Nisanssala and her family are such wonderful hosts. They are always there to help and are always smiling.
You absolutely must try the food. The three veg curry is my favourite, and the Sri Lankan Brekki is a must have too!

Lovely rooms, very close to the dreamy Talalla beach; you can hear the waves from the balcony and watch the monkeys in the trees.

We just had dinner there - tasty and fresh seafood. Curry a bit too spicy even though we ordered not spicy. Overall great value for money and nice atmosphere

We had a wonderful stay with Nisa. She really goes above and beyond in being welcoming, always tries to accommodate her guests as much as she can. The food is absolutely delicious - overall, cannot recommend highly enough! Whether it is hoppers with dhal or her curries, it is truly a treat.

Best food and acommodation that we found in Sri Lanka. Clean and 1 min from the beach, sunbeds available.
Nisha is a super host and cook, everything is prepared with detail and love.

The most amazing stay at Nishas! She was an absolute angel, as well as her 2 brothers who were always available to help out with tuk tuk rides! The hotel was so comfortable and clean. Nishas food is AMAZING, the Sri Lankan fish curry is a must try! Nisha made us feel more than welcome and we would undoubtably return.

Nishas place has a warm homely feeling. Spent 9 nights and it was a very peaceful and welcoming place. Food is so great, among the best I had in Sri Lanka for the months I've been here. Really hope to stay here again and truly recommend it. Ocean is a bit rough but the beach is very tranquil. Not a party village. Very laid back.

Wow! What a gorgeous location (think an early Bond film empty tropical beach) and the food and service is spectacular. Nisha is a beautiful and so accommodating host and her food is second to none. Nisha is there 24/7 and nothing is too much trouble. She also arranged transport to collect us from Matara train station. Then 5am to Mirissa to go whale watching and return then the following day to Udawalawe. At this moment she’s charging my kindle as we sit in the gorgeous fan cooled open dining room digesting a scrumptious huge whole butter fish with a variety of side dishes. I can’t recommend highly enough

During our stay at Talalla Studio, we enjoyed meals at Nisha’s restaurant.
Very delicious original dishes, tasty desserts, rich coffee and juices.
Nice place to have breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Highly recommended!

We stayed at Sunshine Beach for 10 days and were more than happy.
The room is big and very clean, we had a comfortable bed and a nice bathroom.
Also we had a lot of space on the balcony.
Our highlight was definitly the food at the restaurant. Nisha is a very good cook and the food was the best we have tasted in our 5 week Sri Lanka trip. Especially the breakfast was amazing!
You can also get very delicious fresh fruit juices and everything is made with bottled drinking water.
We can highly recommend it!!

I had the best stay at sunshine rooms. The food is the best in the village by far. Starting the day with fresh fruit juice and coconut pancakes, and finishing it with Nisansalas famous curries. The rooms are huge, lovely big en-suite bathrooms and really comfortable beds. It also just happens to be about 7 seconds from the beach. I can’t wait to go back. Thank you for a wonderful stay, Nisansala.

A hidden gem!

What a beautiful hidden gem right in the heart of Talalla a stone throw from the beach (literally a one minute walk).
Sunshine offers lovely rooms with or without AC at very good prices.
The food is some of the best in town especially the breaded prawns. During our year stay in Sri Lanka Ninsansala was the best host from all the hotels we stayed nothing is every to much for her she goes above and beyond.
She also has all the connections from tuk tuk rides to the organisation of day trips.
Would highly recommend 10/10

We’ve just left there and wish we didn’t have more to explore in the south. The room we’ve stayed at had a balcony with a dream view and it was immaculately clean. Nisha and all the staff (or family) are so friendly and helpful. Don’t get me started on the food - which we were so amazed by w actually had to have a class with Nisha about her curry. Beautiful (and peaceful) location, amazing food, great people. Wish I could give it more stars. Thank you all!

If you are checking this hotel, then you should know that Talalla beach will never let you go, its a breathtaking piece of paradise! The hotel is great, with a very nice family taking care of all your needs! Nishas currys are a real treasure! 🙏🏻

This place is owned by a lovely family, who caters to all of your needs while being warm and very attentive! Nisha, the owner and chef couldn’t be more lovely! The rooms are big, modern and comfortable with great AC, a huge bed and some even have fans on the spacious balcony…a bargain for the price!
The breakfast we were served every morning was a huge amount of delicious food, especially the sri lankan breakfast(see my photo) was to incredible…you need to preorder it the night before though!

I recommend everyone to stay here!

The owner and her family were amazing, so friendly and helpful. Nothing was ever too much from fixing my broken swimsuit to organising safe tuk tuks where ever we wanted to go and pick up. Ninsansala's English was fantastic, her food amazing! No request was too big or small we stayed multiple times in 2019, 2021 and 2022 and she always looked after us, the location is amazing right on the beach and her food spectacular! The rooms are fab she has both AC and non AC options my partner and I used both, they were always clean and incredibly comfortable. Safe parking for cars or scooters over night. She also stored our cases safe whilst we travelled around Sri Lanka honestly this is a gem of a place and we hope to go back soon!

Myself & my boyfriend moved to Tallala for 9 months in Nov 2021-Aug 2022 as we were working at a local veterinary clinic. We were told about Nisansala and her incredible cooking on the first night we arrived and ended up there that evening. Not only is her cooking incredible and always made with so much love, she soon became like family to myself and my colleagues. We visited her daily whether it be for food, our washing or just to say hello. Nisansala could not do enough for you and always with a smile. We ate at her restaurant several times a week and she even knew what we would have before long. We also treated ourselves to a room every now and then. With an incredible view of the sea and the sound of the waves, the room was clean, traditional and had everything you needed including A/C, fan, kettle ect. Nisansala has a lovely family-her nephews and little niece were always there to welcome us and to have a chat. Her mum was also lovely and very helpful. Her two brothers also became great friends, always available for a tuk tuk ride when we needed and even there in times of an emergency. We will never forget Nisansala, her family and Sunshine rooms and wouldn't go anywhere else when we next return to Talalla. You will not be disappointed, especially with the beautiful beach on your doorstep!

We booked the Talalla Sunshine Rooms on the recommendation of some local friends, without knowing too much about it. Having quarantined at the luxury Talalla Retreat nextdoor, we were expecting it to be nice, but fairly basic.

We couldn’t have been more wrong. Our air conditioned room on the top floor was huge, with a large, comfortable bed and plenty of storage. The room also had an en suite toilet/wet room with a shower with hot water!

Then there’s the balcony. Up in the palm trees, coconuts are almost at arm’s length and there are breathtaking views of Talalla Beach, which is seconds away.

Our host, Nisansala was not only one of the loveliest people you could hope to meet, but also a very talented cook - her food is legendary in the local area.

We tried a lot of food on the menu, and particularly enjoyed the 3 veg curry and calamari, caught that morning. The healthy breakfast of fruit salad and porridge was also delicious and the portions are all huge.

Nothing is too much trouble for Nisansala, and we couldn’t have wished for a better place to stay. I would thoroughly recommend Talalla Sunshine Rooms if visiting the area.
