branches, watching the fireflies from bed looked as we were on a fairytale… an amazing experience!!
We only had breakfast at Mond, and it was delicious. Stunning views, nice music… what else?
The staff have been more than nice to us.

Had breakfast here. Best place by far for breakfast in Hiriketiya. Tortilla Española, Rosti - decent gluten free options. Great coffee. Expensive but worth it.

I found myself at mond while taking a lazy afternoon stroll. They’re really on to something here.. possibly the most peaceful few hours I’ve spent on my vacation just dreamily ocean gazing.

They have good food and perfect coffee too.

Very nice place close to Hiriketiya beach, with a lovely view and very good food, coffee and juices.

Tip: If you’re going to have breakfast make sure to try the granola jar with rabarber compote at least once.

We stayed in one of the hotel rooms for 4 nights and can highly recommend the Mond. The highlight was the rooftop restaurant with an amazing sea view and delicious food.

Great coffee, design and options on the menu. We waited the rain out and the ambience was superb!

A tucked away gem. So well designed with intention and purpose, the rooms are cosy and private while exposed to the ocean. Entire menu is delicious and super well priced. Crew is great, really easy to get on with and accomodating. Ten stars.

Someone should win a design award for this place.

Mond is Located perfectly between dickwella and hiri beaches - perched on a quiet little hill with unobstructed ocean views, no more than a 5 min walk to all of the areas greatest hits.

The only problem is you won’t want to leave.
This place is a VIBE.
Every element combines perfectly to create an unpretentious, unique experience.

Anyone can open a restaurant and make nice food. Anyone can open a guest house and have a nice bed and view, but not everyone can create what Jessica and Renato have created.

I’ll start with the restaurant. Every last detail - from the menu selection, food quality, presentation and portion size, music, dinnerware and staff attentiveness contribute to the experience. Details like where the umbrellas are placed and lighting, every practicality has been considered but not overdone as to lose its simplicity. I couldnt fault it. I sat for hours on the rooftop just listening to music, drinking great coffee and watching the monkeys.

The rooms. I arrived at 2am a bit nervous, it’s sometimes hard to settle in and sleep in a new space when you arrive in the dark. Not the case here. The bed was made with net tucked in, a soft warm led light reflected against the unpolished concrete, it immediately felt cozy and like home. I fell asleep quickly and woke up in a luxurious linens to realise I’m staring directly at the ocean. I was worried about the size of the room and no AC but when you open the slated wall it feels very spacious. They’ve placed uniquely shaped mirrors to reflect light in just the right places to open up the space. And with an ocean breeze and a fan that has a rocket speed you can quickly cool down. I also took 5 cold showers a day, because who doesn’t love showering while looking at the ocean? The photos really don’t do it justice, you have to experience it.

To top of off the staff and owners are delightful - conversing easily with guests and making everyone feel truly at ease and at home.

In short - If you like rustic luxury, proximity to nature and distance from crowds while still being in the middle of it all, beautiful and delicious food and value unique architecture and design this place is for you. It has taste and class and raw authenticity that makes you feel inspired and at home. It doesn’t distract from the experience of Sri Lanka, it sits quietly in her jungle and sings along with it. I cannot wait to go back.

The chocolate chia pod with banana was divine, as was the watermelon mimosa. With a great view to boot!!

Mond is an exceptional space, meticulously designed with intricate details. The atmosphere is tranquil and secluded, with a refreshing breeze blowing through the room. The shutters are movable, allowing for playful manipulation of light during both day and night. The combination of colours, textures, and materials, set against the stunning green and blue horizon, enhances the peaceful ambience. Additionally, the rooftop serves as a perfect escape from the heat and hustle and bustle of the nearby town and the beach. Food, coffee and cocktails are delicious, portions are well-balanced, and the staff is super attentive and friendly. Thank you for having us!
